THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 111: A SUDDEN KISS
Chapter 111: A SUDDEN KISS
Ace opened his eyes and the first thing he perceived was Fay. He jerked up into a sitting position, and began turning his head in search of her. When he didn’t see her, he sighed in defeat.
"Was that just a dream?" He questioned himself.
But if it were a dream, why can I perceive her fragrance? He kept the questions going as his eyes continued to dance around the room.
It took him about ten minutes of sitting quietly to finally be fully awake.
He stretched and yawned. Sliding out of bed, he pushed his legs into his slides.
As he took a step towards his bathroom, he paused, his head rolling behind.
"From my home office to my room. How?" He quizzed himself.
The last thing he could remember was walking out of his office with just one goal in mind; sleep.
How he had managed to do that in one piece, judging from the lack of pain or sting on his body was a mystery.
To top it off, there was that weird dream he had, where Fay was in his room and he was saying all kinds of awkward stuff.
"Thank God it was all a dream," he muttered, making his way to the bathroom.
He stripped off his clothes, and turned on the shower. As he started to wash off, his mind couldn’t help but drift towards the ordeals of the previous day.
"I gave Cam the money he used to buy me the chicken and ice cream."
He paused scrubbing on hearing Fay’s voice loudly in his ear.
It had been a dream, but why did it sound so realistic?
Maybe it was just his mind trying to satiate him after everything he found out the previous day. But it sounded more real than a dream.
He kept on washing, but his mind was not on the present action.
Rinsing off, he grabbed his towel and walked out of the bathroom.
He was headed for his closet when his phone rang.
His feet diverted towards the bedside table, and he grabbed the device sitting on it.
"Landon," he said as he answered.
"Do you have any idea what the time is?"
"No, why?" He asked.
"Have you forgotten you’re supposed to be at the hotel to receive the president of Blue ice holdings from Australia? I’ve been your line for an hour, but it only just went through."
"Oh shit!" He pulled the phone off his ears, and checked the time.
"9:30!" He roared.
"You have thirty minutes to get here before aunt Celine takes your place. You know she’s expecting you to be late."
"Wait a second. She wasn’t supposed to come in today. How is she here?" He asked when he remembered he had planned her arrival for tomorrow, Friday.
"She had important business with the government, and decided to arrive a day ahead so we could discuss business with her first."
"Landon, I’ve not gotten her the gift we were supposed to. Remember I asked Grant to let me do it?"
"Well, you shouldn’t have. You were supposed to find her something unique. Just the way she likes them."
He placed the phone on loudspeaker, and hurried over to his closet
"What did you discover she likes best?"
"Fragrances. She’s a collector of perfumes."
"How the fuck am I supposed to get a unique fragrance for her on such short notice?"
"If you had allowed us to do this last week, we wouldn’t be running around today. I don’t know, Ace. But best believe Celine has something up her sleeve."
"That’s why the bitch spent the entire week trying to keep me occupied with clearing my name. I hate to admit this, but she’s smart." He pulled out his suit, and tie, and dragged them along, as he walked to the dresser.
"I managed to buy her some unique wine, but that’s not as important as the fragrance."
"Okay, I’ll try my best to come up with something good. See you at ten." He ended the call, and began dressing up.
As he did, he cracked his brain for the solution to their dilemma. Christine Angus was their biggest hope when it came to pushing spades in Australia. If Celine succeeded in getting her to sign an agreement before he could, the consequences would be dire.
He brushed his hair, sprayed some cologne, and turned to grab his briefcase.
He paused when he remembered he had left it in the home office. Grabbing his phone instead, he hurried out of his room.
At the same time, Fay and Leighton came out of her room.
"I can’t believe you still make perfumes. Are you going to make me one?" Leighton’s words drifted into Ace’s ears, and with a start, he came to an abrupt stop.
He turned around, and walked straight to Fay who was too busy telling Leighton about the fragrance she planned to make later in the day.
She jumped in fear when she felt sturdy hands on her shoulders, and a body blocking her path.
"Ace?" She called when she lifted her head, and met his eyes.
"I need your help," he said, as Leighton moved to the side to give the couple some space.
"My help? What could you possibly need my help for?"
"To make a bottle of perfume for a client. It’s urgent. I’m supposed to meet up with her by ten, but my guts tells me she won’t be in the country until about two. Do you think it’s enough time to make one? The company will pay you for your services, of course."
She wanted to reject him. She didn’t just make fragrances for anyone. It had to be meticulously planned.
But something about the desperation in his eyes, and his voice, made her rethink her decision.
"I—"
"She’ll do it!" Leighton suddenly jumped in.
"I will?" She turned to her friend in confusion.
"Of course you will. Look, I know you don’t want to monetize your abilities, but this is the perfect opportunity to do some good whilst making some money. No one has to know it’s from you either, if you want anonymity. She’ll do it!" She turned to Ace.
"If you can’t, or don’t want to, tell me. I don’t want you doing what you don’t feel right about doing."
From his intense gaze, to the softness of his tone, and the need in his voice, she just couldn’t say no to him.
"I’ll do it. But I have to know the personality of this person. It’ll help me arrange the notes of the fragrance," she said.
"Oh thank you, Fay!" He said with glee, and without thinking twice, bent her head to the side, and kissed her.
Leighton blushed, and threw her face away, giving them some privacy as they kissed.
She thought there was no room for romance in their relationship, seeing how they both slept in different rooms.
But she had seen Fay sneak into the room last night, smelling heavily of his perfume.
And now, they were still kissing. She felt giddy with excitement that her friend had not only found love, but with a man as hot and successful as Ace Atticus was.
He finally pulled away, and turned around, leaving Fay breathing hard.
"I’ll send the details of our guest to you through either Marilyn, Alice, or Cam," he said behind his shoulders as he hurried ahead.
"Or you could just text it to her!" Leighton screamed on behalf of her friend who was still too breathless to speak.
"Great idea!" He said, almost walking down the stairs before remembering he still needed his briefcase.
"Fay?" Leighton snapped her fingers across her face.
"What just happened?" She said, her eyes blinking.
"Don’t be silly. Acting like you don’t kiss your husband all the time. Common, let’s go and prepare for the day. I have to return to the hospital later tonight, but I plan on watching you create magic."
"Okay," she said, still not trusting herself enough to be able to move.
He had completely caught her off guard with that kiss.
Her breath was yet to settle, and she didn’t want it to just yet. She wanted to relish that kiss, because there was no telling when it would happen again.
"Common, let’s go!" Leighton dragged her along with her.
Shortly after they went down, Ace came out with his briefcase.
He was already seated in his car, after giving Cam strict instructions to drive like they were escaping a disaster, when what he had done hit him hard.
"You kissed her!" A voice in his head screamed.
He had done that. In front of her friend too. It wasn’t planned. All he remembered was feeling so relieved she had opted to help him, and wanting nothing more than to kiss her.
"Just like you had wanted to do last night." Another thought formed in his head.
He squinted, trying to recollect the exact moment he had tried to kiss her.
"Oh no," he muttered, when it suddenly occurred to him.
It had not been a dream.
