Noah POV

"That’s fine," I looked at Conrad calmly noticing how he was shuffling his feet, I could tell he was already uncomfortable with my presence and it made my heart soar. "So, what has been discussed so far in the meeting? By the way is this the same meeting you told me you wanted to hold that it was the reason why you asked all the Kings to gather here?"

His eyes darted from me to the rest of the people there and back to me. The Kings began to murmur amongst themselves until one of them spoke up. "That’s not what he told us,".

"Yes," The Lycan King to Night Fang agreed "He told us that his brother King Tanner was making a comeback and had chosen Moon Whisper since it’s closer to everyone there. When we arrived, he said he came by himself because his brother got caught up in something important and hence will not be coming now. So, we just assumed that he would come eventually,".

"This is confusing," I chuckled "He didn’t tell me that. It took my wife convincing me to let you all come here because Conrad came here without prior knowledge, lodged in one of my hotels and was trying to play smart. Then he comes and tells me that he has already informed you all to come here. I was mad and refused but I later consented,".

The whole place was quiet as all the Lycan Kings stared at Conrad whose head was lowered. I could see the confusion on everyone’s face as they stared. But I wasn’t interested in their reaction. I was more interested in how calm Conrad seemed to be. Usually, he should be trembling since he has been caught but he was quiet. My eyes hovered around the small compound, trying to spot something that seemed unusual but nothing seemed out of place.

I brought out my phone and tried to dial Kurtis’s number or send him a text but there was no network coverage in it. That was shocking. One of the things Moon Whisper could boast of was our network coverage. Every nook and cranny, both in the lower villages... there was network coverage. Then talk more about the pack house. Something was wrong somewhere.

Slowly, I could feel the tension seeping into every part of my body as I stared at my phone. The Lycans were talking loudly, reading out laws to a quiet Conrad. My eyes scanned the compound again, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. If only I could find a way to sneak out without raising an alarm and also to make sure he suspects that I know something. I remained quiet calculating my next move.

"Do you know how big your punishment would be, Conrad? This is the deception of the highest order. You bring us from our homes, our work and our pack all for a lie? What exactly were your intentions? What do you intend to achieve by doing this? Tell me are you working alone? Are the foxes in on this too?"

"The foxes?" I turned my attention to the Lycan that just spoke "What about the foxes?"

"Ah! I forgot Noah, you’ve been way too busy these days to know what’s going on. The foxes have been trying to gain dominance for a while now. They’ve been attacking smaller packs and recently, I heard they seized about 5 packs in the North and what is worse is they seemed to know what they’re doing. The right kind of medicines to use, the traps and everything and we’re suspecting that they may be working with insiders. Foxes are not too smart to pull off that kind of heist,".

"Let’s focus more on the kind of punishment that should be given to Conrad and not this," one of the Lycans said. "Noah, what do you think we should do about him? Not only did he...".

"Let’s leave it all now," I interrupted him shooting to my feet "I know there is a reason for that and like I said, let’s reschedule the meeting. Right now, there are urgent business I need to take care of. That being said, I’ll leave first," I said.

I gave the Lycans a reassuring smile and started moving towards the gate when a bullet wheezed past my ears missing me by a few inches. I froze as the empty shell of the bullet fell near my leg. My heart began to pound widely as my gaze flitted to the direction the bullet had come.

There was a building adjacent to where we currently were, I squinted closely and spotted the muzzle of a gun. Following that same line, I turned around and spotted three more snipers in the building surrounding us. This was an ambush. It wasn’t meant for me no doubt but for the other Lycan Kings but I walked into it of my free will.

The other Lycans, when they heard the gunshot, they stopped to the ground, trying to protect themselves. Controlling my emotions, I turned to Conrad whose face was up now and a smirk playing on his lips as he sauntered towards me "You shouldn’t have come, your majesty," he laughed "I was banking on using these ones here and exempting you but you walked in on your own accord, who am I to say No?"

"Spare me with that bullshit," I scoffed "What do you think you’re doing Conrad? There’s a level of disrespect that I can take but certainly not this. How dare you shoot a gun at me? How dare you?"

"C’mon Noah, he laughed "I know that you’re set in your ways but if I were you, I would start talking to me gently now. One word from me and a lot of things could happen. I know you don’t want that. For instance, with what I have planned now, you could lose your life and I could make your wife mine. With those long, curved, sexy legs, I know she’s a good fuck!"

The veins in my forehead popped out as anger swelled within me, I took a step forward, my hand folded into a blow as I tried to take a swing at him. He took a side step at the dying minute causing me to run headlong into the stacked box of drinks. It was too late for me to break my fall, so I crashed headlong into it.

Thousands of broken bottles pierced through my skin but I recovered immediately and turned to face him, still fuming with anger "Don’t you dare talk about my wife like that, Conrad. I can take anything from you but my wife is where I draw the line,".

"Oh please!" he rolled his eyes and walked up to me "Did you know that your wife was in the hotel that night I arrived? I don’t want to go into details but I took a peek at her and I can understand why you stole your nephew’s mate from him. She’s so beautiful in and out and also..." he trailed off giving me a known grin.

"Shut the fuck up!" I screamed and tried to lunge at him when another bullet was fired in the space between us causing me to retreat. He was trying to mess with my mind but I won’t let him.

"She left me a souvenir too," he said and from his jacket pulled out a black, lacy panties, dangling them in between us. I froze when I saw the panties, they were Selene’s. That night, after I picked her up from the hotel pack to the pack house, when I was trying to clean her up, she had on a blue pantie from the same brand that she was holding. That was how I knew.

"She had this one on that day and after we were done, she wore a blue pantie and gave this one to me something about making sure you do not suspect her or something in that line and she was so sweet. The way she slid on my ...".

I didn’t let the words finish as I flew into a rage and pounced on him. As I sailed in the air, I felt a bullet pierce through my arm but I didn’t mind. It wasn’t as painful as the ache in my heart as I pushed Conrad to the ground and started beating him.

As I punched and slapped, I could feel my frustration building up. How did he know she was wearing a blue pantie that day? The only way he could know was if they had actually...

I shook my head refusing to finish the thought. Selene would not betray me like that. It could all be a coincidence. While I was still on him, suddenly a strong pair of hands grabbed me and the next thing I saw was I was been lifted off Conrad. As soon as my feet touched the ground, a pair of handcuffs slipped around my wrist and my ankle leaving me on the ground.

With the help of the men that suddenly swarmed the place, Conrad wobbled to his feet.

"Fuck!" he spat out blood and a few of his teeth as he came to where I was lying on the ground and kicked me "I wanted to do this amicably but since you all do not like things being done like this, you leave me with no choice but to use this approach,".

"You have no right to treat us like this," one of the Lycans squirmed from where he was on the ground with handcuffs on him too and the others. Conrad’s men all had masks all over their faces, so it was difficult to tell who they were.

"Well, I know you Lycans are as clueless and stupid as ever. Can’t you see that this is a siege? Starting from this moment, you all seize to be Kings!"
