Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 118: Going Home
Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Going Home
Cecilia was rather confident in herself; though a bit on the slender side, her body was well-proportioned and her scales quite beautiful. By dragon standards, she was absolutely filled with allure.
However, after waiting a full ten or so seconds, she still hadn’t received an affirmative response from the Red Dragon, and Cecilia began to worry. She carefully looked up, only able to see the Red Dragon’s chin. Shifting her head a little, she saw the Red Dragon’s face twisted in an expression.
What a joke?
She had thrown herself at him, and that still wasn’t good enough?
Powerful Red Dragons lay waste and plunder, conquering vast territories, then clever Green Dragons administer these lands, using their intelligence to keep everything orderly. Men conquer the world, then women conquer men. From this perspective, their partnership should be perfect, right?
Leon had no idea what Cecilia was thinking. If he had the ability to read minds and knew what the Green Dragon was plotting, he would have mocked her mercilessly.
Red Dragons lived according to their whims, and the very thought that a mere Green Dragon could control a Red Dragon was laughable. Fantasies are just that, fantasies, and eventually you have to return to reality. The combination of the Red and Green Dragon was destined not to work. Of course, he wasn’t a strict Red Dragon, so when it came to him, anything was possible.
Leon looked at Cecilia. He was sure she fancied him. Reflecting on the recent shift from Blue Dragon to Green Dragon, he felt like luck in love had been on his side. But even though he had completed the Foundation Establishment and laid a solid foundation for future Inner Core Dual Cultivation Method, he was still undeniably a young dragon, decades away from maturity.
"If you want to be my maid... you should call me ’master’, not ’brother’." Leon finally spoke, baring his teeth slightly, "Do not overstep your bounds."
Indeed, Green Dragons are perfect deceivers, manipulating masters of illusion, cunning by nature and meticulous in thought. But in the hierarchy of the Colorful Dragons, they rank only third, and no matter what, they can’t catch up to the Red Dragons, who are first. Not to mention that he was even more powerful than an average Red Dragon.
He could now easily overpower a newly adult Blue Dragon, and fighting an adult Green Dragon would only be a walk in the park.
Give him time, and as a young dragon, not even requiring the status of an adult Red Dragon, he would be able to rule the Material Plane. In such a scenario, why would he need to fear any Green Dragon, especially a skinny one that’s weaker than average?
Cecilia wanted to be his maid, but Leon didn’t really mind. He already had a host of evil creatures under his command; one more wouldn’t make a difference. Should she dare to harbor ill intentions and betray him, he could just pin her to the ground with one hand and roast her with a puff of Samadhi True Fire.
"Call you ’master’ in front of others, and ’brother’ in private?" Cecilia blinked.
Leon, staring at the Green Dragon, slowly said: "A normal young Green Dragon should be the master of Green Witches and Evil Ghosts, not the ally. It shows just how weak you are. It would be better if you replaced your transformation magic with something useful... I can protect you, but I expect you to be earnest, with no devious plans against me."
Upon hearing Leon’s words, Cecilia subconsciously shrank her neck, because she did harbor such thoughts... Leon was the Moonstone Dragon, and they could have collaborated to dominate the Primitive Forest. Now that Leon turned out to be a powerful Red Dragon, seeking protection under him was also a viable option.
After all is said and done, it was she who had turned traitor and killed the Green Witch, and even with the aid of Evil Ghosts, conquering the Elf Village and ruling the Primitive Forest would be difficult; she needed to think of other plans.
"I wouldn’t dare scheme against my master," replied Cecilia, at least for now stripped of any disorderly thoughts.
As a Green Dragon, she possessed a cunning mind, adept at stirring up conflict, then profiting from it. But in this supernatural world, schemes don’t take you far, because often a simple spell can unravel the most elaborate conspiracies.
Detect Thoughts allows you to read the thoughts of certain creatures, discovering what’s foremost in their mind.
Prophecy Skill allows you to contact a deity or divine envoy. You can ask about a specific person, event, or activity that will occur within seven days. While the answer won’t be precise, it will be a single word, a cryptic rhyme, or an omen.
Dead Communication Skill grants false life and intelligence to a corpse of your choice, allowing it to answer questions you pose, thus no murder can go undetected.
"So strong, so intelligent, my master..."
Cecilia gazed at Leon, finding that she really couldn’t read him. She couldn’t understand why a Red Dragon would have the scent of a Fairy, why a Red Dragon would turn into a human to cultivate in the Primitive Forest, or where a Red Dragon got a greatsword and looked clearly proficient with it...
Red Dragons are not brainless like the White Dragons, they’d use lower creatures as spies, messengers, and informants. But most Red Dragons prefer not to think too much, recruiting chaotic evil humanoids to serve them when needed, and if expectations are not met, they simply kill the leaders and declare their dominion, never knowing to play some tricks... Leon’s use of brain power was definitely on par with Green Dragons.
Cecilia’s words pleased Leon, and so this matter was agreeably settled.
The Sun hid behind the clouds, and the sunlight vanished.
The Evil Ghost had been standing to the side, wanting to leave but not daring to, barely even daring to scratch an itch. At this moment, it noticed that the conversation between the Red Dragon and Green Dragon had ended, and as they turned to look at it, it tensed up immediately.
"I remember you were the one who attacked me with that polearm just now," Leon said casually. He knew the Evil Ghost was skilled in magic, mastering Dark Skill, Invisibility Technique, Vaporized Form, among others. Yet none of those spells could retaliate against him or escape from the palm of his hand.
"I didn’t," the Evil Ghost tried to defend itself, not wanting to die yet.
Leon is willing to talk to the Evil Ghost instead of just blasting him with a Flame Breath, which shows that he doesn’t want to kill the Evil Ghost yet. Thinking this, Cecilia looks at the Evil Ghost, knowing it’s time to show her worth, and adds, "It’s not that you can’t, it’s that you don’t have the ability to do it. There’s a difference."
"But—" Cecilia paused, then continued, "The master is magnanimous, it’s not impossible for him to forgive you."
The Evil Ghost is not stupid; he can plot and scheme. It’s just that too much had happened today: first, there was infighting among his peers, the Green Dragon killed the Green Hag, and then a seemingly ordinary person suddenly turned into a powerful Red Dragon. The Master of the Mountains, the arrogant tyrant, actually went to the Primitive Forest to cultivate in seclusion... for a moment, he was bewildered and completely at a loss for words.
"When did you become so dumb?" Cecilia waited a few seconds. "Do I really need to spell it out for you?"
"Uh..." The Evil Ghost was still confused.
"Hurry up and bring out your gold and silver treasures." Cecilia said fiercely. "Also, you’ve worked with that old hag. There’s no way you don’t know where her lair is, right?"
"I know," the Evil Ghost finally caught on. "I have a rough idea where it is."
"Then lead us there quickly."
Leon glanced at the Green Dragon and suddenly realized that having a mouthpiece was quite useful. He thought of those important figures who all have a secretary, a maid, or something similar to handle all the trivial and bothersome matters, and said, "Hmm, Cecilia, I’m a bit tired. I’ll leave this matter to you."
"Master, leave it to me with confidence," Cecilia assured.
"Is one day enough?" Leon asked.
"Absolutely enough."
Leon stayed for a day and didn’t expect that Cecilia and the Evil Ghost wouldn’t run off; they brought back the witch’s treasure. It was just uncertain if Cecilia had played any tricks, as there was nothing in the treasure that caught Leon’s eye, but it was better than nothing.
Leon does what he says and lets the Evil Ghost go, then sums up his gains from this trip. The greatest gain was definitely completing his Foundation Establishment, followed by acquiring a Green Dragon Maid. It’s about time to leave.
"Where are we going?" Cecilia asked.
"Just follow me as I fly," Leon said. "The desert."
"Weren’t we heading for the mountains?" Cecilia asked, still thinking that Leon would settle in the mountains and then find a place to live underneath, in the forest.
"You can still leave now if you want," Leon felt he could make use of the Green Dragon but couldn’t bind her forever. "I promise you, whenever you no longer wish to serve, you can leave. We will part on good terms."
Cecilia wrinkled her nose and said, "There are oases in the desert."
"You’re my maid, you must serve me at all times," Leon laughed heartily. "Wherever I live, that’s where you’ll live. Do you think you can live in an oasis if I dwell by the Molten Lava Lake?"
Leon thought of the desert, and he thought of Tassera, wondering what Blue Dragon was doing now and if she had missed him over such a long time.
...
...
So what was Tassera doing?
Blue Dragon was eating, having finished a camel, then eating a cactus for a balanced diet of meat and vegetation.
After satisfying her hunger, she transformed into her human form and began to tidy up her study. First, she organized the papers on her desk, then rolled up all the scattered scrolls and piled them up, burning the waste paper with a snap of her fingers...
Tassera wanted to sort out her bookshelf properly, arranging the books she had acquired over the recent years from various sources by category, rather than just putting them all on one shelf... However, once she picked up a book, she couldn’t put it down, and naturally, the task of organizing the bookshelf failed again as she read for hours.
Tassera wanted to sleep, and before sleeping, she couldn’t help but let her thoughts wander. That one Red Dragon kept saying he’d be gone for a little while, but then he was gone for half a year. What kind of cultivation could he not do in the desert that he had to go far away from it, far away from her? It’s utterly ridiculous.
There’s only one reason a man would want to be far from a woman, and that is to find another woman. Tassera couldn’t remember where she read that, but she couldn’t help laughing.
Leon is a teenage dragon; he doesn’t have that ability, how could he possibly find another woman?
Even if he found another woman, it wouldn’t matter to her. Out of sight, out of mind. As long as he didn’t bring her in front of Tassie.
