Chapter 151: Discord 2

"Do not forget where we all were before you suddenly became king! For once respect yourself!"

Aegis’s eyes widened, and he gasped, "Thorne.."

"Yes! You are being so arrogant these days! What is wrong with you? Just because we allowed you to be the king does not mean you have that right to tell us what to do, and how to do it!"

Aegis couldn’t speak for a moment, as his jaws slacked. Even his growling wolf seemed to be weakened by Thorne’s outburst.

"Did you just.."

"It does not matter if I had Nyx to myself or not, I can do what I want, when I want it, and how I want it! I only have you respect, but it seems you do not want to be respected. So be it then!"

Aegis was taken aback, he couldn’t speak, as he tried to take his words in.

"How dare you?" He whispered when he had finally found his voice.

"You should respect yourself Aegis. Stop being a tyrant. I can see why your father never wanted you to be king," he shook his head with disdain.

Aegis was pained by his words. His claws came out, and his fangs elongated. His limbs stretched and shortness, his muscles bulging and shifting beneath his skin.

His feet and hands transformed into paws. His body hair grew longer, and thicker. His face elongated into a snout, his nose flattening and his jaw extending into a powerful muzzle. His eyes glowed yellow in the dark, his pupils shrinking into vertical slits. A loud, angry, growl followed.

His clothes ripped and tore, unable to contain his expanding body. He had just transformed into a wolf.

He charged at Thorne with blinding rage. Thorne aware of the danger that followesd, dodged his blow as quickly as he could.

Aegis was fast, and he was not going to allow Thorne go Scot free.

Thorne tried to get out of the room, but Aegis wouldn’t let him. He tore at his clothes, but Thorne was able to keep his paws off him.

"Let go of me!" He cried, and ran to another part of the room, since Aegis was blocking the door.

Aegis leaped, and he landed on his back, his paws sinking into his back.

He cried out in pain, calling for help.

"Help!" He yelped, "he might kill me soon!"

Aegis tore at his skin, inflicting bad bruises all over him.

Some of the guards who heads Thorne’s cry, ran into the room.

They quickly rushed to where Aegis was, and tried to get him off Thorne.

With all their might, they were able to hold Aegis, and get him off Thorne.

"Go get a moonstone! Quick!" One of them shouted.

Quickly, one of them went to get a moonstone, while the rest of them tried to hold down Aegis, some of them quickly carried Aegis to see the doctor.

"He is badly injured."

"We should get the doctor quick."

The guard quickly retuned with the moonstone, he touched him with it, and Aegis began to quieten down. Soon, he fell asleep.

He began to contort, his limbs lengthening, and morphing into human hands, and legs. The fur began to recede, revealing a much more smoother and muscular skin.

His snout shortened, reforming into a strong, chiseled jawline. His once yellow eyes, had gone dark brown.

He was now on the floor, sleeping naked.

"Cover him up quickly."

One of them got a blanket, and covered him up. They carried him to the bed, allowing him to sleep peacefully.

"Thane, what happened?" The head of the guards asked the guard who had delivered the letter to Aegis.

He shrugged, "I.. do not know.. I sure do know he was angry when he read that letter."

"What letter?"

He kept quiet, thinking of what to say. Nyx had ordered him not to say anything, he wanted to say the truth, but Nyx’s "promise" was too juicy. He couldn’t resist.

"Well.. Thorne had sent him a letter.. through me."

"Letter? What letter? Where is it?"

Thane shrugged, "Why are you asking me? I do not know.. honestly.." he looked away.

The other guards were getting suspicious, "Is that so?"

"I did not do anything! I only delivered a message, what wrong did I do?" He tried to defend himself.

"Hmm, there is something about your story that is off. We should go to Ace, he would be able to get the truth from you."

They grabbed hold of him, "Hey! Let go! What did I do? I did nothing!"

They all pushed him out of the room, leading them to meet Ace.

Nyx watched them as they hoisted Thane to Ace’s abode. She smiled to herself satisfactorily.

"This is nicer than I thought," she chuckled, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Ha! I am just beginning," she buried her head in her palm, trying to stall the laughter that was forcing its way out.

"Poor Aegis.. first it is Thorne, next would be his elders, soon his all pack will be against him. Revenge coming soon," she grinned.

She turned on her heels, and walked away.

====

"Why did he attack Thorne?"

"I swear Ace! I do not know! Trust me!"

"You were the one who delivered the letter?" Ace squinted his eyes, which were boring holes in his skin as if that would get the truth out of him.

"Why are you all talking as if I should have read the letter? Should I read the king’s letter?"

Ace rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "well.. that.. is true. So there is no way we can know what had angered him."

"Can I go now?"

"Yes.. yes.. let him go," he waved his hand, and they released their grip on him.

Thane breathed heavily, trying to catch his breath.

"Let it go for now. When the king wakes up, I will talk with him. For now, let it go."

They murmured amongst themselves.

"Enough! You should do as I say. Let it go!" He scolded them.

Yes Ace," they grumbled, and began leaving the room one after the other.

Ace called Thane back, "Thane? Wait!"

Thane stopped on his tracks, he turned, "Ye- yes?"

"I want to speak with you."

Thane stepped forward, "What is it?"

"Thorne was the one who delivered the letter to you?"

He froze. He was trying so hard to dodge this particular question, why did everyone keep repeating it?

"Well.. yes."

He growled, "are you sure of what you are saying? I hope you are not lying?"

Thane’s heart skipped a beat, "What? N- no!" He said quickly.

Ace walked up to him. He stopped right in front of him, and leaned closer, "Hm... I see.. why do I feel you are lying?"

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead, "Ace.. I would not lie to you.. would I?" He gulped, shaking.

Ace smirked, "oh really?"

He nodded, "Ye- yes."

Ace grabbed his collar, "I can tell you are lying. Tell me who gave you that letter or else I am going to rip out your heart right here."

Thane’s eyes widened in disbelief, "Believe me.. I.. am telling the truth," he darted his eyes, trying to avoid Ace’s.

Ace held out his head, and his claws slowly elongated, "Since you are being so stubborn, how about I teach you a lesson?"

He swiped his claws across his face, and he yelled.

"Tell me who gave you that letter Thane! Now!"

"It was him!" Thane cried out.

"I know you are lying!" He slashed his face again with his claws.

"I am not! I am telling the truth! Please leave me alone!"

Ace was getting irked, "Just say the truth! Save yourself of all these drama!"

"That is what I have already said!"

Ace raised his hand again, this time he was targeting his chest, "Well.. since you have chosen to be so stubborn," he attempted a blow.

"Stop! Leave him alone!"

His hand stopped midway. They looked at the door, where Nyx stood, holding a cup of tea.

She walked towards them, "leave him alone, stop this," she said softly.

He let a groaning Thane go.

She walked up to Thane, "Are you okay?"

He nodded, "I am my lady."

She faced Ace, "Why were you doing that to him? What did he do to you?"

"His highness had a fight with Thorne earlier today, over a letter. The letter had enraged him so much, and I was just asking him who had delivered that letter because I know Thorne did not."

Nyx’s brows etched into a frown, "I would like you Leave us," she told Thane.

He nodded, and walked out of the room.

"Oh Ace," she placed a hand on his shoulder, "you should be more lenient sometimes. Stop being so brutal."

He frowned, "I only want the truth."

She handed him the cup, "here, drink something."

He drew his head backwards, "huh? Why are you being so kind to me?"

"Just take it. I can guess you are stressed out already."

He shrugged, and took it, drinking it in one big gulp.

He handed it back to her, "Thank you."

She nodded, waiting for the effects of the moonstone dust she had just put in it to work.

His eyes widened in shock as the effect of the moonstone dust began coursing through their veins. His vision blurred, and his body began to tremble, as if his very cells were rebelling against the foreign substance.

He tried to stand, but their legs buckled beneath them, sending them crashing to the ground. His muscles convulsed, causing their limbs to twitch and contort in unnatural ways.

A low, pained growl rumbled in his throat as he struggled to maintain control. He body began to shift, but the transformation was slow and agonizing, as if the poison was fighting against their natural instincts.

His skin itched and burned, feeling like it was on fire from the inside out. Their senses were overwhelmed, with sounds and smells becoming distorted and amplified.

His flashed with rage and agony, his mind racing to comprehend what was happening. He tried to speak, but their voice was barely a whisper, hoarse and strained from the effort.

"Wh- what did you put.. in it?!"

"Just moonstone dust.. do have a lovely life in the afterlife," she remarked sarcastically.

As the poison took hold, his body began to shut down, their strength and vitality seeping away. He collapsed, helpless and vulnerable, his mind clouded by the poison’s dark influence.

"Very good. One down, the rest to go."
