Chapter 245: Last quest on Erok. Part 3. [A sacrifice]
Dragon lord, also known as the mountain god of the five Peak mountains lives near the border of Romos. For centuries, the mountain god has protected the land from demonic beast invasion and in exchange, people have offered virgins, especially young elf virgins, every 10 years.
Nobody knows what the mountain god does with the virgins yet, nobody bothered to look for the answer. It has been a ritual for elves since the beginning of their country’s foundation.
This is where everything goes wrong. The elven kingdom is situated beside Romos and a shadow forest where demonic beasts live. Since the elven people sacrifice a virgin every 10 years, the mountain god eats and protects the elven kingdom.
But the mountain god does not protect Romos from the demonic beasts, which is why the people living near the border do not have any life safety. The king has tried so many times to follow the same ritual as the elven people but he found no result.
This made him angry and wanted to take a risk since he had already summoned the heroes. The heroes could easily wipe out every single monster so one day, he decided to take revenge on the mountain god.
He put up a request to kill the mountain god and as planned, the heroes took the quest.
’Heheh... That idiot..’
Viktor knew why exactly the dragon lord needs an elven virgin every 10 years.
’That old dragon punk doesn’t have the power to create a barrier all over the elven kingdom. To make a good barrier, it needs an elf with high magic affinity. It doesn’t matter if the elf is a virgin or not because it doesn’t matter anyway. All he needs is a girl with high magic affinity and to make her into a meatball.
The meatball filled with magic affinity is enough for the dragon lord to create a barrier that stays for 10 years.
He’s not some old perverted freak who loves virgin loli-_-. He’s just doing his job to get a good 10 years of sleep.’
Viktor sighed and looked at the border of the elven kingdom from afar. The huge tree in the middle of the country was so huge that it was nearly touching the first layer of the atmosphere.
But still, it was nothing compared to those threes in Helsia.
Yir stood next to Viktor on the tree branch where Viktor was sitting. He then looked at Viktor sighing every minute so he asked, "Is something wrong, my lord? You look like you’re so tired. Is that mortal body bothering you that much?"
*Sigh...*
Viktor again sighed and replied, "No. It’s been a few months since I haven’t slept well."
"Mortal body is very inconvenient," Yir complained.
"Nah, it’s just me who loves to sleep even in my divine body. A week-long sleep is the minimum sleep I used to get in Helsia. Compared to that, sleeping for 7 hours feels like a quick nap."
"I see, my lord is very passionate about sleeping."
Viktor smiled a little and said, "Let’s go. It’s almost time for the sacrificing ritual of the elven kingdom. I can see the lights coming inside the jungle. They are heading to the dragon’s den for sure. Let’s follow them in secret."
"Yes, my lord."

"Listen, Mimio, be a good girl and listen to the mountain god. You have to behave like a good girl."
The little girl with golden hair and pointy ears shed tears and grabbed her mother’s gown tightly. She was only a 9 years old little girl and unfortunately, her mana affinity was higher than average.
For that reason, she was chosen as a sacrifice by the elven king.
But what could a 9-year-old baby think at that moment? Her life was over before it could begin. She never had any friends nor received love from her parents ever since she was declared as a sacrifice.
The little girl looked at her mother’s solemn face and became a little frightened because she was silent. That’s because of the amount of money she had received from the king for selling her daughter.
"M..mom..?"
The woman grabbed her small skin-to-bone arm and dragged her outside the house. She threw them in front of the group of men wearing white robes and said, "Take that bug away from my house. Mimio, you should be grateful that you can at least become useful to the kingdom for being a sacrifice. I’ve done enough for a stepdaughter like you. Now leave and become the pride of our family."
She shut the door in front of her, leaving her alone with a group of unknown men.
"Young lady, please let us take care of you."
Mimio became broken, her heart shattered into pieces because her little brain knew what happens to sacrifices. She already had accepted her fate.
After so many arrangements, she was seated on a huge chair, dressing up as a new bride. Four men were carrying the chair and soon, they entered the forest by banging on drums in a calming rhythm.
’This is my fate... I am going to die after they leave me in front of the dragon lord’s den. No, he will eat me for sure.’
She looked at the moon, illuminating a silver hue and mumbled, ’God, if you exist. Please save me... I don’t want to die..’
A smile appeared on her face and she realized the reality. ’Heheh... this is nonsense. If a god really existed, he’d already kill all the demonic beasts and kill the demon lord who eats children.’
Her mind finally cracked.
"Heheh.. hehe heh.. ahahaha!!!" She laughed out loud like a maniac that made the group of men feel uncomfortable.
Looking at her pitiful face, they started to talk within themselves.
"Has she finally gone crazy? Are you sure this is a good sign?"
"I don’t know. But the king has already decided. I heard his daughter has the most mana affinity. But he rejected the church’s decision and selected an illegamentt child of a famous merchant. Tsk..tsk.. "
"Look at the way she is laughing...if something happens to the ritual, I am leaving this country. This country is doomed for the idiotic king’s decision."
"So when are you leaving?"
"Next week. I will come back if things are okay."
"Scary cat.."
"Who you callin’ a scary cat, hu??" The elf with a strong build glared at the short golden-haired elf.
Right at that moment, the group of men stopped walking because they sensed a dense flow of mana, a powerful aura they’d never felt before.
In a second, all of them knelt and became quiet except for the girl who was laughing like a crazy person.
After a minute, a man walked out behind a tree. He was not walking because his feet were a few inches above the ground so all of them knew he wasn’t an ordinary person.
The presence they were feeling was more dangerous than they felt in front of the dragon lord’s den.
"I wonder who was laughing like this in the middle of the night. It was very annoying so I came out to see who it was. Turns out, it’s just a little kid. She has the guts to laugh when I am realising my aura. What an interesting bug."
The group of men kept silent."
Another man with golden hair appeared behind the white-haired man and said, "My lord, her mind seems to be broken because of a huge shock. That’s why she is laughing before your presence."
"I see. Broken mind, huh? She’s only a 9-year-old elf and already broken? I heard elves are supposed to live more than hundreds of years so they grow up slower than other mortals. Judging by her age, she’s supposed to be a small newborn baby."
"She has a huge mana core, that’s why she grew up quickly, my lord."
Viktor rubbed his chin and ordered, "That’s it. I’ve decided to take her now. Yir, go and put her to sleep."
Yir suddenly appeared behind the small child that everyone felt but couldn’t do anything. They knew very well how strong both of them were and they weren’t humans or any mortals. They knew both of them belonged somewhere higher than the mortal realm.
Viktor then saw the girl falling asleep in Yir’s arms. He then took the girl in his arms and looked at the group of men. "Listen, elves. Instead of relying on others, learn to protect yourself. You are more powerful than any living intelligent on Erok so why are you so prideful? Just throw some of that pride and fight like a man. What’s wrong with staining your hand with monster blood? Your hand isn’t going to rot."
Viktor then looked at the light weighted kid in his arms and thought, ’A 9-year-old kid shouldn’t weigh like this... she’s small compared to other kids. Her skin is too pale, which indicates a shortage of blood in her body. Her hair isn’t healthy looking and her skin is rough... shortage of vitamin C and E... hum... she needs proper care.’
But deep inside his thoughts, he knew what he was doing. She was also a great subject for creating a powerhouse.
