THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 189: FAMTERVENTION
Chapter 189: FAMTERVENTION
"Ace! Are you not going to tell Fay to come with us? What if she ends up stranded?" Sophie moved closer to Ace, to ask him.
"No," he brusquely replied.
Stunned at his sharp response, even without giving space to think about it, she frowned.
"But what if she ends up stranded, and the rain starts to fall again?"
Ace had begun walking to his car, leaving Sophia hurrying behind him.
The twins were behind the both of them, plotting in whispers.
"Let it go, Sophie. I’m not giving her a lift," he responded stubbornly.
He opened the back doors, and waited for the girls to get in first, before he closed the door.
As he made for his door, he couldn’t help but to look towards Fay’s car.
The car didn’t seem like it would be moving anytime soon. A quick trip to his wristwatch showed it was getting late.
He contemplated walking up to her, and offering her a ride. However, as images of her naked body, straddling all those men for money, surface in his head, he shook his head.
She had found a way to swindle her way to the top. She could very much afford to navigate her way out of that situation.
He entered his car, and slammed the door shut.
The car was roaring to life, when he went through his phone quickly.
Briefly after, he placed the device in a compartment of his dashboard, and drove out.
"You’re really leaving, Ace? Please stop so we can get, Fay," Sophie whined with determination.
"I said no, Soph. You all seem to be the only ones that have forgotten what she tried to do to our family."
"Oh common, Ace. I can’t believe you still believe she’s all of that. Even if she was, look at her now. She’s so beautiful, and accomplished. I don’t think Grandpa Seth is the kind of man to be easily deceived," Claire said.
He scoffed. "What do you know about Seth? The man doesn’t make public appearances. You don’t know his character to so strongly believe he cannot be easily deceived."
"But we looked him up," Blaire countered. "He had sharp bright eyes. It does have a hint of green too. If you ask me, Fay favours him."
Ace rolled his eyes hard. "You three can continue in your delusions. I know the truth, and the truth remains that Fay isn’t who she portrays herself to be. At least now her veil is off, I hope you’ll be able to see clearly."
"There’s nothing wrong with Fay. She got more beautiful. Sure, the twinkle in her eyes is no longer as prominent as it was, but I could still feel it. And let’s not forget her scent. It got even better, and I didn’t think that was possible," Sophie defended her strongly.
Ace thought about her words in his head. Physically, everything she said about Fay was true.
She had gotten more beautiful, and elegant. Still, he truly believed she had evolved into playing a higher game. A much smarter game.
Unfortunately for her and the world, he wasn’t blinded to her lies. He could see her for what she was.
Never again would he put himself in a situation where the possibility of being manipulated by her, held strongly.
He simply refused to be controlled by her beauty she had not lost a touch of.
"Ace?!" Sophie called in a bratty tone.
Ignoring the preteen, he turned on the music, and increased it to the highest volume.
"You’re going to break our eardrums!" The twins screamed out, but he didn’t hear them, and for that, he was grateful.
Ace drove his car into the Atticus mansion, and came to a stop.
It had been a while since he visited. He only dropped by from time to time, whenever his presence was heavily needed.
He stepped out to open the door for his siblings. He had once told them a real man would always open their doors.
For that, they were eternally grateful. But as Sophie stepped out of the car, there wasn’t any iota of gratitude in her face.
"If anything happens to Fay, it’s all on you!" She said, before walking into the house.
"I can’t believe you, Ace," Blaire said.
"Yeah, I just can’t," Claire added.
The girls walked into the house, leaving him behind.
He was both stunned, and amused by their overreactions.
Did they realise that the position Fay had stolen came with heavy security? Nothing was going to hurt her.
But he couldn’t take any chances, he thought, picking up his phone from the dashboard.
Landon’s call came through at that exact moment.
"Hey, did you get my text?" Ace asked.
"I did. I sent the driver to the restaurant. But who are you trying to pick up? You didn’t tell me."
"It’s none of your business. Thanks anyway."
He quickly ended the call. Taking a deep breath, he walked into the house to say a quick hello.
"Sir Ace!" One of the maids almost screamed his ears off, when he entered the house. "Dinner is already on, and the matriarch insists you join her," she said.
"Oh—" he contemplated his options for a few seconds. Although things were rough between them, he couldn’t just turn down the matriarch’s offer. "Alright," he said, walking to the direction of the dining room.
"You won’t believe Ace left her there, ruthlessly!"
He heard as she walked into the dinning room.
All eyes present turned to his direction. Gabrielle’s face lit up when she saw him.
She didn’t think he would agree to pick up his siblings when she called him. But after remembering he never allowed his anger to affect the way he treated his siblings, she knew not to hesitate in asking for his assistance.
"Good evening everyone."
They all returned his greetings. Some more grudgingly than the others, but they returned his greetings.
Only one person didn’t bother to look at him. He had almost chopped his head off with worry, thinking about how Colin had grown distant.
He purposely acted cold towards him. That attitude of his began after Reign lost the pregnancy.
At that point in time, he thought he could rely on his family. But Colin in particular, had made it a mission to ignore him.
It almost made him feel like he was at fault for the pregnancy that never got to be.
"Come, Ace. Come sit beside me." The matriarch beckoned to him.
He took another trip around the table with his eyes, before he obliged. Neither Celine, nor her children were present.
Her children, he could stand. Ever since they returned, they had been nothing but sweet and supportive.
He was mostly grateful Celine was not around. He couldn’t deal with her attitude tonight.
"Don’t offer him a seat, grandma! I told you he blatantly refused to help Fay!" Sophie folded her hands, and pouted.
"Fay was so nice to us," Blaire continued from where Sophie stopped. "She said we had grown so much, and even called us pretty."
"Ace couldn’t keep his eyes off her. But when it was time to help, he became stubborn again," Claire, who had watched her brother stare at Fay all through, jumped into the conversation.
"I think that’s enough. We should eat, and not create a tense atmosphere because of someone in our past," Colin said.
"I can’t believe you, uncle Colin! You’ve changed so much." Sophie rose to her feet, ready to go to her room.
"Where are you going, Soph?" The matriarch called after her.
"To my room! I had more than enough to eat at the restaurant. Goodnight everyone. Well except, Ace!" She screamed, as her footsteps scurried away.
"Excuse me please," Gabrielle said, going after Sophie.
Ace continued eating in silence. He didn’t acknowledge anything else, and soon others followed.
The matriarch was deep in her thoughts, as she ate.
Over the years, she had kept up with Seth who gave her information on Fay..
She was glad one of her favourite people in the world had finally returned home again.
She couldn’t wait for the truth to be revealed, so her grandson could go back to being the empathetic person she knew.
Her eyes went to him. He was working so hard, she wished she could tell him the truth.
The clause about marrying, and staying married for a year before he could get Spades, was all of her doing.
It had nothing to do with her deceased husband.
Although, he did share the same sentiments when he was alive. But he had willed the company to Ace, regardless.
She added in the clause, because she wanted to see him responsible for someone else in her lifetime.
"I should get going," Ace said, after emptying his plate.
"Wait for me, Ace. We need to talk," the matriarch replied, also rising to her feet.
"Hey twins, I’ll see you some other time?"
"Sure," they mumbled.
"Colin?"
"Yeah," Colin replied nonchalantly.
He nodded, accepting that the relationship between them would probably never be the same again.
"I have something important to tell you," the matriarch said when they were alone in her office.
"What is it?"
"Glam needs to go live soon, but we need a face for it. Now that Fay is back, I’d like—"
"I’m not interested in anything that has to do with Fay. Excuse me grandma," he turned right around, and walked out of the room, leaving her words hanging in the air.
