THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 145: A LITTLE CONFRONTATION
Chapter 145: A LITTLE CONFRONTATION
Dinner ended an hour after the call, and Fay was only happy to finally leave. It wasn’t because she didn’t enjoy the company of the people around, but because she wanted to go home and rest.
After that, she would like to think about how she would navigate the latest problem that was Xylon Bass.
There was also the case of greed, which manifested in the hunger she still felt.
If only she could get more food without looking like a greedy pig.
She stood outside waiting for Ace to be done with whatever transaction they were doing so they could leave.
As she stood by the car, her eyes went to the entrance of the restaurant, and she experienced a brief whiplash.
She saw Alexander again, but it was just a memory. That was what thought until she felt someone tap her shoulders. She blinked, and he was still standing before her.
"Alexander?" Her brows raised as her eyes widened.
"I knew it was you!" His face spread into an affectionate smile.
"What are you doing here?" She questioned, still in big shock.
"Are you okay?" His smile began to dwindle when she didn’t return it but only stared at him with bulging eyes.
Her lashes fluttered as she snapped out of her shock. "It’s so good to see you!"
She was already in his arms before she realised what she was doing. It was too late to leave, because he had wrapped his hand around her.
Alexander couldn’t believe his luck. He had a feeling to step out of the hospital and go get food in his favourite restaurant all day, but had decided to leave it until the evening.
He had fate to thank for making him stumble into her. He had missed her face terribly, and knew there was no way he could freely see her like the way he did in the hospital.
Back at the entrance, Makayla was first to exit through the door.
She was walking towards the parking lot when she came to an abrupt halt on spotting Fay hugging a stranger.
With curiosity lifting her brows, she drew closer to them.
"Fay?" She called.
Alexander felt a shudder run through her, as she jerked out of his hold. She whipped her body around, and came face to face with Makayla.
Guilt consumed her face as she stared anxiously at her.
"Who is he?" Makayla asked, more interested in the handsome man than the fact Fay was panicking.
"The doctor," she quickly explained.
"Oh!" Her brow snapped together. "You’re the doctor Alexander? Wow! You’re hot!" She blurted bluntly.
Alexander was taken aback for a few seconds, but it quickly passed. "Hello," he said.
"Oh My God! You’re British too? Good for you Fay!"
"Oh no, it’s not like that. We’re just friends," Fay stumbled over her words to explain.
"Oh you don’t need to explain anything to me, my love. I’ve seen how you are with Ace. There’s definitely nothing between you and this gorgeous hunk," Fay felt the tightening in her chest lifting off when Makayla said, "But I heard you’re in love with Fay. Is that true?"
Fay’s heart double pounded against her chest in one split second.
"I think Fay is a great girl. I’d like to think we’re friends. Is that so wrong?" he asked.
"Of course not. It’s just the answer I wanted to hear too. Makayla." she stretched out her hand to him.
"Nice to meet you, I’m Alexander." He accepted her hands and shook it firmly.
She held his gaze, fluttering her lashes at intervals.
Fay, just grateful she wasn’t being suspected, lifted her head at the same time Ace, Landon and Cam stepped out.
Once more, her heart rate, which was just returning to its normal beating rate, surged through the roof again.
This wasn’t a good look on her. She had excused herself to go out first because she said she needed fresh air.
What did it look like bumping into Alexander? Wouldn’t they just think that she purposely stepped out to see him?
There was also the case of the lie she had told before. The second she remembered, her fingers began to tremble.
If she had remembered in time, she would have asked him to pretend he called her earlier. Everything was going to blow up in her face, all because of a little lie.
Alexander tried to apply a little pressure so he could pull his hands away, but Makayla refused to budge. From under his lashes, he stared at Fay.
Her face had returned to ghost mode. He followed her gaze and found Ace approaching.
A frown instantly covered his face. She still looked so scared around that bastard. How could she be married to someone she obviously feared greatly? He wondered.
"I knew it was you!" Landon said when he arrived in their midst. "It’s so good to see you, doctor Alexander."
"It’s good to see you too," he said, and tried to pull his hands out of Makaylas hold and transfer it to Landon’s.
She simply refused to let go. Landon’s eyes travelled down, and it instantly understood what was going on.
Shaking his head, he placed both hands on each side of Makaylas shoulders, and pulled her back. "Let the young man’s hand go, you weirdo!" He screamed into her ears.
She jumped, and turned to him. "What is wrong with you?" She raged at him.
"Stopping you from further embarrassing yourself. You should be grateful to me," he snarled, and turned to Alexander. "I’m sorry. She can be a bit of a weirdo," he explained.
"It’s no problem. I guess it’s part of her charm."
"Oh don’t you say that, like that, with that sexy accent of yours!" Makayla said, biting her lips seductively.
"Goodness, Kay, get a grip!"
Whilst this entire conversation was happening, Ace was giving Cam some instructions.
"Yes boss," Cam said, and hurried with the bag he had been handed to the other car.
Ace proceeded forward, taking note of everyone present, and what the general body language was.
Fay held her breath until he stopped before them.
"Doctor Alexander," he called.
It wasn’t enough that the man called his wife whenever he wanted, he was also stalking her too? Surely, there was cause for a lawsuit somewhere.
"Good evening Mr Ace," Alexander said.
"I’m sure it is for you," he replied sarcastically.
"I think we should just say our goodnight, and see each other some other time," Landon said, stepping in. He knew if he didn’t, Ace was ready to take this to hell.
"Yeah, let’s do that," Alexander said, making no move to leave.
His gaze held Ace’s in a challenge only the both of them could understand.
Fay felt hot and flushed all over. She just wanted this nightmare to be over without being completely burned. If her lies were exposed, she could be in serious trouble with Ace.
"Ace?" Makayla called when she realised that this was a battle of foolish egos.
He didn’t reply, didn’t even budge. Neither did the doctor.
She was both amused and amazed. All of this masculinity shows off for one woman? She understood it though. The girl wasn’t just an ordinary girl. Definitely the most gorgeous woman she had seen in her entire life.
It didn’t come as a surprise men of all calibres were fighting over her. She was just more shocked Ace was part of those men.
He usually prides himself as the one women fought themselves over. He never did the fighting.
"Ace, I think it’s getting late. Let’s go," Fay gathered enough courage to say.
"She’s right, Ace. Remember we have to be up early," Landon added.
"I know. I just think the person who met us here should be the one to leave first. Right, Fay?"
"Yeah, you’re right," she quickly replied. She knew what he was trying to do. He didn’t want Alexander to think that there was even the slightest chance of opportunity between them. If humouring him was going to make him drop the fight, she would do that.
It was just unfortunate Alexander would bear the brunt of everything. She may not be in love with him, but she cherished him dearly.
When Alexander still refused to move, she decided to make him. They would never leave if she didn’t. Thankfully, Ace had not remembered to ask him why he called her before. He was as blunt as he was confrontational.
She stepped forward, and grabbed Alexander’s hand. "Hey, maybe we should talk later. I’ll ask Leighton if she wants us to see and talk. That way, we can all hangout. How does that sound?"
"Don’t patronise me, Fay," he said, shocked at the lengths she was willing to go to bend to the wills of Ace Atticus.
It must be amazing to be him. To have the whole world bow to him so his ego wouldn’t get hurt. A really miserable life.
"I’m not," she replied, a tinge of hurt in her voice, as her hands dropped to her side.
"Sure," he said. "Goodnight Fay."
He didn’t wait to hear her response, as he walked out of their sight swiftly.
