Chapter 204: Blessing

Chapter 204: Blessing

The place looked like an oasis when Viktor stepped inside. The small pond was surrounded by the rare herb he was looking for. Also, there were so many types of plants he had never seen on Helsia, filled with sparkling red flowers. It looked like a paradise.

Not only that, he noticed spirits flying around like bees from this flower to that. They were all trying to get rid of the bloomed flower because their polen wasn’t good for the small oasis.

Viktor said, "You said that you wanted to build a house. Then why didn’t you choose this place?"

"I have no permission to live here.."

"What do you mean?"

Viktor looked back and saw the girl wasn’t there. There was no basket or her presence. It seemed like she vanished like smoke.

"Am I hallucinating things now?"

At that moment, a glowing orb flew closer to his face and said, "Visitor. May I ask who you are?"

Usually, spirits don’t have the intelligence to talk like humans. So a small spirit who was talking like a human, made Viktor surprised. He then replied, "I am Viktor E. North. Do you know where the girl is? The small girl who came here with me?"

"It was just you who entered through the barrier a moment ago. There wasn’t any girl. If you came here by following anyone, it must be a shadow spirit whom we gave the order to protect the forest."

"So I followed a spirit without knowing?"

"Yes. She must’ve found the chosen person while searching around the nearest town for a decade. We are glad that she was able to find one this soon. So dear visitor, will you help us?"

"How may I help you?" Viktor asked.

"Please drive the demons away from the forest. They are harming our home."

"The demons? What kind of demons?"

"Demon dogs."

Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of him. It said,

*Hidden quest

Kill 20 demon dogs.

Duration: 3 days.

Quest clearing reward: The blessing of the forest spirit.

Quest failing penalty: None.*

’Huh? A hidden quest? And the penalty is nothing? Isn’t this great?’

Viktor read the whole quest from top to bottom and said, "Alright. I accept the quest. But there is one request."

"Say it."

"Can I have some of those flowers?"

’These herb is the requested herb from the guild. I don’t know why but the page looked pretty old. Moreover, the lady who was giving out quests smirked while stamping my guild card. I guess she was making fun of me under that beautiful face. She will be very surprised to see I managed to collect a herb. Not only that, my hundred years of plant managing experience is telling me that blue trash-looking flowers are rare and more useful. I wonder if I can make some good potion out of it and sell it.

The spirit looked around and said, "You mean these? Yes. They are common here so you can take all of them if you want to. We don’t like them either."

"Ah, is that so? Then, excuse me-_-."

Viktor started to cut them one by one from one side to another. The spirits also felt guilty because he was mowing the area without getting paid so they offered some fruits to him.

Who knew Viktor was going to lick the area clean?

After a whole day, Viktor finally stopped plucking the herbs and took a seat near the small pond. The fruits that small spirits gave him were no ordinary fruits. It increased his mana to 14 and also boosted his strength.

He was in perfect health for fighting the demons. So after resting for an hour, he stood up and said, "Can someone tell me where the demon dog’s nest is? I will go and start my hunt."

The spirits were worried about his health. In their eyes, Viktor looked like a weak and small young boy who was only level 1. So they said, "Please wait for a day. It’s almost night so it will be dangerous if you go and hunt. You’re a mage after all. A mage can’t fight with demon dogs alone at night."

"Hum? I can fight, don’t worry. Just trust me and I will finish them off in a night."

The leader of the spirit was worried. So she said, "Then, allow me to go with you. I can’t help you in your fight but I can at least tell you where to go and when to run away when you are tired."

Viktor agreed with her and then left the small spirit forest to hunt the demon dogs. His levels were reduced to human level by the tower system but it forgot to restrict his powers to talk with any animals or demons.

It also failed to restrict the fact that every animal or monster is friendly to him. So, the hunt was pretty easy for Viktor.

The small spirit took Viktor to the edge of the forest and then, they entered a place where trees were lifeless. The ground was dry and there was no hint of life around.

The forest was silent.

"Is this the place?" Viktor asked.

"Yes, this is the territory of the demon dogs. They are harming the forest and also planning to take over our home. They should be stopped."

"Then, I don’t think you should come with me from now on. I can sense that you are trembling. Is it that cold?"

"Y...yes. We, the nature spirits, can’t handle lifeless places. It sucks our power."

Viktor poked the floating, glowing orb and said, "You should go back now. I will bring good news." Viktor then started to run by following the traces of demon dogs. He noticed a big mountain and a cave so he entered it without hesitating a bit.

Since no animal can harm him, he had this confidence that the demon dogs would be the same.

Sadly, he was wrong. The demon dogs began to growl right after they smelt Viktor.

"Au...I thought I would play with them a little bit.."

Viktor raised his staff and spoke something odd. It wasn’t a language but also, it wasn’t any sound made by tongue. It was a magic spell, created by an unknown immortal who served a nameless god.

Suddenly, the aura around him gathered in one place and quickly turned into small wind needles. It quickly flew and pierced through five demon dogs’ heads without making a pin-drop sound.

The dogs fell to the ground and died right away.

"I should be very grateful because of his technique. It cost me 1 mana but still, I’m grateful that I memorized them. This small be my trump card. But for now, let’s gather the monster core."

Viktor again started to run deep inside the cave and kill demon dogs one by one without stopping. He wasn’t enjoying it at all but he had to finish the quest soon. Because it was a side quest and he still had his guide quest to finish.

*Congratulations on completing the quest.

You have levelled up.

You have received the blessing of the forest spirit.

Your stats will increase by 2.

You have gained a skill.

Skill: Wind needle lv 1.*

"I still can’t get used to these game-like features in real life. Well, it’s actually normal because I am in a world that is controlled by the god of dungeons. Making a system is nothing to him."

Viktor then took all the monster cores and put them inside his new inventory. The inventory was small compared to his dimension pocket. But it was enough to fit 5 cars. So, putting the monster corpses was easy.

"But what does this blessing or nature spirit mean? Does it increase or open some link with nature? I have a wind attribute so does it mean I can use heal or something? Or grow tree roots out of my hand like Groot?"

Viktor then focused on his newly gained skill and understood its properties. It was a healing skill and it recovers his stats faster than before.

It also had a self-regeneration skill but it was locked because he was only level 1. He needed to reach level 20 to unlock the regeneration skill.

"Aren’t I a lucky person? To think that I would strike the jackpot on my first day!"

Viktor took a seat on a dusty boulder to rest and looked at the dark ceiling. A dim light was emitting from crystals stuck on the wall around him so he was able to see his surroundings.

He then sighed and looked at his floating screen again. All of his skills were locked because of the tower seal so he was a little disappointed. Also, none of his strategies worked so he was more pissed off.

But it was like a vacation inside a game to him so he calmed his mind and said, "Don’t worry. I can figure out why he built this and then I can blow off the tower. But for now, let’s sleep because my body is trembling from the lack of sleep.

"Let’s have a good sleep now. Tomorrow when I will wake up, I will go to the..."

But he fell asleep before he could finish his sentence.
