Chapter 80: What secrets is Noah keeping from me?

Selene POV

A few minutes ago.

"Married to Noah?" I narrowed by eyes at Xavier. "What do you mean? What secrets is Noah keeping from me?"

Xavier sighed heavily, as his hand ran the expanse of my shoulders "The Lycan King of the West recently opened their borders after so many years of living and trading by themselves and the first pack he met up with to do business was Noah... Moon Whisper Pack and since then, their business relationship has flourished,".

"Cut to the chase, Xavier," I groaned "You know I am not a patient person,">

"Well, I am guessing that the King Tanner, that’s the king from the west proposed that Noah should marry his daughter Princess Jade because I see no reason why she’d be sent here without the unusual formalities that they’re accustomed too. Besides, a month ago, your husband reached out to me seeking an alliance between our packs,".

"Wait!" I could feel my heart pounding with fear. I didn’t know if it was the scare that came from finding out that Noah could possibly be hiding something as massive as this from me and it pissed the hell out of me or the fact that I was truly scared about losing my marriage.

"If I get you correctly, King Tanner reached out to Noah and asked that he marries his daughter, then Noah reached out to you in return to ask for partnership. I don’t understand, was he going to accept the proposal? Is it what it means?

"No!" Xavier sighed "I think he was looking for a way to reject the proposal and cut off ties with the king of the West. In case you don’t know, we recently discovered a tone of mineral and natural resources in Moon Whisper and to say the truth, I think I understand why there’s been a lot of eyes on our pack. So, I think he asked for alliance so he can get what he gets from the King of the West through me,".

"But he was going to accept the marriage proposal?" My ears buzzed as I thought about the entire situation "That’s why she’s here... apparently she has been here for a while because she complained that she has been trying to reach out to Noah and he kept ignoring her, that he won’t return her calls or her messages,".

"I don’t think so, Selene... I need you to calm down for a minute," He said holding up a hand "If he has been ignoring her, it could mean that he may not have been in support of the entire fiasco but I don’t have all the details though. The thing is, part of the reason why I am here is for us to negotiate terms with the supply of resources that could build weapons – guns, armored tanks... that sort of thing and in return he would open your shipping shores to export products from Greyhound,".

"Still, he could have said something," I exhaled and began to pace the greenhouse "I promise you, if he had told me that this was the pickle he was in, I would have understood much better. Finding out things from strangers’ other than your partners is so ...".

I trailed off as my voice shook with "I don’t know that I did to Noah to deserve all of this. As if I am not going through enough already. He’s trying to make things more complicated and goddess knows that I’m getting fed up, the whole thing pisses me off. I am tired... I want to get out,".

"Get out?" Xavier’s eyes searched my face "What to you mean?"

"What if I am not meant for Noah? What if this was supposed to happen so we can finally realize that we’re not meant for each other in the first place," My eyes widened in realization "Wait! That’s it... I and Noah were not meant to be and I’m not even trying to..."

"Selene!" Xavier called out my name sharply "Take a deep breath and relax. This is just one marital crisis... It’s not enough reason for you to be singing divorce. You’ve gotta give it time. Life is not as smooth as we all want and until you hear from him, I think you shouldn’t just jump into conclusions,".

I pondered on his words with a frown creasing my brow. I could tell that my mind was made up already but I tried to think less about it. Turning to Xavier, I asked: "How about you, are you going to agree to this alliance behind my back as well,".

Xavier’s eyes widened as he stared at me. "I don’t owe you an explanation, Selene... you’re someone else’s wife and the mother of my children, yes but whatever alliance I choose to involve myself in is none of your business,".

"Really?" I heard myself scoff "Is this how you want it to be, Xavier? You should have mentioned it to me. This concerns me in a way and if you say you care as much as you do... a simple heads up would have sufficed. These days, I am always the last to know whatever is going on and it’s not fair,".

"What are you talking about?" He asked eyeing me strangely.

"I think the pattern is happening again. I am suffering the exact way I suffered in Greyhound. Here, they ignore me, do not offer me respects. Whenever I try to complain or try to show authority, I’ll be told to go back to my husband or to my pack. I honestly cannot understand the hatred because before I married Noah... everything was fine. A handful of people like me but not anymore,".

"Have you tried talking to Noah about this? I know he’s busy these days but surely, little things like this should be brought to his notice. The girls also told me about the bullying in school,".

"He cannot do anything, Xavier," I sighed "And I think the pattern is repeating. Just like how I wasn’t respected in Greyhound, I think the exact thing is happening here. Everyone takes me for granted. They barely say two words to me. These days, no one bothers to hide while gossiping, they do it in my presence, that’s why I want to end everything. This was a mistake. No man deserves me,".

"Selene, please," Xavier sighed "You don’t have to see things that way. I just want you to be a little positive. That’s all I’m asking for, basically and if you want, I can help you talk to Noah concerning the girls being bullied and you. But what you need to do right now is ot hear from him first,".

Present time

"W-What did you say?" Noah’s eyes widened with shock as his gaze flitted from me to Xavier standing behind me.

"I said, let’s get a divorce. I don’t want to stand in between you and your political gains. I am not that kind of person... so... if marrying Princess Jade will save the pack from calamity then I’m ready to do so,".

Noah studied me for a few seconds before his gaze moves back to Xavier who was standing quietly and then he growled. In quick strides, he crossed the room, his eyes burning with fury.

"You backstabbing piece of trash!’ He snarled fists clenched to his sides "Did you put her up to this? What have you been telling her?"

"He’s been telling me nothing," I walked towards them and pushed my way in between both men "You lied to me, Noah... you played me for a food and made me feel like I wasn’t adequate enough. Whatever have I done to you?"

"I was looking for a way to tell you," He blew hot... I wanted to tell you everything but somehow, I couldn’t bring myself to do so and I’m so sorry darling. I swear, I had no intention,".

"How about other situations that I’ve reported to you? How many times I’ve I told you that I’ve been bullied, insulted, ignored... no one treats me like a queen, Noah... look around you. Your Beta hates me with all of his existence. My children do not deserve to be treated like peasants... let’s just call it quits, I’m tired,".

"Selene, please darling," Noah cried and tried to hold me but I took some steps backwards. Hurt flashed in his eyes for a bit and I thought he was going to cry.

"I’m going to go," Xavier murmured and quietly slipped out of the room leaving us behind.

As soon as we were alone, Noah, came closer to me "I wasn’t planning on accepting the proposal. If anything, I’ve been trying to make contacts with other packs so we can trade. I was worried that you would freak out if I told you but I see now that I made a mistake and I’ll fix it, baby. I promise. Just give me a chance and I’ll fix it,".

"I don’t know, Noah... what about Brooke? You might solve Princess Jade’s situation but what about Brooke?"
