THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 110: INHIBITED WHISPERS
Chapter 110: INHIBITED WHISPERS
"What are you doing?" She asked, confused by the affection he was showing.
"I’m curious," he said, his nose stuck in the middle of her scalp. "Is that why you asked Cam to get you some chicken?"
Cam? She scrunched her face, as her thoughts spiraled.
She couldn’t remember asking Cam to get her anything. Once more, she discreetly sniffed into the air, but couldn’t perceive even the faintest hint of alcohol. He obviously wasn’t drunk. Just sleep deprived.
"What are you talking about?" She asked in a cautious tone.
"Don’t pretend, Fay. I saw Marilyn holding the chicken and ice cream you asked Cam to buy. He used his money too. Why didn’t you just ask me if that’s what you were craving? Why did you send me some through Alice? Were you trying to communicate something to me, Fay? I don’t understand anything, anymore," he said, playing with the small of her back..
His hands on her was a heavy distraction. The good kind though. With every subtle stroke, she felt the split ends of her nerves being electrified.
It was difficult trying to understand what he was talking about, when her traitorous body was already responding to his touch. But for her sake, and the sake of the woman she had put her trust in, she had to figure it out.
She went back to the basics. Cam, chicken, and chips. He thought Cam bought those things for her with his money, because she asked him to.
The idea had to have come from Marilyn. She was the one holding the bag after all.
He saw her, and she had to come up with a quick explanation. She understood that, and even thanked her for being that quick with the response.
The latter was definitely Alice. Both women still didn’t know the truth about their marriage.
Alice, seeing that they were not exactly around each other that often, thought to intervene. Hence, telling him she sent some piece of chicken.
"Well-done for piecing it together, Fay," she heard one of the voices in her head say. It was the one she mostly could stand, so she didn’t expel it immediately.
"Fay," he called in a dizzying voice. *Answer me."
He was closer to falling asleep than he was awake, but there was a part of her that didn’t want him going to sleep before she cleared the air.
To do that, she had to come up with a lie whilst continuing the streak of lies the other women had told him already.
"So many lies," she thought grimly.
She wasn’t used to lying this much, but for everyone’s sake, she had to put on her big girl pants, and do what she had to do.
"I took some money from the money I spent at the ice cream shop the other day, for myself. From that money, I asked Cam to buy the chicken and ice cream for me. I would never ask him to use his money. And I sent you some because I was told you’re not eating properly." She didn’t know if there was any truth to the last thing she had just said. She just went with the flow and hoped for the best.
"I’m relieved," he said, his slurry voice giddy with excitement.
"You are? Why?"
"I thought I would have to have a talk with my driver. He shouldn’t be buying things for my wife when I’m around." He resumed stroking her back.
She let out a relaxing sigh, as her head moved slightly behind. That action made him lift up his own head, and slowly turned her from her neck, to face him.
"I have to return to Leighton. You should get some sleep."
"Sleep here tonight?" He offered, to her amazement.
"I can’t. You know I can’t. You’re only asking because you’re partly asleep and partly awake. You’ll forget everything you’ve said at dawn."
"I thought it was you," he suddenly said, as his lashes dropped, and his free hand joined his other hand on her back.
"Me? I don’t understand."
"At the lake house. I thought it was you on the bed. That’s as much as I can remember."
"And if it was me?" Her brows furrowed, still confused, but definitely more curious now.
"I wouldn’t have minded whatever happened that night. Don’t you understand, Fay?"
"No, I don’t." Her heart rate surged as she waited to hear what he had to say to that.
"I can’t explain it if you don’t understand. God, you smell so good! I want to bottle your scent and press it against my nose for eternity."
"Eternity is a long time."
"With you, it would be nirvana."
"Go to sleep, Ace," she said, and tried to stand up.
"No, not yet." He pulled her back, and pouted.
She was forced to look into his face. Still the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Her breath caught against her chest as she stared at him.
Everything he had said made her confused. There were a lot of questions she needed answered, but for now, nothing made her feel better than staring at him.
The most beautiful thing she had ever laid her eyes on.
"What?" He asked when his dimming eyes caught her staring.
"You’re a difficult man," she said.
"I know. Teach me to be less difficult?"
"Maybe tomorrow? You need rest if you’re going to go to work tomorrow."
*If you want me to stay, I will." He shrugged.
"Ace, please stop it."
"Stop what?" He lifted a lazy brow.
"Acting this way. It’s strange and scary. You don’t care about me. Why are you suddenly acting like you do?"
"Because I kissed you once, and your taste was branded in my brain. Because I perceived you, and every other scent now pales in comparison. It’s kinda your fault."
"My fault?" She snickered. "You’re being weird."
He chuckled, and it came out like a deep rumble.
Her core squeezed tightly, and she felt momentarily feral.
"I have to go, Ace." She sensed the danger of the situation, and was ready to run away.
Her body didn’t understand that it wasn’t supposed to crave what it craved.
It just did whatever it liked, despite her heavy reservations.
"Fine. But kiss me first."
Her heart skipped a beat. Not because of what he had just requested for, but because of the jolt of euphoric joy that just sizzled all over her body.
The fact that she was considering doing it scared her to death.
She was supposed to be seducing him. It wasn’t supposed to be the other way around.
"We shouldn’t–" she said breathlessly.
"Why? Are you afraid you won’t be able to stop?"
Despite his state, he still managed to be cocky. Surprisingly, she didn’t feel offended. Her body enjoyed it.
Enjoyed the way his voice sounded like the sea waves. The rippling effect it caused on her. How he held her back, caressing it gently.
The way he looked at her. With droopy eyes, that were dim, but also simultaneously intense.
She had never seen him this way before. Nonchalant Ace was super attractive, and that was why despite the warning bells in her head, she still fell for him.
But this Ace– this attentive Ace was about to put her in the kind of trouble no one could possibly escape from.
Little wonder Reign couldn’t get enough of him. Who would?
"You’re not in the right state of mind. It would be taking advantage of you. I wouldn’t want that done to me, so I definitely won’t do that to you." She forced herself out of his grip, and jumped to her feet.
With how easy it was to escape his hold, she finally admitted she had been enjoying his touch a little too much to try before.
"You’re really going to leave?" He asked.
She was torn, and almost made a run for him, in readiness to surrender every part of her body to his touch.
However, even before she could respond, his head swayed back, and landed on the pillows.
"See, you were really sleepy." She shook her head, and walked over to the foot of his bed.
Grabbing his legs, she pulled them off his slides, and placed them properly on the bed.
She walked back to the head of the bed, and stared at his innocent face, deep in the arms of sleep.
"Your grandmother wants me to seduce you. How do I tell her or the stubborn voice in my head that thinks I can succeed without losing my head, that you’re the one in the best position to seduce me. I wish you weren’t as pretty."
She sighed, and bent her body forward. She placed a soft kiss on his forehead, making him stir in his sleep.
Quickly rising up so as not to disturb his rest, she turned around and walked out of the room. Knowing in her heart that she would spend the rest of the night tossing and turning on her bed, whilst thinking of all the sweet things he had said to her.
