Chapter 73: Chapter 073: Personally Came to Save Her

This room seemed only slightly excessively luxurious and otherwise unremarkable. However, the lewd scene unfolding on the large bed was something Sienna Johnson couldn’t bear to look at.

What a terrible prenatal influence this is!

"Mai, look at me."

The man "exercising" on the bed had a chest covered in dark, coarse hair, a sight that disgusted Sienna. This seemingly unevolved man was busy with a woman, all the while leering at Sienna.

"Do you know me?" Mai shifted her gaze to the bedpost, determined not to look at the X-rated scene.

"Of course!"

"Then can you tell me why you brought me here?"

Despite venturing out in the middle of the night, Sienna wasn’t concerned about her safety or facing a horrifying experience like the one where she was kidnapped by Charlie Parker. As soon as she left, the bodyguards Adrian Desmond had assigned her immediately followed.

However, her understanding was utterly subverted after encountering a shootout scene that seemed like a Hollywood blockbuster.

What kind of world was this? What kind of people were these? Didn’t the police even care?

"Because you’re so captivating."

Maxwell Bradford pushed the woman beside him away and walked stark-naked towards Sienna. Sienna felt like throwing up again.

Who on earth were these people? Every one of them was challenging her understanding and endurance.

"I belong to Adrian Desmond!" Sienna invoked the shield that was Adrian’s name.

"I know."

"You know, and you still dared to kidnap me? Aren’t you afraid he’ll hold you accountable?" Adrian’s name still held considerable power, and Sienna was happy to use it.

"Adrian and I are enemies! Even if I didn’t kidnap you, he’d still find me to settle scores."

He stopped in front of her. A strong odor assaulted her nostrils, making Sienna nearly faint.

"I’m sorry, I’m pregnant and sensitive to smells. Could you stay away from me?"

Maxwell’s gaze paused on her for a moment before slowly shifting to her lower abdomen. "Adrian’s little bastard!"

"No! It’s my child!"

Looking at Sienna’s photos, Maxwell had found her exceedingly beautiful. After kidnapping her, he found her intriguing, especially because she wasn’t afraid of him.

"Very few women aren’t afraid of me!" he said.

"...I’m only Adrian’s mistress. I’m not that important to him. If you think you can use me to threaten him, I advise you to save yourself the trouble."

"You have that little confidence in yourself?" Maxwell raised his eyebrows at her, his eyes full of interest.

"No, this is self-knowledge!"

Sienna was thoroughly disheartened. She even began to doubt if Adrian had ever truly loved her. If he genuinely loved her, how could he, knowing her jealousy and how much she cared, still insist on marrying Melanie Carpenter? She wasn’t a clingy woman. If Melanie was the one he truly loved, couldn’t he take pity on her and let her go home? She had been gone for half a year. She wondered how things were back home. Frederick Stewart and Sabrina Johnson, those two despicable individuals, had probably married by now. Her father wasn’t in good health. The news of her ’death’ would undoubtedly devastate him... And Teddy... Sienna dared not dwell on it, for the thought alone brought a pang to her heart.

"Boss, Adrian Desmond is here..." a voice reported from beyond the door.

"What?" exclaimed a surprised Maxwell.

"He’s outside. Should we let him in?"

Maxwell gave Sienna a deep look, stretching out his hand to touch her smooth cheek, but she dodged him.

"Little beauty, I didn’t think Adrian cared that much about you. He’s actually come, apparently not afraid of death."

Although Sienna didn’t know the depths of the bitter enmity between Adrian and Maxwell, she sensed that Adrian’s reckless arrival was extremely dangerous.

"Will you kill him?" Sienna asked worriedly.

"Do you want him to die?" Maxwell countered.

Sienna remained silent. There were times she hated Adrian so much she wished he were dead, especially when she first met him. But now... Sienna gently caressed her belly. Her feelings were clear: even if Adrian was unfaithful, she still wanted him to live.

"...Don’t think about using me to hurt him. I won’t be any help to you." This was Sienna’s stance.

Maxwell got up to dress, then left to meet Adrian.

Sienna, on the other hand, was led by a servant to an unfamiliar room. The room was huge, with a Persian rug on the floor, decorated in lavish Avrupa-style palace decor. Sienna sat on the long bench at the foot of the bed, her mind in turmoil.

After some thought, an unsettling feeling prompted Sienna to go to the door. She opened it, only to find the servant who had brought her there glaring at her with hostility. Immediately, she shut the door and bolted it from the inside.

Looking around the room, she noticed an open window, the white sheer curtains dancing gently in the night breeze. Walking over, she saw Adrian’s car. Her heart clenched painfully, making it difficult to breathe.

"Adrian, I hate you the most when you’re like this! If you love me, then love only me. If you don’t, then be cruel to me! What is all this supposed to mean..." Sienna’s tears rolled down her cheeks, her feelings for Adrian a mixture of love and hate.

It was quiet outside. Sienna knew she couldn’t just wait passively. Carefully, she climbed out of the window. She was on the third floor. Fortunately, she was quite agile, thanks to the close quarter combat training she had received from Xavier Young. She slipped into an adjacent room through another open window.

She tiptoed into the hallway and heard Adrian’s voice coming from downstairs.

"I know you’ve been searching for your son! Let’s make a deal. I’ll give you back your son, and you give me back my woman!"

"That’s not a good deal!"

"Maxwell, if I don’t willingly tell you your son’s whereabouts, believe me, you’ll never find him in this lifetime. Do you believe that?"

"...Your woman is pregnant. Exchanging one person for two is certainly not a fair trade!"

"What do you want?"

"Let me sleep with her once, and I’ll let you take her away. How’s that?" Maxwell was still fixated on Sienna’s beauty.

Adrian clenched his fists, restraining himself with all his might. Since Sienna became pregnant, he himself had been reluctant to touch her, afraid of harming the child in her womb. This Maxwell was truly courting death.

"No!" Adrian refused.

Maxwell smirked sinisterly. "Well, there’s another way."

"What?"

Adrian was now completely at a disadvantage. If he didn’t love Mai and care about the child in her womb, Maxwell wouldn’t have this leverage over him. He could have feigned indifference, but he couldn’t bear the thought of any harm coming to them.

That woman was so beautiful; any man would be captivated. Adrian wasn’t willing to wait even a single night, which was why he had risked coming.

"Adrian, you let me take one shot at you! Then, I’ll let your woman go!"
