Xavier’s POV

I had just stepped out of the shower trying to wipe off the worst of the water on my damp hair when I spotted Selene sprawled on my bed, eyes closed. I jumped in surprise causing her to open her eyes. She pushed herself into a sitting position when she was it was staring at me drowsily.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. The door was opened when I came and you were in the shower too, I didn’t want to make it too obvious. Also," she paused "I know, I promised to do dinner with you and the girls but my meeting with Noah took longer than expected, don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you all,".

"It’s fine!" I nodded vaguely aware that I had nothing on but my pajamas bottom. "I wasn’t expecting to see you in my room at this time," My eyes strayed to the clock on the wall "Are you sure it’s okay for you to be here right now?" I asked anxiously. I thought people gossiped in Greyhound but since I arrived here, I realized that the people here were dedicated gossips and the smallest of meetings could spark a lot of reactions and raise eyebrows too.

"Don’t worry," she gave me another drowsy smile, stifling a yawn behind her hand "I just need to leave before the pack house comes alive and busy in the morning. We’ll be fine. Also, most of the rooms in this quarter have back doors leading to the garden and I just confirmed yours is one of them. I could have gone to the garden for a morning stroll or anything, It’s one of my favourite hobbies here,".

I looked at her with confusion wondering what she was talking about. "Wait! Are you spending a night in my room? Like right here in the same room with me?"

She arched a brow towards me, lips pressed in disdain "Were you expecting me to lie beside you in the presence of everyone in the pack?" she asked "I’m here to make sure you heal and get at least half of your energy before you return. Remember Kragen said after four days if nothing is done, you might relapse. Or did you forget about it already? Are you even taking the medicine he brewed for you?"

"One question at a time, Selene," I chuckled "Yes, I am taking the medicine he brewed for me religiously and honestly, I wasn’t expecting we would go about it this way. I was a bit worried that Noah would not agree in the first place but now that he has agreed, will sleeping in my room be fine? I don’t want troubles especially now,".

"It’s fine, Xavier," she stifled another yawn "Listen, your life is at stake here and except you think you won’t be able to control your impulses around me," she gave me a meaningful look "Noah is aware and has given his approval so the earlier we do this, the better for us. We don’t have a lot of time. But if you feel uneasy about it and you don’t trust yourself, I could go back to my room until we come up with the best way to go about it,".

"Don’t say that, Selene!" I sighed and moved over to the wardrobe at the corner of the room to search for the shirt of the pyjamas. "I’m just trying to be careful right now. Noah is not in the best of moods these days and I know personally he’s been looking for ways to have me punished. This could also be a trap from him..."

"A trap?" Selene rolled her eyes "Stop being delusional Xavier. Noah is not a cruel person and he’s not one to go about setting people up just because he wants to punish them. He’s the King – Lycan King... His word is authority. He doesn’t need to explain the need to punish anyone he wants, so stop fretting and relax. But I think you’re least worried about Noah... it’s yourself you’re concerned about. If you have any doubts just like I said, we could always think of another way but keep in mind that you have just tomorrow,".

Maybe, that was what I was scared of. I still have wet dreams about Selene, having her next to my bed would definitely make me aroused but I needed her too. "Can I ask Lucius to come and stay with us. To make sure that nothing happens,".

If she wasn’t so tired, I’m sure she would have replied to me but she only nodded and told me she was feeling sleepy already. I watched as she slipped under the covers on the bed and a few seconds later, she was snoring quietly. She truly was tired. I was curious to find out what happened between her and Noah that made her this tired. Pulling my gaze away from her, I left my room and walked over to Lucius’s which was adjacent to mine. As I lifted my hand to knock, the door swung open.

One of the greatest things I valued between me and Lucius Alpha-Beta bond was how sensitive he was to my needs. He was always on alert, even right now, I could tell he had already fallen asleep.

"I’m sorry to wake you up but please, can you do me a favour?"

"If it’s about going with you to look for Selene, count me out," he said immediately. I already told you that ...".

"No, not that!" I stopped him midsentence "She already came to me and she’s in my room as we speak. She says she’s going to spend the night with me on the same bed of course and she has Noah’s permission but I’m worried that I might not be able to control myself around her. You know I haven’t been with any woman lately and I’m not sure I can hold out for long with her,".

"Wait!" he raised his hand to stop me "Are you saying Selene is in your room right now?" he asked.

"Yes!" I nodded "And she’s fallen fast asleep already.
