THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 210: REVELATION AFTER REVELATION
Chapter 210: REVELATION AFTER REVELATION
Fay was seated in her office, when her personal assistant came in.
"Can I help you?" She asked, without looking up from her computer screen.
"Ma’am, there’s someone here to see you," she replied.
"Do they have an appointment?"
"No ma’am," she replied.
"Then why do I need to see them?"
"They say it’s really important."
She sighed, and lifted her head from the screen.
"Who are they?"
"The matriarch of the Atticus family."
Fay closed her eyes for a few seconds. She didn’t want to deal with the Atticus family today of all days.
She had so much on her plate, she would much rather keep thoughts of them at bay.
But she remembered clearly what Ace had said the other night, and it made her curious.
"Send her in."
She bowed her head, and turned towards the door.
When the door opened again, she knew who to expect even before she heard the beating cane.
"Fay Luxe," the matriarch said, taking a seat opposite her.
"Hello," Fay replied dryly.
The matriarch smiled. "I can see you’re still mad at me."
"I thought I made myself very clear at the Glams opening. But I guess the Atticus has a humiliation kink."
"Or do we just hate to be misunderstood?" She lifted a brow.
"I doubt that. Definitely a humiliation kink."
She set aside everything she was doing, and reclined into her seat.
"Let’s say you’re right. How are you doing, Fay?"
"Are you genuinely asking to know? Or perhaps, you want to judge how far to go to make me unhappy?"
She smiled in response, leaving Fay further confused.
"Why do you keep smiling?" She asked.
"Truthfully? I’m just impressed. I spent that much time trying to turn you into a sophisticated lady, but you ended up doing it all on your own. You’re everything I envisioned you to be, Fay."
"And let me guess? You’re proud of me."
"I’ve always been, either way. I was smitten with you from the first time I saw you. First it was because you bore a striking resemblance to someone I was once acquainted with. Then I experienced your spirit, and knew you had to remain in the family."
Fay laughed. It started off demure, but gradually escalated into cackles.
"You Atticus are really unbelievable, oh my God! Now everyone wants to talk about the truth. Where was this desire four years ago? This is crazy!"
"You’re right. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for not being honest from the get go. So many things that shouldn’t have happened, happened, and we have no one else but ourselves to blame. That’s why I need to correct some wrongs, starting with the truth."
"Unfortunately, ma’am, I don’t give a rat ass about the truth anymore. There’s only one truth, and that’s the fact that the Atticus are my sworn enemies."
"When you say that, do you factor in my great grandchild too? Technically, she’s an Atticus."
Fay’s heart instantly skipped a beat, and her eyes widened.
"Wh– what are you talking about?"
It was the matriarch’s turn to laugh.
"Oh, you young people. You always think you know more than your elders. It’s always fascinating to watch."
"Were you stalking me when I was out of the country?" Fay asked in an accusatory tone.
"I thought you didn’t want to know the truth?"
"Not when it comes to my daughter, you manipulative bitch!"
"First and foremost, watch your tongue, young lady. And secondly, I’m glad you can admit the truth about your daughter."
"She’s not an Atticus. She doesn’t have that name for a reason. And she will never bear that name!"
"I’m not here to fight with you, Fay. All you need to do is ask your grandfather for the truth. I’m sure your hatred for me will be justified when you hear certain things. But on other things, you’d realise why I’ve spent the last four years doing everything I could to protect the privacy of you and your daughter."
She rose to her feet, and smiled at Fay. "You’re so beautiful. Take care Fay. Hopefully, I can see Dream soon."
She turned around, and walked out of the door.
Fay spent a good ten seconds after she left, completely speechless.
Her thoughts ran in circles. The matriarch knew. Judging by everything she said, she had always known about Dream.
But why did she bring it up now? Dreams’ birthday was in five days.
Did that have someone to do with why she was making her aware of the fact she knew?
"Oh God!"
Her hands stretched towards her phone. Dragging it into her hand, she called her grandfather.
"Fay?" He picked on the first ring. "Is something wrong?"
"I need to talk to you about my parents, and everything the matriarch of the family knows."
A long silence stretched between them. Seth didn’t think he’d hear those words any time soon.
He took it that the matriarch had finally spoken with her.
"When do you want to meet?" He finally asked.
"Lunch."
"Are you sure you don’t want to make it after you return home from the office?"
"Oh, I am on my way home already. I’m calling it a day."
She ended the call before he could try to convince her otherwise, and reclined into her seat.
Her sweaty palm went to her face, as she wheezed with sorry.
She didn’t know what she would do if Ace discovered they had a child together, and tried to enter into their child’s life.
All these years fighting to keep Dream a secret would be all for nothing.
"No!" She shook her head. "Absolutely not!"
A knock sounded on her door, and just before she could shoo whoever it was away, the door opened, and someone walked in.
Her personal assistant ran behind the intruder, trying to stop her from going any further.
"I told you that you can’t come in. Please leave!" She screamed at her.
Celine Atticus smiled, pretending not to hear what the girl said.
"I’m certain Fay thinks otherwise. Right?"
Fay held her breath for a few seconds. The day kept getting worse. First it was the matriarch, and now Celine Atticus?
"Why can’t I just get rid of this family, permanently?" She questioned in her heart.
"Right Fay?" Celine Atticus pressed.
"Leave us alone."
Her personal assistant bowed, and scurried out of the room.
"Smart choice," Celine said, as she sat on the same chair her mother just sat, and placed her briefcase on the table. "The chairs are still warm. I wonder what you discussed with my mother."
Fay wished she was surprised, but she wasn’t.
Celine always knew something about everyone. And it was that knowledge that championed her the chief manipulator she was.
"I saw Diane recently. We did discuss a lot. The governor is a lucky man. To go from this to that, now that’s an upgrade," she said, sitting uprightly.
The sinister smile on Celine’s eyes dimmed, and she sat up too, aware this was war.
"You grew some balls," she said, giving Fay a once over.
"Well I just realised there are some things to learn from you, Celine. You’re not all that bad, you know?"
"I believe it’s aunt Celine to you."
Fay chuckled. "You wish. Why are you in my company, Celine?"
"Your company?" Celine looked around, a smile, although diabolical, returning to her face. "How does that feel?"
"How does what feel?"
"To be able to call a company of this magnitude, yours?"
"Magnificent. Something you’d never experience," she added in a patronising voice.
Celine sent a sharp warning look her way.
"Careful Fay. You may have grown some nerves, but underneath the mask, you’re still the same naive girl you were four years ago."
Fay’s face spread into a genuinely amused smile.
"Did you come all the way to tell me that?"
"Nope. I came to offer you a way to make Ace pay for all he did to you."
"You?" Fay chuckled.
"It’s no news that I don’t like the fool. Why are you acting surprised?"
"I’m not surprised that you don’t like him. I’m surprised you think I’d help you with your fantasies. That’s totally crazy!" She laughed.
"I don’t see how it’s crazy. You’d have something you can use against me after you help me bring him down. So when I become president of Spades, you can hold that favour over my head."
"Let me get this straight. Your partner in crime, Reign Kings, failed to help you steal Ace’s inheritance, so you turn to the woman you shamefully pushed out of your house four years ago, for help? Just for me to have something over you?"
"Exactly." She nodded confidently.
"I’ve got to give it to you, Celine, you’re one crazy bitch! But listen carefully, I don’t care about your fight with Ace. That’s between you and him. When the time’s right, I will come for everyone in your family that has hurt me, including you. But for now, leave my office, Celine Atticus." She pointed to the door.
"Remember Fay, I asked kindly. Hopefully, you don’t regret your decision."
She picked up her briefcase, and walked to the door, then stopped abruptly.
"Call me if you change your mind. I’d hate for my grandniece to lose a mother and father," she walked out, and slammed the door behind her.
Fay’s heart jumped into her mouth, when Celine Atticus’ threat, dawned on her.
