Chapter 189: Everyone is his enemy
But he just killed a demigod just like that? She was on the same level as Mors. Just how powerful he is?
Viktor stared at Kobayashi while having dinner on the table in the middle of a deep forest. He was also surprised by how kind he was towards his friends and how cruel he acts towards those who he doesn’t care about. He just killed a demigod in the blink of his eye.
Viktor then said, "Kobayashi, how long are you going to stay in Helsia?"
"For some years. Then I have to visit the guardian realm for official work. But when are you going to enter the tower?"
Adonis then said, "I am totally unaware of this matter. Master, can you please tell me what’s going on? I’m facing trouble trying to understand your conversation."
"His territory is in danger. I’m the only volunteer who’s willing to help. But in exchange, our group will be getting VIP security from Kobayashi until the succession tournament."
"That’s great. But how long are you going to stay in the tower?"
"About 40, it will take 50 maximum. Until then, all of you will stay under Kobayashi’s surveillance."
Adonis was shocked. He then asked, "Am I not tagging along?"
"Adonis, the tower doesn’t allow parties. It’s a solo raid and I know the only way to the core. It will be freaking dangerous if you go. So don’t get sad."
Adonis looked at his place and mumbled, "I’m still not strong enough to aid you, master. I’m such a failure."
"Please don’t say that. It’s not my fault that it doesn’t accept any parties. Once I go in, the entrance will be sealed and will be open once I complete the dungeon or have died inside. And even if we two go inside, we will be separated just like before. We won’t see each other until the final boss."
"Then, I will prove my worth by reaching the boss floor before you. Please give me permission to enter the tower with you. I swear that I will come back alive."
Viktor was a little worried. Because all he could see was the future where Adonis had died right after he entered. There was no chance of him cleaning the first floor, let alone reaching the boss floor in 50 years.
’Looks like I need to use another method. I can’t just let him in the tower with me.’
Viktor then said, "Adonis, do you trust me?"
"I trust my master with my soul."
"Then you must complete all the lower-class dungeons on Helsia with Mors and Ifrit before stepping inside the tower."
Mors nearly choked on his food. He then screamed, "Why am I getting involved without my opinion? Oi Viktor!"
Welis then said, "Can you just shut up and listen? I’m sure he has some plans for you."
Mors replied, "Shut up."
’Adonis might be sad because I’m not taking him. But my main objective is not to clear the dungeon. The quest that Kobayashi gave me is to destroy the dungeon. Not to complete it. Both ways are different and I have to take the opposite way to open the door to the dungeon heart. For that, I need to go below the dungeon, not upwards. But I can’t tell that to Adonis because he will start to roll on the ground. I need to make Kobayashi look after them and guide them to the easiest dungeons in order to make them stronger and more clever.’
Viktor looked at Kobayashi and said, "If you can look after them until I finish my job, I will give you 10 cores in advance."
Kobayashi was curious about the mana cores he was talking about. He wasn’t interested in babysitting demigods but for the sake of his territory, he agreed and said, "Then, shall I give them some special training?"
Viktor grinned and said, "Well, why not? It will be their pleasure to receive special training from a noble god. Don’t you agree, Adonis?"
Viktor’s evil smile made Adonis think about his life for a second. He then replied, "Since you’re going to the tower, I will do what you said and then enter the tower after completing the training."
"Very good. Now Kobayashi, can we talk somewhere? I have something to tell you."
"Hm, I know a good place in the town. Let’s go there."
"Well then, Adonis. I’ll be back soon."
....
The central city of Helsia, Konbo is known as the city of the upper realm gate entrance. Here, gods and demigods travel between realms through sky gates and do various types of business. Konbo is also known as the city of scams where immortals bait the new demigods so they can become their servants and then betray them when they are no longer needed.
In front of the sky gates that directly connect to the underworld, a group of professional scammers sits and acts to attract the newcomers’ attention.
This is the place where Viktor and Kobayashi came to have a friendly chat.
Viktor took a seat inside a restaurant beside the huge white gate where a group of people in rags were sitting. He looked at everyone and saw they were all criminals and serial killers. Most of them had killed more than 20-30 demigods to obtain powers but sadly, they were all weak. So they were waiting for their next target right in front of the gate.
Viktor then looked at a small child who was staring at Viktor through the window with a sad expression. Viktor then smiled and showed him the bread that he was about to eat. The child was happy that he was offering him one. But when Viktor started to eat it with a happy face, the child grinned at him and punched the window glass.
Kobayashi then burst out of laughter. He said, "You are so cruel. How can you play with such an innocent child?"
"He’s the leader of that group of scammers. He’s just using a child’s form to lure out new faces."
Kobayashi then pointed his finger at the window and said, "Look, that child bought more at the window. They are all staring at you."
Viktor again looked out through the window and saw more than 5 children staring at him with puppy eyes. So he said, "Don’t they feel cringe to do such things? What is the restaurant owner doing? Can’t he just drive them off?"
At that moment, a waiter came and said, "Dear customer. Do you need anything else?"
Viktor looked at the man and saw pink eyes. He looked like a 16-year-old kid but Viktor’s eyes aren’t something that can be deceived by appearance.
Viktor politely replied, "No, we’re here for some alcohol. We don’t need a meal. The bread was enough."
"Oh, then how many servings do you need?"
"10 will be enough."
Kobayashi then said, "It’s 2 gold coins per glass. Where did you get the money from?"
"I stole it from Name’s garden-_-. I found the way to the secret vault when I was searching for some rare plant."
"You’re unbelievable...-_-."
The waiter then served the glasses full of good beer and said that they had to pay before touching the glass. So Viktor handed him over 20 gold coins without hesitation and said, "1 gold coin to close the window curtains. Their gaze is pretty annoying."
The waiter looked at where Viktor was pointing and apologised. He then came back and said, "May I ask for the dear customer’s name?"
Viktor smiled and replied, "I’m Ivon."
Kobayashi was surprised. Since nobody can lie about their identity, he was surprised at how Viktor casually lied without getting affected by the mouth spell. So he asked, "Oi, what was that just now?"
"That? That’s also my name...but I hate it. So I use it when I don’t feel like it."
"How... how did you do that?"
Viktor took a sip of his beer and said, "There is nothing that I can’t learn. When I was in the underworld, I just glanced at every page of every book in the library. After the ritual was over, I just altered the language and learned about the ceremony."
"You learned about the ceremony?"
Viktor looked beside him and then said, "I will talk about that later. But for now, let’s leave this place. Someone is trying to break through my sound barrier."
Kobayashi then noticed the barrier around them after he mentioned it. He couldn’t even sense Viktor casting magic, so he said, "I’m glad that you’re my friend. You know so well about my weakness even though it’s been only a few hours since my arrival in Helsia."
Viktor chuckled and finished his drink.
’You might be a new friend of mine. But in the future, I’ve seen countless episodes where we are great companions. Of course, everyone is my enemy in the end.
I’ve read so many people’s futures with me. All of them will try to kill me in the oddest event. Even I have killed myself at the oddest event of the future where I lost everything.
But except for one person. There is only one person who will never kill me but will kill himself if needed. Hah...what am I going to do with my loyal knight?’
