Chapter 75: I will become your mistress...

Noah POV

I saw as Xavier’s face fell and for a while, I felt so victorious watching how his eyes darted with confusion.

"This is not a competition, Noah," he said "This is about trying to make her not experience what she did the other time. Is it too much to ask for?"

"And who makes you her spokesperson? My wife and I am doing fine. You came here to see your children, feel free to spend all the time you want with them but as for Selene, she’s unavailable to you at the moment,".

"Why?" He questioned slowly "Are you afraid that I may take her from you?"?

"You couldn’t keep her with you despite doing seven years together and two children. Your wife was so eager to leave you and be with another man who she doesn’t love. Do you think you have won or you can take her when you want?" Noah taunted.

I watched as his fists curled with anger then without saying anything, he turned on his heels and walked out of the office.

As soon as he left, I relaxed visibly. He was right... but this was a final attempt to keep Selene to myself.

A few hours before

I waited until the door closed before I reached out to Selene, as I made to touch her, she flinched breaking my heart into pieces.

"Don’t be like this with my dear," I murmured "I’m sorry about the other night, I swear I was just frustrated,".

"It’s fine," she said quietly giving me a small smile "I pushed you to the wall,".

"Still, I couldn’t have forced you like that," I insisted and tried to reach for her but she took several steps backwards. "Stop running away from me, Selene," I said bitterly "I haven’t done anything to you,".

"You think?" a tear rolled down her cheeks "If I had known you’d be just like your nephew, I would have stayed with him or is it a family thing? Do men in your family get a kick out of abusing women and making them feel inferior?"

"I’m sorry," I sighed "Fine," I’ll make it up to you but you must promise me one thing," I said.

"What?"

"That you wouldn’t be in the same space as Xavier,".

"He’s the father of my children, you think I wouldn’t want to supervise him when he’s with the girls?"

"The girls will be fine. He cannot leave with them, there’s no need for you to be in the same space as him. I am trying to prevent what happened before with both of you. Now that you’re married, you should know that your place is with your husband and not your Ex...".

"He’s also the father of my children!" she screeched "You knew this before you insisted on marrying me. You knew I came with baggage and I would be in close contact with him all my life. You knew all of this, why are you acting like I’m trying to purposely push myself onto him,".

I saw the defiance in her eyes and just like Reid said, I need to control Selene and always make sure I am a step ahead of her.

"Then you leave me with no other choice. I am confining you within your room until I give an order,".

"Okay," she shrugged "I need to rest by the way. Just give the girls access to me anytime they want,".

I ran my hands through my hair, trying to still anger that was burning towards me. It didn’t make sense that I was getting pressured from all sides and the one person that should have been my peace and succor at this point was driving me crazy.

The princess from the West has arrived Moon Whisper and is currently lodged in a hotel. I didn’t, couldn’t let Selene know. Worse still, she has requested my presence thrice now but it’s difficult for me to leave the pack and go see her. I know that if I should do, everyone would find out and somehow, it’ll get to Selene’s ears.

There was a brief knock on the door before the door opened and Brooke entered the office dressed in a pink playsuit that leaves little to one’s imagination. I averted my gaze from hers as I grumbled.

"What do you want?"

"Did your wife ask you not to see me too?" she rolled her eyes "I hope she hasn’t forgotten that you’re the King of this pack and I am a loyal subject. That means, I should have access to you anytime regardless,".

"What do you want?" I asked her again, hating how Rio was yearning for her as she drew closer to us.

"I heard that we have visitors and you haven’t been home all day and I know for a fact too that your dear wife didn’t think to bring you breakfast, so I took the liberty to make you’re your favorite meal,".

She placed a pretty, handwoven basket on the coffee table and beckoned on me to come join her.

"Brooke," I said calmly "This is not going to work. I needed you a few years ago but you left me and now you’re back trying to win your way into my heart. It’s pretty useless because I already have a wife that I love so much and I intend for it to remain that way,".

Brooke threw her head backwards and laughed "Always straightforward, you still haven’t changed, Noah,".

I didn’t reply, continued giving her a blank stare.

"Fine, I think you’ve got the wrong idea about me, Noah. I know our breakup was messy and to this day I regret leaving that way but I am also aware that I cannot force you to like me back. I know you’re married and you love your wife but who says I cannot be friends with you? We used to be friends, remember?"

"You’re asking me to be friends with my Ex?" I scoffed "Do you know how disrespectful that sounds? Even though we won’t be doing anything, I cannot betray my wife like that. I’m sorry but, that won’t happen,".

"You’ve got to relax, jeez!" she rolled her eyes "Am not asking you to leave your wife... at least all I require is friendship but what will you do with Princess Jade... is Selene away that she’s about to have another woman as wife?"

I froze at the information.

Brooke gave me a wide grin, opened the basket and brought out a cup of ice-cream. Then, started scooping small quantities into her mouth as she stared at me.

"H-How do you know about that?" I asked rising from my desk as I approached her "Did you father tell you? How many others know?"

"Don’t worry, my father is too busy to be snitching around," she chuckled and then pulled out her phone.

She scrolled through it for a while, and then pointed it to my face. It was a conversation between her and Jade.

"So, apparently, I and Jade know each other from college. Went to the same school, had similar classes. She was the hot girl on campus and I also was. We’re not really what you’d call friends but we just help each other every now and again. So, a few days ago, she reached out and asked that I be her bridesmaid,".

She paused and took a bite from the muffin plates on the coffee table running her tongue around her lips.

"Of course," she continued "I was confused that she wanted to finally settle down and when I delved deeper, she told me she’s marrying no other person but Noah Carell, The Lycan King of Moon Whisper and I can tell you this for free, Jade is bent on marrying you. She has looked into you and is pleased with what she saw. As to whether she knows you’re married, I cannot tell you that but that won’t stop her. She always wants to own things,".

"Fuck!" I hissed and began pacing the room.

"Also," Brooke continued "She has already announced the wedding to a lot of the girls and there’s a big preparation underway. Everyone is waiting for a word from her and they’ll be on their merry way to Moon Whisper. Do you know what’s amazing, she’s announced it on every social media platform, even though she didn’t call your name but she gave out enough hints and soon, the paparazzi will pick that up,".

"Poor Selene," She shook her head "If only she knows what’s happening, she wouldn’t be trying to get revenge on me. Jade is worse than I am. I’ve already gone to the hotel to see her and I know she’ll set this place ablaze if she discovers that you like another woman. It’ll be chaotic, trust me,".

"Fuck!" I exclaimed again and ran to my desk to pick up my phone. As I tried to dial it, Brooke suddenly came up behind me and held my hand.

"There’s no amount of PR work what that will be effective at the moment but I can help you," she said with a sweet smile.

"Help me?" I turned my eyes to her.

"Yes," she nodded "I’ve known Jade and what’s she’s capable of. If you agree to my terms, then I’ll tell you one thing that you can do to get her off your back forever,".

"And... what do you want in return?"

"I’ll become your mistress,".
