Chapter 494: Chapter 494: Someone is Going to Deal with Ji Yang
Ji Yang received a call from Chu Shuyuan as soon as he got home.
"I’ve come to know about some matters that aren’t in your favor," Chu Shuyuan began.
"What happened?"
"Do you still remember Lu Shan?"
"Yes, of course. He was in the team with me, the publicity committee member from the county at that time, and I heard his family was from the city. They have connections in Capital City. Later on, there were some issues."
"Right, that’s the one. When Lu Shan had some trouble in your county, it affected his father. You might not know, but his father has a big brother working in the Capital’s departments. In the recent adjustments, he was transferred to South Dian Province Committee to serve as a vice governor, entering the team."
Ji Yang was somewhat surprised and, after thinking it over, said, "I don’t think I did anything to Lu Shan."
"Even though you didn’t do anything, Lu Shan did run into trouble, and it impacted some of the Lu Family’s arrangements."
Alright then!
Ji Yang was speechless; the political scene just worked like that. Sometimes it’s not about whether you offend people or not. A slight lapse and you can still manage to offend someone.
It seemed he had unintentionally offended the vice governor from the Lu Family.
"It’s not entirely about offending them, really," Chu Shuyuan said. "But that vice governor named you at the meeting, saying that you are capable and should participate in the mission to Myanmar, requesting that you be given key training. It looks like they are taking you seriously, but everybody knows the situation in Myanmar is complicated. One slip-up and there is even the risk to life. I can’t help you right now; it looks like this time you have to go."
"The meeting today was on this, and we are setting off the day after tomorrow."
"So soon?" Chu Shuyuan sounded clearly unaware of this and immediately became anxious.
"There’s no need to worry; after all, we are representing the government. The government there will also provide protection; nothing will happen."
"With the chaos there, there are diseases too. I’m genuinely worried about you. How about refusing to go?"
Chu Shuyuan knew this approach was definitely not feasible, yet mentioned it anyway.
Ji Yang chuckled, "Relax, I will certainly take good care of myself."
"Then, take extra care yourself."
"It’s fine."
Right after hanging up with Chu Shuyuan, he got a call from Sun Xiaoxiao, which was about the same matter. She didn’t have any way to help either, since their influence couldn’t reach South Dian at this time.
Ji Yang now had a clear picture of the situation. Hoping for a peaceful break was not possible; some people always have to stir up trouble.
After putting down the phone, Ji Yang felt that this trip might not be peaceful. What exactly was the person from the Lu Family thinking? Did they want to destroy him by sending him abroad?
Ji Yang felt that he really needed to prepare seriously.
"Secretary Ji, please take me with you on this trip," Su Zhiping called, knowing about Ji Yang’s impending overseas assignment.
"That’s not necessary, this is an organizational arrangement, and the people I’m taking are all pre-decided. It’s quite unlikely for you to go."
In this arrangement, aside from Ji Yang, the Investment Promotion Bureau had a few other male comrades, who were not grouped with Ji Yang but were placed in other people’s groups.
Ji Yang also couldn’t understand such an arrangement, but since it was an organizational arrangement, he had no objection.
When Ji Yang arrived at the office, Jiang Miao called him over.
"Mr. Ji Yang, this assignment from the higher-ups must be taken seriously. The team you are responsible for will go to a mountainous area. The situation in Myanmar is complex, and although military personnel have been dispatched for protection, you still need to be careful," Jiang Miao advised.
Ji Yang wasn’t sure if the concern was genuine or not, and could only take it as sincere. "Director Jiang, rest assured, I will handle this well."
"Yes, you are the team leader. Let them handle the specifics of the work. Once you take them there, you must bring them back safely. There can’t be any problems."
Ji Yang’s heart stiffened at this point; there was another issue—that the people he was taking couldn’t encounter any problems. If they did, the higher-ups would hold him accountable for the incident, so it wasn’t as if he really had no responsibilities.
"Director Jiang, everyone is aware of the situation. If something really does happen, I won’t have any solution." Ji Yang naturally made this clear; he’s not a nanny, how could he ensure there would be no issues.
Jiang Miao, of course, understood the situation and, after pondering for a while, said, "The situation you mentioned is a problem, but you still need to take good care of yourself. As for everyone else, I believe the host country’s personnel will also give serious protection."
Ji Yang replied, "We are just leading the team, not nannies. So, in dangerous circumstances, we indeed can’t look out for everyone."
"I will report your views to the superiors," said Jiang Miao.
Ji Yang had nothing more to say; as long as he had voiced his concerns, that was sufficient.
