THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 146: DESIRES ACT
Chapter 146: DESIRES ACT
Fay sat quietly beside Ace as he drove back to the house.
She didn’t like to be a liar, but they were unfortunately things she had to do to keep life less complicated.
From the corner of her eyes, she stared at him, expecting to see a scowl on his face.
But he looked at the same time, and their eyes met.
"Are you okay?" He beat her to it.
"I’m fine. Are you?"
He shrugged, shaking his head from side to side. "It’s whatever."
She sighed and closed her eyes. There was never just peace, and she was too exhausted trying to find it.
He caught the movement and relaxed. Things would be naturally weird, but he didn’t want it to ruin the evening they had. By all indications, it had been a very productive night.
Connecting his music app to the dashboards Bluetooth, he began to play a tune.
Fay smiled in her mind. They were both too overwhelmed by everything that happened to have a proper conversation. The music was good. After all, it was food for the soul.
Half an hour later, Ace pulled into his compound, and rolled the car to a stop.
He turned his head to the side and found Fay’s eyes open, as she also stared at him.
"Hey," he said, and smiled.
"Hey," she replied.
He was about to open his hand so she could place hers in it, when the door opened.
His eyes flew swiftly to the door, and that was when he discovered he had not locked it.
Rolling his eyes when Marilyn’s frame became visible, he glared at her.
She didn’t even bother to check on him. Ever since Fay arrived, it was all about her for most of his staff. It was cool to note when he wasn’t in the picture. Not when he wanted to have a moment with his own wife.
"Mrs Fay! You’re back!" She almost dragged her out of the car just to hug her.
When she was fully out, she wrapped her arms around her in a fierce hug. "I was getting so worried when you didn’t return on time. Next time, please call to say you’ll be coming late."
Fay laughed at her dramatics. Her days of being weirded out by this kind of open display of affection was long past her. Especially coming from Marilyn and Alice.
They had taught her how to love openly. She knew there was no evil intentions behind their hugs, and words. Her heart had accepted it too.
"Thank God you’re home," Marilyn said, as they continued into the house.
Ace grumbled towards the house, wondering how his own wife had easily forgotten they came together.
It was the fault of Marilyn, he decided. She thought she was responsible for Fay, and would rather get in his way than work hand in hand with him.
He paused, realising he was just acting like a child. So what if she had someone who also adored her that much? That person wasn’t a threat to their relationship either. It was a good thing. Something worth being proud over.
After confronting his envy, he continued walking.
"Would you like me to get you a cup of juice? Or calming tea. Alice is still not returning until after the birthday party. Doesn’t mean I can’t whip up a thing or two for you," Marilyn suggested as they climbed up the stairs.
"I don’t think so. I really don’t want to bother you, Mar. I already told you Ace took me to a restaurant."
"Do you want to tell me everything about that experience?" She grinned from ear to ear as they stopped in the middle of the hallway.
"Okay, maybe over a glass of juice," she said, careful not to mention she hadn’t eaten to her satisfaction.
She didn’t want Marilyn to feel compelled to make her something from scratch. Especially if there was not any food readily available.
"Alright!" She turned around in hasty excitement, and ran past Ace.
"Welcome back, sir Ace!" She screamed over her shoulders, as she took the stairs.
He looked behind him, and shook his head. Yeah, he became barely existent whenever Fay was around.
Speaking of Fay, he turned to see she was still standing in the hallway.
His heels that were about to pick up towards his room remained rooted as he contemplated what to do.
The day flashed before his eyes. He was exhausted, hence the instruction he left with Cam to bring in all the gifts they had gotten when he had rested and was free to do it.
But he couldn’t just leave when she wasn’t making any attempt to leave either.
They stood there, staring at each other for a few seconds. One waiting for the other to move first.
Ace, tired of the suspense, strode forward purposefully.
Before he even stopped in front of her, he had pulled her into his body, and brought his lips down on her.
He kissed her until she began to tremble in his arms.
That was all he wanted. For her to respond to him with the same passion and desire she spurred in him.
Marilyn, who was coming from behind with a tray in her, dropped it to the ground when she saw what was happening in front of her.
A blush crept up her face and she quickly averted her gaze.
She wasn’t sure what had happened between that morning and this night, but she couldn’t be more grateful for whatever it was.
For a moment there, she had actually thought there wasn’t going to be any reconciliation. Fay had sounded that way with her insistence on selling her products for money.
Now it seemed like they were back on track.
"Goodnight Fay," Ace said breathlessly as they pulled away.
"Good–goodnight," she replied, her voice barely audible.
He turned around, and Marilyn lowered her gaze some more.
"Goodnight Marilyn," he said, walking past her.
"Good night sir Ace," she stuttered.
She waited until his legs had faded away, before she ran to Fay.
"Heyyy!" She almost broke into an excited scream.
"Hush!" Fay closed her mouth. "Let’s go." She nudged her head towards her door.
Marilyn nodded, and they walked to her room. As soon as they entered the room, Marilyn let loose.
"Oh my God, Mrs Fay! You have to tell me everything that happened! Everything!"
"I know right? Do you want to sit down for this?" She dropped to the bed, and patted the empty space beside her.
Marilyn nodded, but grabbed a stool first and placed the tray on it.
She moved it to the edge of the bed. "Your juice, Mrs Fay."
"Just leave it there, and come sit!" Fay said excitedly.
She wanted to share her joy so bad. There wasn’t anyone better than one of the very first people that treated her like a human in a very long time.
She also wished Alice was present. Alice, and maybe Leighton too.
"What happened? Tell me everything!" She sat beside her.
She was about to explain when a knock sounded on her door.
"Maybe that’s Sir Ace!" Marilyn teased.
Fay laughed. "Who’s there?" She called.
"It’s Cam, Mrs Fay."
"I’ll go get it."
Marilyn jumped to her feet before Fay could move, and went to the door.
She opened it, and revealed Cam standing with a bag in his hand.
"Let him come in, Mar," Fay said.
Marilyn moved to the side, and Cam stepped into the room.
"Mrs Fay, sir Ace asked me to give this to you."
"What’s that?" Marilyn asked nosily.
"It’s food from the restaurant."
Her brows furrowed. "Why? I thought we already ate?" Fay asked.
"Yeah. He said he didn’t think you were okay with the food."
Fay couldn’t help the smile that filled her eyes. He had noticed her dissatisfaction. He had to have been paying heavy attention to her to notice something like that.
"That’s so nice of him. Thank you Cam."
He bowed, and left the room. Marilyn brought the food over to the tray she had set at the foot of the table.
"Mrs Fay, it’s food. I thought you said you were satisfied."
"Yeah," she said. "I didn’t want to worry you. But there’s food now. Eat with me."
"Uhhmm, no. If you’ve not eaten, I don’t want to bother you. Just eat, I’ll watch you."
"No," Fay shook her head. "I don’t want to do that. I want us to eat together. That way, I can tell you everything I want to tell you."
Marilyn thought over it for a while. She wanted to hear the juicy details of everything that had happened. If that required her eating with Fay, then so be it.
"Alright!" She giggled. "Let’s do it."
Fay scooted over for her, as the tray was lifted from the stool to the bed.
"I wish Alice was here too," Marilyn said, opening the wrapped box.
"It’s chicken!" Fay exclaimed.
"It sure is," Marilyn laughed, and Fay joined in a few seconds after.
