Chapter 215: Demon lord?

"Welcome to High rise guild! Are you ready to start your adventure?" A young lady glared at Viktor’s face and greeted him out of nowhere. He was straining near the door and then a lady with two ponytails came and started to annoy him.

She again said, "Dear adventurer, what kind of quest do you want to have today? We have lots of F-rank quests ready."

"I’m not here for the F class quest. Sorry. I’m here to check out. I’m new here."

"Oh!! A new adventurer! Please follow me to the reception and get your id and adventure card ready."

Last night, Viktor’s ID again changed due to his job so he was listed as a B-class adventurer. B class is known as the equal of A class so he didn’t want to take it out. It would create unnecessary attention so he said, "Um. Can I sell some herbs instead of taking a quest and checking out?"

"Non-adventurers get 20% fewer profits than the listed ones."

’I guess I have no choice then...’

He followed the girl and took a blue herb from his inventory. He opened his inventory inside his bag so nobody noticed anything. The lady didn’t recognize the herb at first so when she put the herb on the appraisal slab, it counted its value as 3 platinum coins.

She was sleepless to see such numbers from a single herb. It was called the herb of life, a herb that heals any kind of curse. A legendary herb.

She quickly ran inside the guild master’s room and talked about the herb a new adventurer found.

’That herb is the lowest quality-_-. What are they even talking about... That herb might have some properties of healing any curse but the process of making that potion is difficult. It’s going to take hours just to take out its essences manually.’

Viktor sighed and said, "Can you give me the money? Or I’m going to leave with my herb.’

"No!!! Please wait!! Our guild master is currently busy checking its quality. Please wait a few more minutes."

At that moment, a group of adventurers approached him and said, "Yo!! I’m Kei Miclare, the leader of the Star Party. You look so strong despite your baby look. How about joining my party? We split our share equally."

In that world, Viktor’s avatar wasn’t of a kid’s at all. He was tall, and he looked like 23 but his soft hairless face was making him look like he was less than 18.

Kei held his shoulder and said, "You must have great searching skills, right? We need your skill so join us."

"Sorry, but I have to decline. I am a busy person."

"Huh? You’re disobeying an order from a noble person like me? Do you know I am assigned to join the otherworldly heroes party. If you’re at my party, you will be lucky to see them with your filthy eyes."

Viktor came inside the guild after putting his mask on so there was no way Kei could see his eyes.

Viktor then said, "Ha.. how unlucky I am.. not being able to see the heroes with my own eyes.."

Suddenly, the girl came out with Viktor’s herb and said, "The herb has been approved by the guild master. Please give me your adventuring card to complete the transaction."

Viktor gave her his card and she nearly fell on her knee. "B...B rank Adventurer..Viktor E. North...A noble family with a middle name.. I. I’m so sorry for my behaviour. "

"It’s okay."

Viktor then removed his mask a little to show his eyes to the receptionist and winked. "Let me treat you to a meal. You don’t have to apologize."

She blushed and agreed with his plan. Viktor took his card and left the guild after fixing his date with the girl. He needed to look into the orphanage matter after all and she had a demonic aura too.

She wasn’t a normal human after all.

Kei followed Viktor out of the guild and shouted to stop him from waking away. "Oi!! Stop right there!! I’ve never heard of any noble family called North in my whole life!! Did you buy a name?"

"That’s none of your business, kid. Go away and stop annoying me." He took out his staff and said, "Kid, it’s best if you go and study now. Your exam is near."

"Study!! Me?? What do you think I...."

Viktor vanished before his eyes and Kei was left alone in front of the guild.

...

’It’s shopping time!!!’

Viktor appeared in the shopping district to buy clothes for his job. The market area was only open for nobles so the coats were on fire. One outfit was more than 100 gold coins but since he had money in his pocket he began to look for his clothes.

’But where am I going to stay at night? Should I buy a house from the housing market of nobles?’ He looked around and saw the office of lands and housing. So he went inside after buying lots of clothes and loose fabrics.

"Excuse me, do you have free land near the mountains?"

An old man answered, "It’s rare to see a nobleman looking for land outside the city. Do you want to make a summer house over the mountain? Or a secret base for your slaves?"

"I don’t wish to answer your question."

The old man smirked and opened a huge book of maps on the table. He then pointed to a place near the mountain, near the border and deep inside the forest where monsters live.

"I will recommend you buy the land near the border. You can escape easily with your slaves and research subjects...how about that?"

Viktor ignored his advice and said, "Inside the forest. How much does this land cost?"

The old man was shocked because the land was near an old abandoned dungeon. That area was famous for poisonous snakes and dangerous monsters. Even if someone offers 100 gold for e entering the place, everyone would reject it.

"Um.. dear customer...I don’t think you will like that place.."

"Doesn’t matter. How much for the land?"

"5...500 gold.."

"Huh??"

"No... no. I mean, 100 gold. Ahah ...aha.."

Viktor was surprised because the price of the land was super cheap and the dealer was surprised because someone was actually paying money to get ownership over that land. He was also happy because the forest lands were supposed to be given out for free but he was able to get some gold coins from the customers.

"Um, dear customer. Here is the paper. You have to sign it."

Viktor took the paper and used his staff’s mana to sign it. If he used his mana, he’d leave a trace so he had to use a different mana to sign it.

"Thank you for your purchase. I hope you have a great day."

Viktor came out of the building with his new land map and mumbled, ’Well, it’s time to make a new house there. It’s best to make a road that connects with the main road because I will be getting letters from the academy. But before that, I have to take that receptionist girl on a date and reveal her true form.

...

A few hours later after a great lunch.

"Sir Viktor! I had a great day! I hope we can go on a date every day from now on." The ponytail girl looked at him with a seductive charm and again said, "If you wink at me like that again, I’m afraid I might fall in love with you!"

Viktor chuckled and replied, "Miss Keya, you’re very beautiful. You’re so pure that I can almost see your soul through your body."

She misunderstood Viktor and thought her illusion magic wasn’t working well. She fed some mana in her illusion magic item and then fixed her hair. "Ahaha... What are you talking about, sir Viktor?"

Viktor intentionally took her to a quiet place and stood on the bridge near the end of the town. He then smiled at her and said, "Keya, your tail is sticking out."

She immediately put her long, black, pointy tail inside her skirt and replied, "You must be seeing things because you drink too much of that expensive wine. Let me help you to carry you back to your house."

"Keya, a demon demigod is my servant so I know what a demonic aura looks and feels like. Your charm has been irritating me since noon. I want you to stop doing it and have a friendly chat once again."

"You’re a demon exterminator. I am surprised that an exterminator looked through my illusion. I am quite confident in my strength so it’s a matter of worrying that someone was able to look through it. It’s sad but I have to get rid of you."

Viktor then said, "As I said before. I have a servant who is a high-demon demigod. That makes me a friend of all demonic beings. I don’t hold any grudge against any demon or human. I want to know what demonkind is hiding on this planet."

"Bold of you to assume that I will believe a filthy human like you. You’re all the same. Don’t hesitate to stab one’s back when he’s no longer needed."

Viktor sighed and again said, "Do you want me to show you what my servant’s aura feels like?"

Since some of his restrictions were lifted, he was able to use a small portion of his powers. Showing Adonis’s loyal aura was one of them too. Viktor then opened the link to the servant bond and let his demonic aura out of his body. Since it was a demonic aura of a demigod, all the bugs, animals and birds flee from the area.

Keya was on her knees trembling in fear. She then said, "The prophecy is really true... The demon lord will come to this land to stop the heroes from destroying the seal and discovering the item we have been guarding for centuries. It is true that the demon lord will be someone from the human race."

She bowed in front of him and said, "I surrender in front of our great lord. Please guide us to the right path and fight the heroes."

Viktor was left speechless.
