The Beautiful CEO’s Dragon Blood Bodyguard -
Chapter 155 - 0155 A Sudden Incident
Chapter 155: Chapter 0155 A Sudden Incident
In the Lin’s Group building, Lin Yingying had already been working in the office for over an hour.
Every so often, she would take a walk outside, and noticing Long Fei hadn’t arrived, she felt a slight sense of disappointment.
She thought it was because of the glass wall she had installed yesterday that had hurt Long Fei’s feelings, driving the guy away without a word.
She wanted to contact Long Fei, but, out of pride, she held back.
As a CEO, she couldn’t just yield to a bodyguard.
After Long Fei sent her a WeChat message, she opened it and learned that Long Fei had gone to take his driving test.
He had even sent a selfie from the examination hall with a worried expression.
Lin Yingying felt foolish for worrying for nothing, and replied with a message, "Next time you do this without asking for leave, slacking off at will, I’ll deduct your salary directly!"
Long Fei responded with a smiling face, repeatedly apologizing.
Lin Yingying was somewhat satisfied and gave him a day off. She figured it would be good for Long Fei to get a driver’s license so that future visits to the companies below wouldn’t require a driver; she could just have Long Fei take her.
The door was knocked, and Su Qi came in with a stack of documents from outside.
Lin Yingying hurriedly put away her phone and asked, "What’s up? What’s this?"
Su Qi pointed at her watch and said, "It’s time for the board meeting, we should head to the meeting now!"
Lin Yingying slapped her forehead, her morning had been so chaotic that she had forgotten all about it.
She asked Su Qi, "Will our arrangement succeed?"
Su Qi said confidently, "Don’t worry, does your Second Uncle really have another choice?"
"One can only hope!"
Lin Yingying sighed, feeling a twitch in her right eyelid, unsure what bad news was forthcoming.
She and Su Qi left the office together. Now, there was an additional glass door which Su Qi was not used to; she pushed against it twice, complaining to her, "Why did you install a door inside, worried about Long Fei peeping at you?"
"What are you talking about!"
Lin Yingying shot her a glance, her face flushed with an unnatural hint of shyness.
She and Su Qi entered the conference room one after the other, where the shareholders had already gathered around the table and taken their seats.
As a newcomer to the company, Lin Yingying’s power was limited.
To remove the HR director from duty, she still needed the board’s approval.
Her father was no longer involved in affairs, leaving everything to her.
Looking at these old guys, Lin Yingying felt an inexplicable sense of suffocation, as if a rope was tied around her.
She sat down in the main seat in the middle, with Su Qi sitting on one side next to her.
To her right and down was her Second Uncle, Lin Guohao, and some other relatives of the Lin Family.
To the left were outside partners, all of whom had been there since the days of Elder Master Lin.
Lin Yingying began, "Let’s not beat around the bush, the information has already been sent to all of you. The matter with Zheng Tuo has caused a great impact on the company. For the benefit of all shareholders and the order of the company, he must vacate the position of HR director."
The shareholders nodded, showing no objections.
One shareholder spoke up, "Director Lin, in your opinion, who should take on this role?"
The shareholder wore glasses and appeared scholarly; it was none other than Li Wenwen’s father, Li Zhewen.
He was firmly on Lin Yingying’s side in the company.
"Uncle Li, I do have a candidate in mind!"
Lin Yingying chuckled, then turned to look at her Second Uncle and said, "I think Geng Zhong, the deputy manager of the HR department, has been diligent and responsible over the years and has performed quite well. He could succeed as the HR director."
The shareholder and several surnamed shareholders to his left nodded repeatedly, expressing their agreement right away.
Lin Yingying watched the situation unfold and noticed that among the surnamed shareholders, there were actually three who remained silent.
The shareholders on the right, shamefully, were all her second uncle’s people.
Lin Yingying’s father had offended the family’s relatives when he reformed the family business to rid it of its inherent flaws.
All of them had sided with Lin Guohao, now led by him.
Lin Guohao pondered for a moment, rubbing his temples and said, "Yingying, the position of Director of Human Resources is critical for the regeneration of our company’s talent and carries great significance. I feel that although Geng Zhong is capable, he lacks the drive for innovation and can’t keep up with the developments of modern society."
Lin Yingying’s brows tightened, glancing at Su Qi; she hadn’t expected her second uncle to oppose.
They had already stepped back, not placing their own person and opting for the neutral Geng Zhong.
Now, Lin Guohao wouldn’t even afford them this courtesy.
Repressing her anger, she asked, "May I know whom Second Uncle considers suitable for the position?"
Lin Guohao replied, "I did some digging these past two days, and Chu Feng, the manager of the HR department’s administrative team, this young man has done quite well! He’s young and promising with strong pioneering capabilities. I believe that with him as the Director of Human Resources, he will definitely bring a fresh energy and change to the company."
As soon as he mentioned Chu Feng’s name, both Lin Yingying and Su Qi were stunned.
Su Qi had unmistakably informed Lin Guohao that Zheng Tuo’s ousting had been Chu Feng’s doing behind the scenes.
Unexpectedly, Lin Guohao had chosen an enemy to succeed.
Lin Yingying couldn’t fathom Lin Guohao’s intentions at the moment and countered, "Second Uncle, Chu Feng has just joined the company and lacks seniority. If we choose him as the Director of Human Resources, what would the company staff think?"
Lin Guohao said, "Although he’s new to the company, he’s experienced various departments, and that’s a form of seniority too! Yingying, your father gave you the position of president out of trust in the younger generation. Let’s just look at you; you were absent from any position in the company, but once you returned, you took the president’s seat, and we old-timers didn’t object, did we?"
The group of family shareholders on the right all nodded, clearly showing support as Lin Guohao had briefed them.
They, together with Lin Guohao, occupied ten seats, among which three or four were fence-sitters, the rest staunchly in Lin Guohao’s camp.
The non-family shareholders on the left also had ten seats, similarly with three or four fence-sitters, and three who had been silent since the beginning.
Only three shareholders were firmly on Lin Yingying’s side.
At that moment, they seemed very much isolated.
Lin Yingying looked towards the three silent shareholders: Cheng Shusheng, Jiang Ming, and Shen Guozhang.
Previously, they always sided with Lin Yingying. Their silence this time was unexpected.
She asked, "Uncle Cheng, Uncle Jiang, Uncle Shen, what do you mean by this?"
The three cleared their throats and said to Lin Yingying, "We agree with Vice President Lin’s opinion and would like Chu Feng to be the Director of the HR department."
"Yes, we believe he is capable."
"It’s good to give young people a chance to prove themselves in this position!"
Lin Yingying stared at them, her mind going blank.
She hadn’t expected that these three non-family shareholders would side with Lin Guohao.
It was known that in the past, they were fierce enemies who couldn’t coexist.
Su Qi cleared her throat, giving her a reminder.
Finally snapping back to reality, Lin Yingying said coldly, "Well then, let’s follow the old rules and vote by a show of hands! Those who agree that Chu Feng should take up the position, please raise your hand!"
Lin Guohao was the first to raise his hand, with almost all of his family shareholders following suit.
The three non-family shareholders also raised their hands in unison.
A large majority supported Chu Feng.
Lin Yingying and Su Qi were caught off guard, not anticipating the extent of Chu Feng’s influence, or that he could even win over Lin Guohao.
