Chapter 124: Not a Prostitute
Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Not a Prostitute
The head nurse was taken aback.
Ivy River nodded, opened the sandwich directly, and started eating it in front of everyone.
"Yeah, I have two kids, one boy and one girl. My son is like the laborer of our family. He follows me and my daughter around cleaning up and even makes breakfast for us."
When she said this, she was radiating happiness.
The head nurse kept marveling, "I couldn’t tell, really couldn’t tell. Your figure doesn’t look like someone who’s had kids."
"Alright, stop flattering me. Half of this is for you, and the milk too."
Ivy River tossed the bag to the head nurse.
The head nurse took out the milk and was immediately shocked, "Oh my God, Director River, this milk is still warm!"
"Yeah, shouldn’t breakfast be eaten warm?"
Ivy River unintentionally boasted again.
The young nurses present were all getting envious.
Isabella Yeaton was no exception, "Director River, stop showing off. If you keep talking, none of us will work today; we need something sweet to counter all the bitterness."
With her mouth full of sandwich, the head nurse mumbled, "It’s really delicious. What’s inside this sandwich? Can you share? I’d like to make it for my son."
Ivy River innocently shrugged, "I don’t know. I’ll check when I get home and let you know."
"Delicious, delicious. Your son’s cooking skills are really good. How old is he?"
"Four years old."
Ivy River’s offhand remark stunned everyone once more.
"Director River, what did you say? Your son is only four?"
"Oh my God, a four-year-old being able to do all this makes my eight-year-old son seem useless!"
"Unbelievable! If I have a son in the future, I must train him to be like Director River’s son."
Everyone chattered away.
Ivy River leaned against the nurses’ station, listening to all the praise.
The head nurse was so astonished that the first thing she did once she regained her senses was call her husband.
"Old Howard, what kind of genes do you have! Our director’s son can make breakfast and do chores at four! What can your 13-year-old son do now? Just eat, drink, and call for mom whenever there’s trouble..."
Ivy River found it annoying and gestured to Isabella Yeaton before returning to her office.
"Director River, is there something you needed?"
"Evelyn King hasn’t come yet?"
Isabella Yeaton replied, "I haven’t seen Director King yet."
Ivy River smacked her lips, "When did the role model start being late? I thought I was the only one in Traditional Medicine Department who was late and left early."
"Director King worked late last night, so she might be coming in late today."
"Let me know when she arrives," Ivy River said, pausing for a moment, "Hasn’t Lewis Chadwick issued the notice yet?"
Isabella Yeaton was confused, "What notice?"
"This unreliable guy, you can leave now."
Ivy River immediately called Lewis Chadwick, "Lewis Chadwick, where did you send the notice I asked you to send last night!"
Lewis Chadwick, still not fully awake, mumbled, "What notice?"
Ivy River coldly reprimanded, "Think about it clearly. Three minutes to reflect, then hurry and notify the HR department."
Her voice was incredibly penetrating.
Next to Lewis Chadwick, Alexander Hodges slightly opened his eyes and mouthed to him, "Is it my sister-in-law?"
Lewis Chadwick nodded, "Ivy River, what were you talking about? I can’t quite remember."
"Director Chadwick, it’s work hours. You should know."
Ivy River hung up abruptly after speaking.
Lewis Chadwick was baffled, "No, clarify..."
Alexander Hodges heard the disconnect tone and couldn’t help but laugh, "It’s hilarious! My sister-in-law’s temper has been a bit fiery lately. What did you promise her?"
"Reversed! I’m supposedly the boss here, how dare she talk to a superior like that!"
Lewis Chadwick was now fully awake.
Alexander Hodges laughed, "Don’t mention you. Even my brother has to act meek around her now."
"What does that have to do with me! Giving me just three minutes to reflect, who was that supposed to scare!"
Alexander Hodges wasn’t upset, "Don’t worry, since Ivy River is working over there. If something happens, rest assured, my brother will come looking for you."
Lewis Chadwick slowly regained his composure, "Shut up, let me think about what Ivy River said just now."
"One minute left, hurry up, my sister-in-law is very punctual."
"Stop rushing, stop rushing. I remember now."
Lewis Chadwick slapped his forehead, "I’m screwed, I’m screwed."
Alexander Hodges stopped speaking.
He just watched him make a hurried phone call and give instructions.
Everything became clear.
"Did you promise my sister-in-law to promote a young nurse?"
Lewis Chadwick responded in annoyance, "Yes, and she specifically requested it. What if she really stops after three months? What will happen to this young head nurse? Did she even think about that?"
Alexander Hodges said, "It’s fine. Just take good care of her while she’s around."
"Nonsense, you’re irritating enough on your own, and now there’s Ivy River too. Do you know how annoyed I am? I’m a person, not a tool."
Lewis Chadwick complained, "You call me to drink with you, and I have to accompany you. If you want me to chat with you, I have to chat. What! Am I an escort?"
"Yesterday was my mistake, but you can’t go back and tell my sister-in-law that it was my fault that you forgot."
"You’re truly shameless, truly thick-skinned, Alexander Hodges!"
Alexander Hodges grinned, "Haha, well said. Escort, hurry up and get to the hospital, wasn’t there supposed to be something big happening today?"
Lewis Chadwick couldn’t help but give him a kick, "If it wasn’t for you insisting on having Ivy River come to the hospital, I wouldn’t be this busy. You’re really here to punish me."
"Help, Heaven, why don’t you just take this scourge Alexander Hodges away, I really can’t bear it anymore."
Alexander Hodges protested, "I’m the last in my family. If our elder finds out, he’ll flatten the hospital!"
"Doesn’t matter, your family holds shares in the hospital too. I’m at most a worker. Flattening it would be fine. That way, nobody would need to work. Do I look like someone who loves working?"
Lewis Chadwick put on his clothes, finished washing up, and left.
Before leaving, he instructed, "Alexander Hodges, remember to settle the bill. Don’t put last night’s drinks under my name. Have some decency!"
Alexander Hodges smiled without saying a word.
After thinking for a bit, he made a phone call.
After hanging up, he wore a wicked smile.
...
Isabella Yeaton was at the nurses’ station matching patient files when she received a call from the HR department.
After the call, she stood in a daze.
Three minutes later.
The nurses’ station erupted, and everyone started talking all at once.
"Isabella Yeaton, Isabella Yeaton! Check the announcement quickly, hurry."
