Chapter 190: MEETING OF THE ELITES

Fay stepped out of her car to see what the hold up was with the car repairer guy that had already arrived, when a taxi pulled into the building, and stopped just beside her.

She frowned, as the taxi door opened and its driver stepped out.

The man walked up to her, a friendly expression on his face.

"Good evening, ma’am. I’m Ronald from Elite driving company. I was sent to pick you up, and bring you home," he introduced himself, and even brought out a card from his pocket to hand over to her.

Fay’s eyes found her driver’s, and his confusion mirrored her expression.

"I only told grandpa I was stranded here. Could he have sent the driver?" She questioned him.

"I think so. The elite driving company is a very popular company. It’s legit," her driver replied.

"Alright. Should we get going then? The repair guy should be able to handle the car on his own."

"Oh, no worries, ma’am. I’ll stay here with him, so I can bring the car back home when it’s done. You should go ahead first."

"Are you sure?" Her eyes squinted all-over him.

"Certainly."

She nodded, and walked up to her car to pick up her bag.

As she reemerged, the doors of the taxi were already opened for her.

"Thanks," she muttered.

The car moved, and she waved her driver goodbye from the windows.

Fay was already falling asleep when the car stopped at the front of the Luxe mansion.

The driver turned to get her attention. "Miss?" He called.

"Hey, what is it?"

"I’m in front of your house. I don’t think the gate would be open for me."

"That’s not an issue. I’ll just stop here. Thank you for bringing me home," she replied, coming out of the car.

She walked up to the gate, and pressed a button.

In a split second, one of the gate attendants showed up. She identified herself, and he swiftly opened the pedestrian door for her.

As she walked in through the doors, she noticed the taxi had not moved.

He didn’t drive away until she was safely inside the house.

"And they say chivalry is dead," she muttered under her breath.

Her grandfather was within her in a heartbeat.

"Are you okay, Fay? You had me so worried," he said, inspecting the lengths and breath of her body, to ensure she was fine.

She laughed at his theatrics. "I’m fine grandpa."

"Yeah, you scared me."

Together, they entered the house. Fay found her daughter on one of the couches.

"She fell asleep waiting for you," she heard behind her, as she walked to the couch.

Bending to her knees, she gathered the sleeping beauty to her body, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Sorry, baby. Mummy’s home now."

She stroked the spot she had just kissed, smiling as she watched her daughter sleep.

"Why do you have to look so much like him?" She thought. "How do I forget him when everytime I see you, I see him?"

She shook her head, and rose to her feet.

"Do you want her to be taken to her room?" Her grandfather asked.

"No, I’ll bring her to my room. She’ll sleep there tonight," she turned to Dream’s nanny that had just walked into the room. "I forgot the food I bought for her to taste in the car. If my driver returns tonight, could you please tell him to hand it over to the kitchen staff so they can preserve it?"

"Yes ma’am," she replied.

"Thank you. I’ll just carry Dream upstairs."

"Your bag, Fay," Seth called.

"Could you bring it up?"

She carried Dream into her body, and began the journey up the staircase, to her room.

Seth ran ahead of her, and opened her room door, so she could go in first.

He shut the door after he also entered the room, and moved to her dressing table to drop the bag.

"Thank you so much, grandpa."

She turned to him after safely tucking Dream on the bed.

"Don’t mention," he waved a dismissive hand. "But I think you need to go easier on yourself. You’re working a little too much. Don’t forget to take out time to rest."

"I’ll try," she said.

They both knew she was lying. She didn’t know how to rest. But for the sake of keeping the peace, he nodded and turned around.

"Goodnight, Fay."

"Goodnight grandpa."

When he shut the door behind him, she returned to the bed to make sure her daughter was comfortable.

Putting everything in place, she kissed her hand, and proceeded to the bathroom to shower.

Dream woke up first the next morning. As she turned her little body in the bed, she pushed against a soft body.

Her eyes opened, and she saw her mother staring at her with a smile on her face.

"Mummy!" She pushed herself into her body.

"Darling!" Fay mirrored her excitement, and began tickling her.

She laughed, falling over herself as she tried to escape the tickles.

"Did you miss me last night?" Fay asked, in-between their morning play.

"A whole lot, mummy! You’re always so busy these days." The little girl pouted.

"Then it’s a good thing I have the morning off. I don’t have to be at the company until later in the day. Would you like to play a whole lot with mummy?" She mimicked the little girl’s voice.

It cracked Dream up, and she threw her head back in laughter.

"Tickle dragon coming in!" Fay announced, before pouncing on her belly with the tickles.

Fay ensured Dream was already taking her afternoon nap, before she walked out of the house in readiness to go to the company.

Her driver in company of her bodyguard, Cade, approached her the second she became visible.

"You’re back already," she directed to her driver.

"Good afternoon ma’am. I returned last night, but was told you had already retired for the night. I did as you asked, and gave the food you left in the car to the kitchen staff."

"Great. Tell them I say they can have it. I’ll just get something else for, Dream."

"Thank you, ma’am. Are you on your way to the office now? Should I ready a car?"

"Oh no, you should rest. I’ll just get another driver to drive me. Or I drive myself." She shrugged.

"I could drive you," Cade volunteered. "You’d get a driver and a bodyguard. Two in one package."

"That sounds like a plan. You go to your room and have a good rest, okay?"

"Yes ma’am," her driver replied.

Cade led her into a car, and hopped into the driver’s seat.

On their way to the office, Fay’s phone rang out loud.

She answered when she saw it was her personal assistant calling.

"Good afternoon ma’am. The meeting with the governor scheduled for tomorrow, has been shifted to this afternoon. I’ll send the location to your driver, and the details of the meeting to you."

"Oh," she replied, worried about the sudden change. "Just tell me the location. It’s my bodyguard driving me today," she said.

"Alright ma’am."

The call ended, and she sighed. With the way she planned her week, every adjustment was detrimental to its flow.

She barely even had time to look at the summary of what she was to expect.

The only thing she knew was that the governor wanted to build something monumental that would help his reelection in the forthcoming elections.

He had enlisted the help of the biggest names in the City to achieve this feat.

Being one of the biggest companies, she was supposed to lead this project.

There was going to be a vote, and her input was required.

"Hey, Cade," she called, and gave him the address where the meeting would be held.

The little time she had left, she spent quickly going through the project.

When the car stopped inside the building, and the doors were opened for her, she was more prepared than she had been ten minutes ago.

An usher welcomed her at the entrance, then proceeded to escort her to the room where the meeting was to be held.

The doors slid open, and she stepped into the room to find others already seated.

All eyes turned to her on entrance, and her chin lifted reflexively, as the usher led her to her seat.

"The heiress of Luxe holdings finally decided to grace us with her presence," a man said.

She followed the voice, and instantly felt pity welling inside of her.

He was barely in his early thirties, but already had a receding hairline. It was quite unfortunate.

"Good afternoon everyone," she said, ignoring him.

"Good afternoon gorgeous," his voice was the loudest, and it was followed by a chuckle.

Her eyes went to him, and he waved. "Hi Xylon," she mouthed.

"You’re gorgeous," he mouthed back.

Landon looked at Ace who was obviously watching the exchange. His eyes went to his knuckles, and saw them twisted.

The corner of his lips twitch. It was going to be a damn good meeting
