Chapter 74: Chapter 074: Giving Birth to a Son for Another Man
Sienna Johnson, hiding upstairs, felt a jolt through her body and mind when she heard those words.
Maxwell Bradford said they were enemies. If he shot Adrian Desmond, wouldn’t Adrian be dead?
Sienna hated his hypocrisy. She hated that he insisted on marrying Melanie Carpenter even though she was already his, but she had never wanted Adrian Desmond to die.
No! Absolutely not!
Ignoring the danger of being exposed, Sienna looked fiercely at Adrian Desmond.
Adrian Desmond didn’t answer immediately. His left index finger tapped lightly on his crossed legs. Despite his pursed lips, the sexy, sculpted contours of his face were evident. He had short, neat black hair, and the crystal chandelier above illuminated his tan skin. His nose was prominent, his sharp eyebrows partly hidden by his hair. His gaze traveled past the sparkling chandelier and locked with Sienna’s.
Don’t!
She shook her head slightly, her eyes imploring him not to agree to Maxwell Bradford’s unreasonable demands.
As they gazed at each other across the room, Adrian Desmond suddenly smiled at her.
"Alright!" Adrian Desmond agreed.
"No!" Sienna stood up abruptly, screaming for him to stop. "Adrian Desmond, are you crazy? You’ll die!"
Maxwell Bradford turned his head to see the tearful woman standing upstairs and chuckled. "What a splendid melodrama." He applauded.
Sienna ran downstairs but was intercepted halfway by the bodyguards. Adrian Desmond stood up, his voice and expression stern. "Let her go! Don’t hurt her!"
Maxwell Bradford’s eyes scanned Sienna maliciously, his gaze lingering on her face. He drawled, "Indeed a beauty. No wonder even Sixth Master has fallen for her..."
One of Maxwell Bradford’s bodyguards brought a golden pistol and handed it to him. Sienna glanced at Adrian Desmond. Adrian, with Walter Klein and Tatu, had entered Maxwell Bradford’s territory and was now surrounded by Maxwell’s men, several guns pointed at him. Didn’t he know he could actually die?
"Maxwell Bradford! As agreed, you shoot me once, I’ll return your son, and you’ll let my woman and me go!" Adrian Desmond’s voice was steady, as if he weren’t the one about to be shot.
"No!" Sienna cried out, trying to stop him.
Adrian and Maxwell discussed the terms, completely disregarding Sienna’s opinion. As Maxwell raised the gun, its dark muzzle aimed at Adrian, Sienna struggled desperately.
"Adrian, I don’t love you! I don’t want to be with you... You already have your fiancée; I’m redundant. I won’t go; I want to stay here..." In her panic, Sienna tried to provoke Adrian into stopping.
Maxwell Bradford found Sienna extremely interesting. Still aiming the gun at Adrian, he turned his head towards her. "This woman of yours has quite a flair..." After a brief pause, he continued, "Are you really willing to stay here and be my woman?"
"Yes!" Sienna answered without hesitation.
Adrian Desmond’s calm expression shattered. "Mai, shut up! This is a contest between men! It has nothing to do with you women. Stay put!"
Maxwell Bradford lowered the gun, clearly intrigued by Sienna’s proposal. "Mai, do you really want to stay and be my woman?"
Adrian Desmond wanted to kill the nonsense-spouting woman. He said to Maxwell Bradford, "Maxwell Bradford, think about your only son! Haven’t you been looking for him all these years? Now, you’ll soon be reunited..."
Sienna cut in, "You have no son; I can give you one!"
Adrian Desmond felt a suffocating tightness in his throat, as if he were choking on blood. His eyes reddened. The damnable woman was actually going to bear Maxwell Bradford a son! Grinding his teeth, he said, "Mai, I really want to strangle you right now!"
"You should leave and live a good life with your fiancée. I never want to see you again!" Sienna lowered her eyes and whispered.
"You’re carrying my child, and you want to follow Maxwell Bradford?" Adrian roared.
"I can get rid of it, can’t I?" Sienna lied.
Adrian lunged forward, and the guns aimed at him moved in unison. Walter Klein and Tatu hurriedly stopped him, advising, "Sixth Master, calm down. This is not the time to be impulsive."
"Mai, if you dare harm my son, I’ll never be done with you in this lifetime!"
Adrian Desmond glared at Sienna incredulously. How dare this woman threaten his child?
"Adrian, you’re such a hypocrite! You claim to like me, but even while saying you like me, you still insist on marrying Miss Carpenter... Adrian, touch your chest and ask yourself, do you really like me?" She gritted her teeth, raised her chin slightly, and swallowed the unshed tears.
"Mai, I’ve done so much for you, and you dare ask me that?" Adrian felt his devotion had been utterly wasted. He deeply regretted falling in love with this woman.
"...Adrian, I don’t want those jewels; I just want your undivided love. If you can’t give me that, then stop pretending to love me. Do you know, when you say those words, I feel disgusted by your hypocrisy!"
Upon hearing these words, Adrian felt not only a raw ache as if a hole had been gouged in his heart, but also a surge of fury that blazed in his eyes. His right hand shot out, pointing straight at Sienna. If he’d had a gun at that moment, Adrian had no doubt he would have shot her.
He was speechless with rage for a moment before Sienna spoke again.
"Adrian, I told you, I won’t share a man with another woman! Since you insist on marrying Miss Carpenter, we should part ways amicably! Get out of here; I don’t want to see you again!"
Sienna no longer spoke to Adrian but turned to Maxwell Bradford. "Let him go. I’m willing to stay here. I never, ever want to see this hypocritical man again!"
Maxwell Bradford stroked his small chin beard, his eyes twinkling. "...Really willing?"
"Yes!" Sienna said firmly.
"Willing to give me a son?"
"Yes!"
"Mai! If you dare say one more word, I swear I’ll kill you now!" Adrian roared at Sienna. If Walter Klein and Tatu hadn’t been struggling desperately to restrain him, Adrian would have dealt with her right then and there.
Walter Klein, doing his utmost to restrain the raging Adrian, whispered, "Sixth Master, calm down. Madam is not speaking from the heart; she’s just saying things in anger.
"Haven’t you noticed? Madam is trying to save your life! She doesn’t want Maxwell Bradford to shoot you. Think about it: you and Maxwell Bradford are already enemies. If he actually shot you, would you survive?"
Adrian was silent, the words sinking in.
"Sixth Master, if Madam really doesn’t care about you, why would she go to all this trouble?" Walter Klein advised earnestly. "Why not just let Maxwell Bradford shoot you dead and be done with it?"
