Chapter 155: "Here we go again."

Nyx raised her head, just a few meters away from them, the guards formed a circle around Ace’s dead body.

"They found him already?" She asked, her voice a dead whisper.

Oberon grabbed her hand, and pulled her to a corner, "We can not let them see us yet," he growled, his brows furrowed.

She felt a lump in her throat.

Oberon furrowed his brows, rage and confusion flashed in his eyes, as he tried to comprehend what was going on.

"How did they find it? You hid it properly, did you not?" His breath hitched, his chest rising and falling along with his heavy breathing.

"I did.. I did!" She whimpered, clenching her fists till her knuckles turned white.

"This should not be happening," she gritted her teeth.

Oberon peeked his head, to see what they were doing, this time, Aegis was with them.

"How did this happen?" He asked with a low growl.

They all bowed their heads, no one could answer him.

"He was my second in command, how did this happen to him?" He asked again, his eyes darkening as his voice grew rougher.

"We.. we do not know your highness. Thane was the one who found him," one of them replied.

Aegis slowly clenched his fists, "Who dared to do this?" He took his words one by one, his voice gruff.

Nyx sank her hands into Oberon’s back, "what do we do? This was not the plan," she whispered, her face twisting with confusion.

He sighed, "Hm, I know.. right now, there is no way we could go on a fight with them. We are greatly outnumbered," his lips went down in a frown.

"What if we still lured them and still caused a fight?"

"Hm, that is not possible, right now, nothing can lure them into a fight."

"Ugh! My plans can not just fold!"

He placed a hand over her mouth, "they might hear you! Be calm," he snapped at her.

She huffed, muttering cursed under her breath, "we have to do something Oberon, what will happen if we just let this flop?"

"Who is there?" They heard a voice.

Her eyes widened as she went stiff, "Oh no!"

"Let us get out of here, we have re- strategize," he held her hand, leading her quickly through the back door.

"Who is that? Show yourself!" The voice came again, this time, more louder than the first time, "It would be better if you showed yourself!"

Nyx closed her eyes, "where did it just go wrong?"

"Let us get out of here first," he groaned, "if you were caught and killed, you would not be able to take your revenge."

She nodded, "fine," she muttered.

They got to the backdoor, and burst the doors open, taking covers in the shadows.

The guard reached the backdoor, but saw no one, he blinked, "Hm, who was that then?"

He looked around, "hm, we probably misheard," he said to himself, and walked back in.

Nyx breathed a sigh of relief, "now what do we do?"

He turned to look at her, "Re-strategize."

"What is the next way forward?" She threw her hands in the air, huffing.

He darted his eyes around, "If only there was a way we could get help even without having to move from here," he folded his arms.

"You know that is not possible," she tilted her head to the side.

"I know, I just wished so," he shook his head, and looked up at the sky.

Nyx bit her fingernails, "there should be a way, there is something we can do," she squinted her eyes in thought.

Her eyes brightened, "wait... They are all mourning Ace right? It would not be nice if I did not join them."

Now lips turned downwards, "what are you driving at?"

"I am just trying to say, what I if became your cover. You could start the conflict, even with them still mourning him."

"Hm, oh, you just have to get me close enough," he smirked.

"Exactly."

"Wait.. that could not work though," he rubbed his chin, "it is a fifty-fifty."

"Do you have any other plans in mind?" She folded her arms, creasing her brows, her lips turned downwards in disapproval."

"It would be better if Thorne was involved in this. Since our initial plan was to start discord among the guards, and that seems it will not work, we could involve Thorne instead."

"If we give Aegis the impression that Thorne is behind Ace’s death then.."

"The fight would be more complicated, and will tear his pack apart! Some elders would be in support of Thorne, some would support Aegis."

"Nice.. you are a smart girl," he ruffled her hair, a satisfied grin plastered on his face.

She growled, scowling at him but he did not flinch.

"How do we reach Thorne then?" He asked.

"Hm," she rubbed her chin, "I will send him a message," she nodded.

"Huh? Message? What will you tell him? That message may be the trap for your feet. A message is a very bad idea."

"Hm, I do not know where he lives," she shrugged.

"It would not be a bad thing if we searched for him," he sighed.

"That is way too long, we need to start whatever we want to do now. I think I know what I will do, I will have to pretend to be with them first."

"What?"

"Led me go join them in ’mourning’ Ace. I should be able to get Thorne’s address from one of them."

He nodded, "okay then, do whatever you please."

She grinned, her eyes wide with mischief, "I would also not mind causing a little trouble."

"Let us go then."

They came out of their hiding place, "Make sure everything you say, and do there is calculated. No one should suspect you for anything," he patted her shoulder.

She nodded, "Yes, I will make sure of that," she inhaled sharply.

"Okay then. Good luck with it," he patted her shoulder again, this time with a more warmer resolve.

"Here we go again," she muttered to herself, and walked back to the door.
