THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 132: XYLON BASS
Chapter 132: XYLON BASS
Fay held her breath for a few seconds but slowly released it when Cam whipped his head behind.
He wore a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes, and she noticed.
"Sit tight, Mrs Fay. I’ll just briefly check what has happened," he said, as if they were both not aware he had bashed someone’s car.
For lack of words or zeal to express how terrified she was of her day being utterly ruined by this turn of event, she bobbed her head slowly.
Cam took off his seat belt, and stepped out of the car.
He was greeted by the furious gaze of the driver just slightly ahead of him. In his head, he started to calculate the cost and consequences of hitting a car as luxurious as the one he had hit.
If he told Ace, he would find a way to handle it, but what about his pride? A driver for over ten years should have seen this coming, and done everything in their power to avoid it. But no, he had been too occupied by the madam’s invading scent to take note of the car ahead, slowing down.
"Good afternoon Sir," he said to the man who had waited patiently for him to come to him.
"Finally, you decide to join me. Can you explain how you plan on fixing my bumper?" He asked in an accent that sounded southern.
"I’m really sorry for not seeing your trafficator. I was a little bit preoccupied, but rest assured, I will fix the car."
"Well I’ll have you know—"
"What’s taking so long, Ralph?" A man’s voice asked, as shiny Italian shoes stepped out of the backseat of the car.
Slowly, Cam’s head lifted all the way up, until it came in contact with the face of the handsome billionaire.
Recognition flashed in his eyes, and his knuckles tensed.
Anyone who had been around billionaires, and empire connoisseurs knew who he was. The son of a renowned billionaire in the industrial steel market, turned president of Bass Steel.
He was none other than Ace’s biggest rival, bar his Aunt: Xylon Bass.
Cams face grew pale, as he stared into the cool brown eyes of the man who had a slight scowl on his face.
"Is anyone going to explain what is happening?"
"Sir," his driver took it upon himself to respond. "This man bashed our car. I believe our bumper has been damaged."
"You believe or you’re certain?" Xylon asked, much to Cam’s surprise.
He didn’t know the billionaire had been on an important call when the whole thing happened. Before he could tell his driver to ignore, and drive ahead, because there was somewhere important he had to be, the proactive man had taken it upon himself to stop the car.
"I believe if I check, I’ll be justified." To gather evidence of his strong hunch, he walked to the back of the car, and there it was.
There was a dent alright, but nothing that could possibly warrant his anger.
At the same time, Cam checked his car. He noticed the bulk of the damage had happened to theirs. He could easily fix that though. All he needed was the magical hand of his uncle who had been a mechanic for the past twenty years.
That aside, he needed to find a way to get out of any possible problems with Xylon, without him knowing he worked for Ace Atticus.
"There you have it Sir. Just look at this."
With a sigh of annoyance, Xylon walked behind to check the damage done.
Of course, it was as irrelevant as he imagined it would be. Just a minor bump that could be easily replaced.
He turned behind to look at the damage done to the car that had hit his own car, but instead, jolted into a pause when the door opened, and a woman stepped out of the car.
His eyes went from her long straight legs, up to her waist which were tiny and slightly curved, before continuing up to her face.
It was her face that rendered him breathless and unable to move. She was by far the most stunning creature he had ever seen.
A unique face that screamed of a thousand magical creatures. She stole his breath away, and made him want to drop to his knees and worship the ground she walked on. Xylon Grey never dropped to his knees for anyone.
"Hey Cam, what’s going on here?" Fay asked, initially oblivious of the man she had rendered dumb simply by showing up.
However, she stopped in her tracks when she noticed him.
"There is an influx of handsome men in the City," was the first thought that came to her head.
He was indeed handsome. His jaw could cut through a surface with how sharp it was. A blonde beauty with lips a shade of red, just like hers.
She stopped before him, and hoped to God she didn’t embarrass herself. "Hello," she said.
Xylon could feel the men’s eyes on him. He couldn’t afford to embarrass himself in their presence. Although she was worth every embarrassment he could possibly cause himself.
"Hey, I’m Xylon. Xylon Bass." He stretched out his hand for a handshake.
"Fay," she said, taking his.
He wrapped his hand around the hand she had given him, and brought it to his lip.
Behind, Cam released the breath he was holding, grateful for whatever told Fay not to mention Atticus as her last name.
Unnerved by the kiss the stranger had just placed on her hands, she skillfully pulled her hand away, and smiled awkwardly.
"You’re stunning," he blurted out before he could help himself.
Ralph, his driver, could not believe the sudden turn of events. He knew his boss was always moved by a stunning face. Add in a rare beauty like hers, and he may as well kiss his thirst for justice goodbye.
"You smell incredible too," he continued, unable to physically stop himself from heaping compliments after compliments on her.
"Thank you," a rose tint formed on her face, as she averted her gaze shyly. This was the millionth stranger telling her she was stunning. Previously, she would find an awkward way to redirect the conversation. But now she was starting to really believe she might be pretty, she couldn’t help but feel bubbly by the compliment. "I’m so sorry for your car," she said when she found her voice again.
With great difficulty that caused a visible strain in his facial muscles, he looked past her to her car. "Looks like yours got the bulk of the damage. I know this car repair guy who is like the best in the country. If you like, I could take you there, so he repairs mine the same time he repairs yours." He suggested, holding on to the luck he had garnered for years, in wait for a positive response.
Fay searched through her head for a quick response. She didn’t know how to tell him she could neither afford to pay for his car’s damage, or even hers. Slowly, she started to come to terms with the fact she would just have to pay with Ace’s card.
The realisation left a sour taste on her tongue, and a thick mist in her heart.
"You don’t have to worry Sir. I’ll just pay for your damage, and go fix mine," Cam said from behind.
Xylon rolled his eyes internally. He had already calculated the guy was the driver. He hoped they didn’t have any relationship because he wanted her to himself. He wasn’t the kind of man to let a relationship stand in his way.
Whatever Xylon wanted, Xylon usually got.
"Look," he continued as if it was just a breeze that had made a sound. "I really think my driver should also have been more vigilant. I feel sorry that you’re in this position. Let me take you to this guy I know. He’ll handle it, and I’ll pay for it. I would feel incredibly guilty if I end up ruining the day of someone as stunning as you are. Please help me be the good guy?"
He smiled, and her heart did a double take. Something about him reminded her all too well of Gabriel. The same man who destroyed her heart in such a horrible way.
But it wasn’t his bad parts he reminded her of. No, quite the contrary. He reminded her of how carefree Gabriel was. Those types were usually very crafty in weaving their way into one’s unguarded heart.
"Then thank God yours is guarded by Ace Atticus. Remember, your husband?" One of her disturbing voices asked.
How could she forget? Not when he was a constant pest in her head. The first thing she had done was compare both men. The results showed that despite Xylon’s charms, Ace was a hard man to beat. At least in the looks department.
"Damn you smell so good!"
That sealed it for her. A man who complimented her and was willing to pay for the damages her driver caused? If not now, when would she ever get to use this pretty privilege everyone talked about?
"Cam?" She raised her head. "Let’s follow the gentleman," she said, and it was an order.
