THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 130: PURSUIT OF CASH

Chapter 130: PURSUIT OF CASH

Fay sat in her dressing chair, staring at her reflection in the mirror.

It had been one whole week of peace, and silence.

One week where she hadn’t stumbled on Ace, or had to deal with her feelings for him.

This one week had given her a much needed clarity.

The results were out, and its intensity was staggering.

She was weak. It was the one word that encompassed the reason for all her problems.

She was too weak to defend herself against the people that hurt her, and even her own feelings.

However, the matriarch had promised to change all of that. She called every day of the one week, giving her materials upon materials to read on, and broaden her knowledge.

Right now, she felt illuminated. The things she had learnt so far in her journey of switching her entire personality were profound.

As she stared at her reflection, she no longer flinched in disgust.

Her hand touched her hair, and she actually smiled. It was many women’s dream lengths and thickness.

She had a head full of hair, and it was gloriously red. Who said being called the devil’s flames had to be a bad thing? Her hair was incredible and that was all that mattered to her.

From her hair, she touched her cheeks. The freckles were amazing. She had stumbled on a digital filter that gave people freckles. She naturally had it. And the most wonderful part was, it came for free.

She also had dimples. Beautiful green eyes. Skinny, but with legs that could pass for a models. Flat tummy, and small breasts.

All contradicting features, but nonetheless, beautiful.

She smiled. So much progress in one week. She knew if she continued on this path, in three months, her confidence would be through the roof.

All it took was avoiding the one man that made her confused in the head, and the heart.

Blinking multiple times, she shook her head. It was important not to think of him even fleetingly, else, she would destroy the progress she had managed so far.

Packing her hair into a ponytail, she rolled it’s end and clipped it with the butterfly clip Marilyn had gifted her.

She rose to her feet, and did a quick outfit check.

Learning to be more comfortable in her skin, she had opted for a short flared halter neck gown.

Her phone rang just as she dabbed some fragrance on her body.

Skipping to the bed, she bent, and picked up the buzzing phone.

"Hello," she answered with a bright smile on her face.

"Hello, Fay," Gabrielle at the other end of the line called.

"Good morning ma’am. How are you doing?" She asked, bursting with excitement.

It was always such a pleasure to hear from Ace’s mother. Who said she couldn’t be ecstatic about the mother, just because she wasn’t in contact with the son?

"I’m fine, Fay. You sound bright, and cheerful. I’m glad to hear you’re doing good," she said.

"I’m doing the best I can," Fay replied.

"Good to know, darling. Anyway, I called in respect of Sophie. She suddenly told me sometime last week that tomorrow

Saturday is supposed to be her birthday. I was touched, because it shows the progress she’s making. I was hoping to make it a special day for her. Do you think you can come around?" She questioned.

"Totally! I can’t believe Sophie is going to be having a birthday party. I have to go find the perfect gift for her!" She bounced from toe to toe, unable to keep the excitement off her voice.

"She’s going to be so excited to see you. Thank you so much, Fay."

"No need to thank me. I adore Sophie too much to say no."

Gabrielle let out a short affectionate laugh. "I can’t wait to see you. Enjoy the rest of your day, beautiful."

As soon as the call ended, Fay’s mind went up in riot. She suddenly had a lot to do to ensure that Sophie’s birthday was special.

Most important on that list was getting the perfect gift for her. Something she would love and cherish for a long time.

Her first thought was a fragrance. But Sophie was a child. Would she really be able to appreciate a perfume?

She could, if she found a way to bottle an experience. Something that every time she sniffed, she found excitement..

To do that, she had to find it directly from the source, without giving her plans out.

But before all of that, she needed money to buy another gift. There was never a thing like giving too many gifts.

She had vowed not to use the card Ace gave her until he started paying her the money he promised her.

The only way she could get money without resorting to begging, was to monetize the one gift she had. The gift she told herself she would never monetize.

A sigh escaped her lips as she walked towards her drawers. Pulling one open, she checked the stash she had made out of boredom. Thankful to have gotten a lot of supplies the one time she had been taken to that fragrance store.

There were at least three made well enough to be sold. The bottling was also nice. All she needed was a customer.

She had worked a lot to know that quality skills were needed to be able to market a product.

A bright idea sparked in her head, and her eyes lit up. Going to the mirror, she checked her outfit again. She looked fine.

Grabbing a purse bag, she tossed her phone inside, and on second thought, grabbed the card just in case her impulsive plan didn’t materialise.

Throwing the bottles into a big fancy bag, and then adding little fancy bags just in case she managed to sell some, she switched from her slides to platform slippers, and hurried out of the room.

She made it down the stairs at the same time Marilyn also came into the living room.

"Marilyn!"

"Mrs Fay?"

They both said at the same time.

"Good morning, Mrs Fay. You look like you’re in a hurry? Is everything fine?" She asked, giving her a once over.

Her beauty was an initial distraction, but moving past that was the worry in her eyes.

"Marilyn, we need to go!"

"Go where?" She asked with a puzzled expression.

"To go sell some perfumes."

"You want to sell your perfumes?" Marilyn asked, a little taken aback.

She knew how strongly the lady felt about monetizing her craft. If she suddenly wanted to sell, then there was something important behind that decision. Something she needed to know before she made any rash decisions.

"I know, but it doesn’t matter. I need to buy a gift for Sophie’s birthday."

"Oh–" she nodded in understanding, but quickly frowned after. "Please don’t tell me yourself still on about not using Sir Ace’s card? Common, Fay. Who cares if—" she looked around, then lowered her voice. "Who cares if it’s not real? He gave you that card for a purpose. Use it, instead of trying to sell something."

"Ha! Nice try, Marilyn. But unfortunately, it is not happening. I’m not going to be using Ace’s card for anything." She jut a stubborn chin as her lips thinned.

"I never knew you were this stubborn. Where have you been hiding this side of you?" Marilyn shook her head.

"Are you going to come with me or not?" Fay asked, ignoring her observations.

She wasn’t in the mood to be tricked into giving up on one more of her numerous vows.

Both Marilyn and Alice still had hopes they would resolve whatever issues they had, and in the long run, the authenticity of their marriage wouldn’t be something to worry about.

She thought otherwise. In her head, she would always like Ace, but he would never reciprocate. She would do what the matriarch says, and try to seduce him when the time comes. It wouldn’t work, but at that point, it won’t even matter.

She would have gotten enough power and substance to stand on her own, without the cancer which was her feelings for Ace Atticus.

"I wish I could, darling. This has nothing to do with you, or sir Ace. Unfortunately, I have to ensure the house is in order. I have the garden to fix in time for bloom. There’s just a lot to do, my love."

"Fair enough. I could just go with Alice then. Where’s she?"

"You missed her. She’s the official caterer for Sophie’s birthday. Ma’am Gabrielle asked her to come around so preparations could begin. I was supposed to go, but who is going to take care of the house if I do?"

Fay rolled her eyes, but an affectionate smile quickly followed. "Marilyn, there are a thousand staff always walking around. I don’t even know half of them. I’m sure they can do everything you’ve taught them to do."

"Honey, you see how you won’t compromise about the card thing?"

Fay nodded, wondering what one had to do with the other.

"It’s the same way I would need you to butt out of my work. No one can do it like I do. Oh and also, we’re not a thousand staff. We’re just twenty."

Fay chuckled. "My bad. I’ll just see you later then."

"Mrs Fay —" before she could make a third suggestion, Fay had already run past the door.

She sighed, as her shoulders slouched, and said a little prayer for Fay not to get into trouble again. Because it seemed like every time she stepped out, something drastic happened.
