THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 131: DESTINATION HAZARD
Chapter 131: DESTINATION HAZARD
Fay was looking for the driver that drove her the day she went to Ace’s hotel, but paused and smiled when she saw Cam instead.
She was halfway enroute to him when she stopped, and her senses returned.
She was doing so well until she almost allowed sentiments to override logic again.
Cam was close to Ace. He was loyal to a fault. If she asked him to drive her around, when he probably had been instructed not to let her out, he would refuse.
Her options were just one. To turn around, run to the gate, and hope to God Frank was kind enough to open it.
"And where exactly would you get the money for a taxi?" A voice in her head asked.
Good question, she thought.
She would have to take from the card again, and it would just make Ace think he could continuously control her.
No! If she had any chances of succeeding, she had to stick to the plan.
Besides, Cam looked to be in a cheerful mood. He was in conversation with another man she was just seeing for the first time. Or perhaps, she had forgotten his face. Although, none of that mattered.
What mattered was to get through to him, and voila! She would be well on her way to selling some perfumes, and making money good enough to buy a child some beautiful gifts.
Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself for the battle ahead.
She strolled casually towards Cam, and the man, chatting away.
As if they sensed her presence, their conversation stopped, and they both turned to her at the same time.
Cam froze for a few seconds. When he regained his senses, he suddenly felt heat creep all over his body.
The reaction wasn’t much different for his friend who was struggling with his breath.
She was unarguably the most stunning woman he had ever laid eyes on. She reminded him of magic and enchantments.
Fay, ignorant of their reactions, smiled and waved. "Good morning. Sorry for interrupting your conversation, but I need your help, Cam."
"My– my he-lp?" He stuttered.
"Yes, your help. But if you’re too busy, I understand." She faltered, unsure of herself.
"Oh no!" He quickly said. "Not at all. I’m not busy. Never been busy. Just free as a bird. Right, Callum?" He laughed nervously, and grabbed his partner by the hand.
"Certainly!" Callum stepped in, understanding his friend’s reaction.
He had heard about the boss’s wife, but never got the opportunity to meet her. Now that he had, he understood there was not one exaggeration in sight. He dared say her appearance was understated.
"Callum? I’m Fay." She stretched out her hands to him.
Callum couldn’t believe his luck. He didn’t just get to see the boss’s wife, but was also privileged to touch her.
He looked beside him, as if he was asking permission from Cam. If only he knew Cam wished nothing more than to be in his position.
"It’s okay if you don’t want to—" Callum quickly took her hands as she began to retrieve it.
"I’m sorry, Mrs Fay. I was just caught off guard for a few seconds. I’m honoured to shake you," he said, redeeming himself.
She smiled as she took her hands away. "It’s no problem. At least you’re being honest. Anyway, can I talk to you now, Cam?"
"Sure Mrs Fay."
She waved Callum, and followed Cam a few steps away from where they had just been standing.
"I hope you’re fine, seeing you’re home?" She asked when it occurred to her that he was actually home instead of the office with Ace.
Except Ace did not go to the office, which was going to be nerve wracking for sure. She didn’t want to have a reason to be in his presence.
"Sir Landon picked up Sir Ace today. He said I could have the day off."
"Oh," she said, biting her lips.
"Do you need to go somewhere?" He asked when he saw her reaction to his response.
She looked like the light in her eyes had been blown away. Even at that, she still managed to look ethereal.
He sometimes wondered how his boss managed to not lose control. He knew that their marriage was just a facade, but if he was married to a girl like her, real or not, he would have tried to seduce her already.
She was too perfect to be ignored. Way too perfect.
He snapped out of his thought when she opened her mouth to respond. If his boss knew he was thinking about his wife this way, he would cut off his tongue.
"I actually wanted to go to the fragrance store you and Marilyn took me to sometime ago. Do you think you could take me there? I know it’s your day off, but I really wou—"
"You don’t have to explain, Mrs Fay. You’re the boss. If you want to go somewhere, it’s my duty to take you there," he said to her surprise..
Her eyes glowed again. Smiling brightly, she moved to hug him but caught herself just in time.
"Thank you!" She hopped instead.
He laughed at her childish excitement. Once more, he wondered how his boss was able to control himself around her.
He knew it wasn’t an easy thing to do. A girl like that would have men at war, just for her heart.
At the end of the day, he was curious to see what would become of the both of them in the future.
In his head, he had a feeling theirs was going to be a love story that would be foundational and explosive.
"Would you prefer to take this car?" He pointed at the black rover.
"Isn’t it a little too fancy? I don’t want us to draw any attention," she said shyly.
Callum watching from behind couldn’t stop smiling. Not only was she beautiful, she was also cute, and down to earth.
He couldn’t thank God enough that whatever relationship his boss had with his ex was over. Now that was a woman that could drive anyone into the worst kind of psychosis.
"Let’s take this then." He opened the Lexus, and she hopped in.
"Thank you, Cam," she said as he shut the door behind her.
"Anytime, Mrs Fay. Hey Callum, if you’re unable to finish with the garden before I return, that’s fine. I think Marilyn said she would be joining you."
"Don’t worry about it. Just take care of the boss’s wife. Anything happens to her, you’re dead meat."
"Shut up!" Cam laughed as he entered the driver’s seat.
Frank, who had come out due to all the noise, quickly opened the gate.
For the second time that day, his sleep had been interrupted. There were about three gate guys in the house. He wondered why it looked like he was being sent to the gate the most, recently.
But when the car drove by, and he saw Fay behind, he couldn’t help his smile.
For her, he didn’t mind opening a thousand gates.
His heart almost burst out of his chest when she waved at him.
"Bye Mrs Fay!" He screamed at the top of his lungs.
Fay giggled at his response. "He’s so wholesome," she muttered under her breath.
"Would you prefer the normal window, or the tinted one, Mrs Fay?" Cam asked.
"The normal one, please. I would love to see what’s going on around me."
As she spoke, she turned her head to the windows.
Maybe she hadn’t thought a lot about it before, but to have a whole street to your name had to be a big sign of wealth.
They made it into the highway, and her wandering mind continued in its thoughts.
She watched the pedestrians move, and remembered she used to be in that same position.
She never dreamed she would be in a position where she would be asked the car she wanted to drive out.
That kind of dream was never a luxury her upbringing allowed.
Crazy how things could swiftly change. In a twinkle of an eye, you go from serving in a restaurant, to being served.
"Quite a journey," she mumbled.
They drove past that finger food restaurant she loved so much, and her thoughts split into two.
First was Alexander. She wondered how he was doing. Wherever he was, she hoped he was fine. After all, they were going through similar things in a way.
He liked her, while she liked someone else. But without the romantic aspect, she adored Alexander. He was a breath of fresh air.
That thought was quickly overshadowed by the thought of Ace. He had bought her food from there, according to Alice.
She wondered what had happened to that food, seeing that she never ate it. And if Ace found out, she was curious to know if he felt bad she rejected his food.
Her thoughts were about to take a risky direction when she suddenly heard a screech, and the car came to a stop.
"Oh shit!" Cam said, and she looked up to see they had turned into a less busy road.
A less busy road with a car which had also stopped in front of them. She didn’t need to be spoon fed information to know what had just happened. And when it clicked, her heart sank.
