Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Someone

Cecilia’s guess wasn’t far off; it was the Fire Giants working together with Humans and Dwarves to take down the traitors who sided with the Evil Demons. The only issue was about the details—which were completely absent.

Humans are selfish, after all. It’s normal to hang back when it doesn’t concern oneself. If it were just to deal with the Prison Fire Villain, it wouldn’t have caused such a commotion or united the inherently contradictory races. Therefore, the core issue must involve multiple races.

So, what exactly happened?

Deep within the Iron Forging Hall, in front of the towering Prison Fire Villain who raised both hands, was a huge portal—clearly trying to harness the power of the volcano to open a gateway to the Nine Prisons.

Should the Prison Fire Villain succeed in opening the portal, evil devils would pour forth from the Nine Prisons, affecting Fire Giants, Humans, and Dwarves alike.

Sogran was the Prison Fire Villain leading the ritual.

He was also the first Fire Giant in the village to come into contact with a Great Devil from the Nine Prisons. Initially, as a Blacksmith, he only intended to learn forging knowledge from the Great Devil, and indeed he learned much, gradually rising to power in the village.

What things from a Devil could be obtained so easily? How could one not expect to pay a price?

When Sogran used Hell Iron and prison fire to forge a mighty Nail Head Hammer and smashed a slave to death, sending the slave’s soul to Aphnas, the first level of the Nine Prisons, he knew there was no turning back.

But so what? He didn’t need his soul anyway. Better give it all to the devils, and as for working as a Blacksmith for the devils after death, that would wait until he was dead.

As Sogran continued to serve the Great Devil, sending more victims’ souls to Aphnas, he found Purgatory Traits gradually appearing on his body. Horns began to form on his forehead, cloven hoofs grew on his feet, and he even sprouted a forked long tail.

He was loath to be discovered by others, to be driven out of the village, or even killed. So he started attempting to corrupt the other Fire Giants.

Even with the help of the Great Devil, the corruption plan wasn’t very successful. It took god knows how long to convince one, and then another—promises of war strategy and forging knowledge did little good. He began to proclaim slogans, vowing to help Fire Giants rise up the social ranks.

In fact, it wasn’t just a slogan; Sogran truly believed it. The caste system that ranked a giant based on arbitrary standards was utterly ridiculous.

Why should a successful Fire Giant Craftsman still rank lower than the poorest and most foolish Cloud Giant?

What do Cloud Giants do? They don’t fight or forge. They just indulge in pleasures, gamble, and arbitrarily demand others to scavenge treasures and art for them.

Sogran wanted to tell everyone that those damned times had changed.

Wait—

Was that some noise?

Sogran perked up his ears.

...

...

Leon had no idea he had gotten mixed up in such a conspiracy involving a Great Devil; now a Prison Fire Villain was trying to open a portal to the Nine Prisons... It’s inevitable to encounter ghosts when you take too many night walks, but to encounter ghosts on your first night walk is just sheer bad luck. The less wicked deeds one commits, the better.

But that’s a story for another time. For now, Leon was still excited, marveling at his own cleverness. With his Gathering Form and Scattering Energy ability, he had sneaked unnoticed into the Iron Forging Hall, stepping lightly as he walked inside, looking around as he went.

During the month he had helped the Evil Flame Fire Giant, Leon had gotten to know refined gold and had heard of Mithril. He wanted to find refined gold and Mithril to prepare for forging a weapon even more powerful than the Catastrophe Blade in the future.

Indeed, he had specifically instructed the Evil Flame Fire Giant when forging a sword to make it large enough to still be used when he grew from large to extra-large in size as a teenager. But no matter what, it wouldn’t be sufficient once he reached his giant adult size.

This wasn’t just a stroll; it had to be quick and decisive. Leon didn’t dawdle on the way and headed directly for the depths of the hall. In his Red Dragon Form, he could cover a lot of ground with one step. From afar, he saw a Fire Giant or, more accurately, a Prison Fire Villain ahead and was confused.

With such fierce fighting outside, why weren’t you helping? What were you doing hiding here?

And what was that enormous portal all about?

"Red Dragon, I knew you would come!"

Prison Fire Villain’s words truly gave Leon a start.

He was just bored of Molten Lava Lake and went to Lost Plateau for a look, accidentally discovered the volcano smoking, prepared to steal something on the sly, and it was all in someone’s calculations?

Leon could only think of Cecilia playing tricks, for his entire itinerary was arranged by her, otherwise he might not have come to Lost Plateau, and after getting lost there, the first to see the volcano smoking was the Green Dragon, followed by proposing that when the snipe and the clam grapple, it’s the fisherman who benefits, and finally using the excuse of being too weak to follow.

"Is the Green Dragon one of your people?" Leon asked with a frown, even after knowing it for so long, he still couldn’t trust the Green Dragon.

Hearing the words of the Red Dragon, Sogran was a little puzzled, Lost Plateau has Red Dragons, White Dragons, Silver Dragons, Brass Dragons, even Jade Dragons, but no Green Dragon, what Green Dragon, he stared and realized, saying, "You are not Angmog..."

Leon heaved a sigh of relief, it turns out the other party mistook him for another Red Dragon, there wasn’t a shocking conspiracy targeting him.

Leon reacted in an instant, seems like he still couldn’t relax, because although there wasn’t a shocking conspiracy targeting him, the other party was clearly prepared to deal with a Red Dragon, and that preparation to deal with him wouldn’t present any problem, he had inadvertently stepped into a minefield.

As a former Fire Giant, Sogran often dealt with Red Dragons, and he could tell Leon was just a young Red Dragon, only approaching adolescence, but with a rather large build.

Even if it was an adolescent Red Dragon, an adolescent Red Dragon wasn’t qualified for Sogran’s respect, he said without courtesy, "Little beast, scram now, unless you want me to chop off your head and make it into a specimen to decorate in the room."

If the Prison Fire Villain had been more polite, Leon might have left, not wanting to muddy the waters.

Prison Fire Villain’s words were really unpleasant to hear, Leon felt leaving in such a sorry state was a blow to his pride.

Leon thought for a moment, leaving a bit later wouldn’t be a problem, still unsure whether the Prison Fire Villain was just bluffing him, he was basically finding an excuse to convince himself, saying, "Who are you trying to scare? You can’t move because of the ritual, right... why don’t you send out whatever people are hiding here? Those Prison Fire Villains outside are almost dead. So, clearly, there’s no ambush."

"I was actually preparing it for Angmog, I thought he would definitely come over to stir the water, he’s a prime-aged Red Dragon. And those meddling Metal Dragons, I thought they would definitely come for the commotion..." Sogran said, "If you so wish to die, I will oblige you."

"Zaren!" Sogran shouted, "Kill that Red Dragon."

As the voice of the Prison Fire Villain fell, Leon turned his head toward the corner of the hall and saw a Hunting Demon lying in ambush there, also known as Orthon or Orton Demon.

It was a tall devil with Molten Rock Skin complexion, ugly and twisted appearance, wearing a simple armor decorated with skulls, a Purgatory Dagger at his waist - calling it a dagger it was actually the size of an ordinary person’s shortsword, and he even carried a huge Brass Crossbow on his back.

Pit Fiend is the unquestioned overlord among most devils, usually following the dukes and duchesses, serving them loyally, and considered a General among the Nine Prisons, Leon was temporarily not daring to provoke.

A mere Hunting Demon, Purgatory’s Bounty Hunters, standard Challenge Level 10, Leon didn’t care in the slightest, saying, "Are you calling that Hunting Demon to kill me?"

"You can see it?" Sogran furrowed his brows.

"Isn’t it just invisible hiding in the corner?" Leon in fact had noticed the Hunting Demon long ago, just didn’t care about it, "You’re counting on that to deal with a prime-aged Red Dragon? I think even dealing with an adolescent Red Dragon would be hard for him."

"Zaren is not an ordinary Hunting Demon." Sogran coldly smiled.

He had summoned the Hunting Demon to carry out assassinations on disobedient Fire Giants and it had always done well, now he felt reassured using it as a security measure.

"Can it beat a Pit Fiend? Can it beat an Ice Demon?" Leon was somewhat apprehensive upon hearing this.

"Can’t beat a Pit Fiend, those Blood Battle Generals are too strong, ordinary Ice Demons are beatable," Zaren came out and said, Hunting Demons are High-level Devils, highly intelligent, often able to speak several languages, and even telepathy, "A prime-aged Red Dragon outside I can’t beat, but here I can."

Leon looked around, the space in this hall wasn’t small, a prime-aged Red Dragon moving around wouldn’t be too problematic, but would inevitably face many restrictions, like the ceiling preventing flight, the huge pillars affecting movement, hiding behind them could avoid Flame Breath... Hunting Demons belong to long-range and quite agile, indeed they could conduct hit-and-run combat here against a prime-aged Red Dragon.

"As for a young Red Dragon like you, I don’t know how you grew so big or by what means you found me..." Zaren slowly said, "I could take on ten."

"Get ready, I am going to attack now." Zaren said as he picked up his Brass Crossbow, aiming at Leon’s head, then pulled the trigger.

Zaren made his move known beforehand, not concealing his intention to attack at all, he was already making it so easy, if Leon couldn’t dodge then it would be too preposterous, Leon with his greatly improved reflexes after Dan Formation, avoided the arrow simply by tilting his head.

Seeing Leon evade his attack, Zaren was taken aback that the clunky Red Dragon could dodge so nimbly, obviously stunned, he said, "You’re quite good, so five it’s probably my limit."

Leon was also dumbfounded, originally saying he could take on ten of him, now after seeing him dodge the attack, said he could take on five, it turns out the Hunting Demon had always been serious.
