Chapter 495: Chapter 495: Increase Difficulty
Ji Yang was reviewing documents related to the power station in his office when Jiang Miao entered with a grave expression.
"Director Jiang, what’s the matter?" Ji Yang had reported to Jiang Miao yesterday, who had mentioned he would relay some of Ji Yang’s ideas to his superiors, but his visit today was unexpected, and Ji Yang was unsure what had occurred.
"Comrade Ji Yang, the provincial government has studied some of the content you’ve shared and made some new decisions."
Ji Yang was also puzzled as he looked at the other party. He was supposed to leave tomorrow, so the sudden change in plans was baffling.
"What decision?"
"First is to further strengthen the security measures, ensuring no failures. All units must be equipped with security personnel who will accompany them."
"That’s a good thing, although, our unit’s security personnel aren’t exactly strong."
Jiang Miao nodded slightly, "We’ve raised this issue as well, but since our actions this time are not military, we can’t send troops. We have to rely on the host country to strengthen their work. Of course, we also need to send some of our security personnel. Do you have any candidates?"
"I just joined the Bureau of Commerce and am not familiar with the people here, so I’ll leave the arrangements to you."
Though he could have selected his own personnel, Ji Yang chose not to mention it.
"I’ve heard that your driver is originally from the military. Could he be one of them?"
"That can be arranged."
"Good, that’s one. Additionally, the leaders in the provincial committee know we have an office in Myanmar—that’s the Seventh Office. They think that since this department exists, it should not just be for show. Therefore, apart from essential personnel, the majority will need to follow."
Ji Yang was genuinely surprised by this decision, which explained Jiang Miao’s troubled expression.
Ji Yang was secretly pleased; many people in the Bureau were connected by relations, including some who were daughters or daughters-in-law of certain leaders. If something were to happen to them, it would be difficult to explain.
Of course, these were matters for Jiang Miao to worry about, as far as Ji Yang was concerned.
"Director Jiang, this could be tricky. Given the chaotic situation there, what could these people possibly achieve? I hope they don’t cause any troubles."
"Yes, I’m also concerned about that. Suddenly sending so many people, if something goes wrong, it’s undeniable we will be held responsible; no one will benefit from such an outcome."
"You should explain the situation to the leaders."
"How could I not have explained? The leaders are aware of the situation, but with the need for many personnel, and since we have such a unit, we are compelled to send them. Not just us—any department specifically dealing with that country must send people."
Ji Yang said in confusion, "Do we really need so many people?"
"The situation in that country is chaotic, many projects have been impacted. The higher-ups need a comprehensive survey to understand each project’s situation. Additionally, there have been issues of investment funds disappearing or being damaged. The total is not a small amount, and Capital City is placing a high priority on this."
No wonder!
Now Ji Yang understood. When issues garner attention from higher-ups, they aren’t trivial. If the matters were taken seriously by the Capital City, the province would naturally follow.
"What do we do then? I cannot be responsible if something goes wrong," Ji Yang remarked.
After saying this, Ji Yang further added, "Besides, once they are in that country, they will be spread across various groups, right? I can’t possibly follow each one of them?"
"The leaders of the provincial committee have also mentioned that each group will be responsible for its own."
Ji Yang secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If that was the case, his own responsibility would be lesser as long as he took good care of the few people he was in charge of.
Jiang Miao looked at Ji Yang and said, "You need to be careful yourself. From what I understand, the project you are going to is now in a conflict zone, and work there has actually halted."
"Why bother going then!" Ji Yang frowned.
"We need a comprehensive understanding of every project. That project has halted, but because communication has been cut off, the situation of the construction workers is unclear. One of your tasks is to clarify what’s happening there."
Ji Yang then looked at Jiang, wondering why such a task fell to someone like him.
"This is a decision from the organization; the government’s military will protect you."
Trouble!
Ji Yang had not expected the Lu Family to target him in this manner, nor did he know how many others might be against him. Now, the risk to himself had increased.
Of course, Ji Yang couldn’t refuse to go or disobey the organization’s directives. If he were charged with insubordination, he’d lose any chance of advancing. Those people probably wanted him to request not to go.
