THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 187: ONE AT A TIME

Chapter 187: ONE AT A TIME

"Fay, please calm down, and talk to me," Seth begged.

"I don’t want to hear it, grandpa! I just don’t want to see that bastard anywhere close to the things I hold dear. That includes you, and this house!"

She whirled, and almost jumped into the staff that had just entered the room.

"Dry the floors and whatever furniture was affected by the water," she ordered, before storming out.

The next place she ran too was to check on her daughter.

She entered the room, and let out the breath she had been holding when she saw her playing with her toys.

Her nanny looked up, and she quickly brought her fingers to her lips to silence her.

Tiptoeing back, she gently closed the door, and rested her back against it.

She shut her eyes, waiting for her pounding heart to settle.

God, she had been livid! She couldn’t just wrap her head around the fact Ace waltz into her home just to discredit her.

That after so many years, he would still dare to question her character, said a lot.

It meant he didn’t regret all he did to her that night. To have taken a piece of her, then circle back to hurt and humiliate her. Yet, he didn’t show an ounce of repentance.

She was going to take it easy with him, but not anymore.

The Atticus were going to hear from her soon. One after the other, she would turn their empires to ashes.

Pushing her foot forward, she walked to her room, grabbed her documents, and was on her way back to the office in no time.

"I want to see the names of all the companies I asked you to cut off partnership with on my table, right now!" Fay commanded her personal assistant, as she walked into her office.

She had not bothered to look at their names. The only thing she knew was that the company needed space to breathe. And with so many collaborations, it was impossible to do that.

With that in mind, she had simply sent a memo that stated the termination of already expired contracts, giving no room for renewal.

Before she took her seat, her system blinked, signalling the document had been sent.

"Efficient," she muttered, taking a seat.

And of course, the first company she saw when she opened the file, was none other than Spades.

"Bastard!" She cursed between her teeth.

No wonder he had gone ahead to seek her grandfather out. He was worried about the fact she didn’t renew the contract with his company, and in response, was lashing out on her.

"I hate him so much!" She almost screamed, as she closed her eyes.

Taking deep breaths, she calmed herself, until finally, she was ready to continue.

She reached out for her desk phone to make a call, when a knock sounded on the door.

Her PA came in right after.

"What do you want?" She asked, her hand still resting on the telephone.

"Ma’am, I’m here to inform you about your meeting with the board members. They’re ready for you."

"Damn it!" She kissed her teeth, and folded a fist.

The time she had spent in returning home to grab the documents, coupled with her unfortunate encounter with Ace, made her forget about the meeting.

"Alright, I’ll be right there. Bring my briefcase with you, would you?" She asked, rising to her feet.

"Yes ma’am."

She walked out of her office, and went straight to the boardroom she had been shown, on her first day at the company.

Her PA hurried ahead of her, and opened the doors of the room for her.

She muttered a thank you, and strutted in. Mentally, she counted about ten people present.

She had studied each of their names, their roles, and how indispensable they were.

As she sat on her chair at the head of the table, she crossed her legs.

"I’m sorry for being late," she spoke after taking her time to look around. "Can we begin?"

"I think your first mistake is thinking you can just walk in for a scheduled meeting whenever you like," a man far right to her said.

She recognized him from her research. Jace Carlton. Close friend of Richard Jackson, the former president of the company.

It was expected he would defend his friend. Stupid, but very much expected.

"Do you want me to grovel at your feet so you can hear my apology clearer, Mr Carlton?"

Everyone in the room began to shift uncomfortably in their seats.

"No, I just expect you to know better. But considering you went from a swindler to seating at the highest position anyone could imagine themselves in, I’ll say it’s pretty on brand," he replied.

She inhaled sharply, willing herself to calm down.

The news of last night’s altercation had made the rounds. The media had dug out her history. Perhaps, even videos from when she was kicked off the Atticus house had resurfaced. She had fully predicted all of that.

Now that everything was out, no one could use her past to blackmail her.

Despite the harshness of his words, she smiled. However, her smile held no warmth.

It was brutal, and filled with the promise of carnage.

She rose to her feet, and pushed her chair back into position.

Walking over to the projected screen, she grabbed a mouse from her PA, and began to navigate the contents of her laptop which was projected on the screen.

The rest of the board members whispered between themselves, wondering why she had failed to respond to Carlton.

She swiftly turned when the content of the screen was tailored to what she wanted.

"By the end of this meeting, there’ll be just five of you left. I understand why you’re going on the attack, Mr Carlton. You’re sure to be joining your best friend in the gulag soon. Shall we begin?"

"You can’t just—"

A feminine voice was saying when she quickly cut them off.

"I can do whatever the fuck I want to do. This is my company! If you’re not a thief, you shouldn’t be worried about being burnt in this witch hunt," she airquoted. "Like you all have tagged it. Let us begin!"

At the end of the meeting, five new people had every curse in the book reserved for her.

She paid them no attention as she walked out of the room.

The greed of man was insatiable! She thought, on her way to her office.

They had stolen so much from the company, it was a miracle it wasn’t already sinking.

To crown it all, they couldn’t even recognize the wrong they did.

She walked back into her office, and slammed the door shut behind her.

Her next agenda was simple, to introduce her fragrance brand to the world.

To do that, she needed to speak with an old acquaintance.

Grabbing the telephone again, she dialled Xylon Bass.

It started to rain on Fay’s return to the house.

The day had been another productive day. She weeded out a lot more thieves, and traitors of the company.

She fully expected that any moment from now, they would start to sue. Or at least call on the media to spread propaganda about her.

None of that mattered to her. She had capable lawyer’s waiting to help her fight them off.

Her biggest concern was how to get back at Ace and his family.

Still deep in her thoughts, her head went to the window, and she caught sight of a familiar building ahead.

She jolted up, and called the attention of her driver.

"What do you need, ma’am?"

"Stop at that building," she ordered.

He did as he was commanded, driving into the restaurant.

It was still the same, she observed, as she stepped out of the car, into the umbrella already opened for her.

Her driver escorted her into the finger food restaurant.

She wanted Dream to get a taste of the food she was also once obsessed with.

"Ma’am, do you want me to make an order for you?" Her driver asked when they entered the building.

"No, I’ll do it myself. I’ll just order by the counter, then we can leave."

"Alright ma’am."

Fay walked over to the counter to place an order.

The staff present was bent over when she arrived. They straightened up when they felt her presence, whilst she was still figuring out a way to call for their attention.

She blinked when she saw the face of the staff.

"Fay?" The girl called. "It’s really you! You’re really back!"

Fay finally recognized her. She was one of Ace’s sisters. One of the twins.

"Claire?"

"It’s actually Blaire," she chuckled. "Wow, you look good!"

"Why are you yapping on the job, Blaire? Sophie’s ready to go home!"

Claire said, walking in on them. She paused, when her eyes went in the direction of her twin.

But before she could speak, Sophie, who she was holding, spoke first.

"Fay?" She called.

Fay’s heart skipped a beat as she turned around. It was Sophie, but not her little Sophie. This was a whole preteen.
