THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 133: FANTASTIC DUO
Chapter 133: FANTASTIC DUO
The big clock in Ace Atticus’ office chimed, and he turned his head to see it was midday.
"Can’t believe we’ve been working non-stop all morning. Accounting days are so stressful." Landon yawned and stretched his body.
"We’re almost done. Two more paperwork, and we’re free for the weekend," Ace replied.
"Speaking of the weekends, what are your plans?" Landon’s eyes twinkled mischievously.
"Whatever plans you think you have, unplan it. I want to have a quiet, restful weekend in my house."
"With the wifey?" His lips twitched.
Ace rolled his eyes and sighed. "She’s mad at me. Rightfully so. I’ve not caught even a glimpse of her for the past week. I do miss her, but I also brought this on myself. I fucked up man."
"Hey, don’t be too hard on yourself. You didn’t know Makayla was going to maul you like a hungry bear. At least you’re finally admitting you don’t want to hurt your wife. Which can only mean you have feelings for her." He waited for Ace to counter him the way he usually would, but when it didn’t come, he was compelled to speak.
"Do you have feelings for Fay?" He asked.
"I don’t know what it is. If there’s a definition for it. When I’m around her, I lose control. I want to have her, if you know what I mean. It’s probably just sexual attraction because it’s been a while."
Landon laughed. "Remember our bet? I mean technically, you do owe me. Didn’t you have something with Reign?"
"That doesn’t count," he hissed, and continued going through the documents on his screen. "She’s a madness I need to find a cure for."
"Fay or Reign?"
"Both in two different ways."
"Fair enough."
They sat in silence for an extra hour, working on the last two documents.
Ace couldn’t keep the thoughts of Fay away. He missed her presence terribly. Her smile was something he could do with, especially with how hectic the past week had been.
There was also her scent, that made the day bright and beautiful. She was an angel in every sense of the world, and he was even beginning to think she was his angel.
"And done!" Landon said, closing his laptop.
"Yeah, forward it, and I’ll take a quick look," Ace replied.
The file popped up on his screen before he was even done with his request.
He opened, and carefully looked at every figure to ascertain they all tallied.
Satisfied with the work his dear friend had done, he saved the files after adding it to the ones they had done before.
With that move, came the end of the financial accounting period.
It was time to kickback and relax. God knew he needed a full day to recuperate.
As he covered his system, he lifted his head to the awaiting mischievous glance of his best friend.
"Stop looking at me that way. It’s not funny."
Landon let out a brief laughter. "I can’t help it, friend. You just seem so different. More reflective. It’s beautiful to witness."
"And you’re just as annoying as ever. I guess we’re a match made in hell."
The door opened at the same time Landon moved to respond.
"Good afternoon sir, Ms—"
Lynette shoved past Grant, and walked hand in hand with Makayla.
"They’re here to see you," Grant said, slightly embarrassed at how he was easily dismissed.
Without waiting to be told, he carefully turned around, and closed the door behind him as he walked away.
"Is there a reason we didn’t get notified of your presence? You do know you’re a stakeholder and this is accounting week, yeah?" Landon asked.
Lynette rolled her eyes. "I don’t care about those stupid rules."
Makayla had gone ahead. She walked behind Ace, and wrapped her hand around his neck from behind. Placing a big kiss on his hair, she smiled. "I missed your beautiful face, my love."
He shoved her out of his body, and dragged her before him. "Makayla? What did I tell you about boundaries?"
She rolled her eyes, and pouted.
Lynette who watched the exchange chuckled. "I’m afraid our little Makayla is yet to come to terms with the fact you’re married. You can’t blame her though. The Ace and Landon duo are infamous. Which girl’s heart wouldn’t break at the thought of either one of you being married?" She laughed as she took a seat.
Ace scoffed. "Boundaries should still be maintained. Besides, when did you two become so close?" He asked, his suspicious gaze darting between both of them.
"What?!" Makayla scrunched her nose, as she walked away, and plopped on the couch in the room.
"I’ve known Lynnette darling for a while now. She’s seriously a good time. One of the nonjudgmental older women. I like her."
"And I love you too, my darling. Your mother and I used to take Paris by a storm. Not until she met that unfortunate husband of hers who almost stole her youth, and brains. I heard she’s getting out already. You better too. If you don’t, he’ll use you the same way he used your mother. I don’t think you want that."
"That I can agree with. He is a user, Kay," Landon said.
"Oh Landon, what do I do? Since Ace is married now, and can’t fornicate with me anymore, do you want to replace him?" She teased.
He shook his head, but a smile danced around his lips. He was always grateful for Makayla’s presence. When she was around, there was someone more degenerate.
"This is a sacred workplace, please," Ace said.
"Who wants to bet this room has seen more vagina’s than a harlot’s parlour?" Lynette asked.
"No no no no. I’ll defend Ace on this. He doesn’t sleep with anyone in his office. It’s strictly for business," Landon tried to get his defence in, but his words were drowned out by the hysterical laughter of the ladies.
Ace watched them in amusement. They were mostly annoying, but he was grateful to have people he had known for so long around him.
Friendships that had stood the test of time. He was happy.
"Hey," Lynette snapped a hand across his face. "I came to see you, both of you for a reason," she said.
"What’s that reason, beautiful woman?" Landon, who was sitting beside her, asked.
"Uhmm, it’s about a financial decision I want to make. My daughter has decided to return to the states. I want to relinquish my shares to her. But you’ve also told me you want sole ownership of Spades soon. I’m contemplating if I should just let you buy it, or give it to her while I work on my company. When mine is done, she can take over, and then return your shares. After you buy it, of course."
Ace stroked his chin, as his eyes took on a thoughtful expression. It was true he wanted sole ownership of Spades. For decades, Spades had always had shareholders. He understood his grandfather’s needs for a community, but he realised it had only ever caused unnecessary disputes.
They were liquid enough for sole ownership. But he also didn’t want to raise any suspicion yet.
"I think you should wait. You don’t want to raise suspicion," Landon said.
"Get out of my mind, bro."
Lynette smiled. "You two have been close all your lives, and now you even think the same way."
"Landon is right, and I also had the same thought. Celine is very intuitive. This decision is something I want to blindside her. Transfer it to your daughter if you must. When it’s time, I’ll buy it from her."
"All this talk of business, and shares, and the witch, Celine. When are we going to have some real fun?" Makayla whined.
"You do know there’ll come a time when you have to grow up, don’t you?" Landon asked.
"You’re the one to talk to." she scoffed.
"Oh darling, I play hard. I just work harder."
"Since we’re answering questions, do you not have any plans to manage your family’s company? Why do you work with Ace when you have your own empire?"
"Because I can?"
"Because he can?"
Ace and Landon said at the same time.
"Okay wonder twins." Makayla raised her hands up in surrender.
Lynette laughed. "I think you need to leave these two alone."
"And place the admin records on my desk before the close of the day. I think I’ve given your department enough time." The door opened, and Celine Atticus stepped in.
Taking the phone off her ears, she placed it in her suit pockets, and walked into the room.
"I can see you’re busy partying when the entire company is working hard to finish off a stressful week?" She said, looking from Lynette to Makayla.
Ace’s head suddenly began to throb. He closed his eyes, but opened it just as quickly.
"Aren’t you such a ray of sunlight, Celine?" Lynette asked sarcastically.
"You don’t have to take a sarcastic tone with me. Remember, it’s against the rules to be around during accounting week." A hint of warning ended her words.
Lynette opened her mouth to speak, but Ace quickly intervened.
"What do you want?"
"Copy of the Dexter deal. Why haven’t I seen it?"
"I’ll send it now. Can you leave my office?"
"Not until you explain why you’re breaking the rules again," she replied, determined to start a fight.
