Chapter 211: Chapter 207: He City, Night (Two in One)_2
"Okay!"
Qin Guanglin happily went over to grab the bowls and utensils Zhao Qing had stacked up. "Sister-in-law, take a break, I’ll do it. You can’t just sit there eating and drinking without doing anything..."
"..."
Zhao Qing exchanged a glance with He Shan, then quickly and neatly placed her chopsticks on top of her bowl, "Well, I’ll let you handle it then."
"It’s no trouble at all." Qin Guanglin picked up a stack of bowls and headed into the kitchen, his face beaming with a smile.
If he always did nothing, that would mean he was still a guest. Now that he could do some work and participate in the labor, it showed that their relationship had grown closer. He was actually eager to cook as well, but unfortunately, his culinary skills were not up to the task.
"It looks like you’ve been bullying him quite a bit." He Shan took a look at Qin Guanglin twirling happily off to the kitchen, then turned to He Fang.
"He Fang smirked smugly, snapped a toothpick in half and tossed it into the trash can, then clapped her hands and stood up. "Sister-in-law, you really need to bully my brother more. He doesn’t even clean up after eating. He’s getting lazier."
Zhao Qing raised her eyes and looked at her with a smile, "I can’t bear to do that."
"Keep it up, keep it up. I have a boyfriend now too, showing off doesn’t work on me anymore." He Fang frowned and waved her hands dismissively, then turned and ran to the kitchen.
Qin Guanglin was wiping the dishes with a cloth when He Fang sneaked in and gave him a peck on the cheek, startling him, "Why are you here?"
"Just rewarding you for your hard work."
He turned his head to glance outside and whispered, "Don’t you want to reward me with something else?"
"We can talk about that when we get back, don’t think about it now." He Fang rolled her eyes at him and gently squeezed his waist. "Be good for the next few days."
"I didn’t say anything... Let’s go back and sit for a bit; I should be heading back soon."
Qin Guanglin finished washing the dishes in his hand, wiped himself off casually, and returned to the living room with He Fang. He’s Daddy was sitting alone in a corner, sneakily nibbling on beans and slurping his liquor. He Fang pretended not to see him, letting him enjoy himself for a while, planning to go clean up for him when it was about time.
Zhao Qing sat on the couch fiddling with her phone, then suddenly frowned and turned to He Shan, "Why did you plant the tree by yourself? I wanted to save up energy and exchange it for a bigger one."
"What do you mean by yourself?"
"You did it without my consent. That’s sneaky."
"I watered the most, I have the right to do it. It’s a legitimate exercise of my right, not sneaky at all," He Shan casually said, tapping on her phone, "I think this one looks nicer."
"..."
Zhao Qing leaned against the couch, dissatisfied and silent. He Fang chuckled from the side, "Punch him. My brother deserves it."
"Go stand over there," He Shan glanced at He Fang and continued to play with his phone.
"That’s not right." After a moment of silence, Zhao Qing sat up and looked at him. "This activity isn’t divided ownership, it’s joint ownership, part of the marital property, which can’t be split, right?"
"Um... yeah." He Shan frowned.
"The disposition of jointly owned property requires the consent of all owners. A unilateral disposition is invalid, right?"
"Mm..."
He Shan was momentarily stunned, pursing his lips silently.
"Now you disposed of it however you wanted, and you still claim it was your right? What right do you have?"
"..." He Shan squirmed for a while, then checked his phone again, "...Okay, I’m sorry—I disposed of our jointly owned property without your consent, I apologize."
"Hmph, I accept your apology." Zhao Qing raised her eyebrows triumphantly, puffing out her breath refreshingly.
Punching and such are actions of the weak; she disdained to resort to physical means. A true strong person should defeat him in spirit.
Qin Guanglin sat aside, astonished, looking back and forth between the couple and then at He Fang.
What sort of immortal couple is this?
"I didn’t scare you, did I?" He Fang, long accustomed to such scenes, smirked and leaned close to Qin Guanglin to whisper, "If you dare turn into a jerk, they could effortlessly send you out naked."
Qin Guanglin felt a chill down his spine and quickly shook his head.
"I wouldn’t dare."
"Jointly or privately owned?"
"Yours, all yours, privately owned."
"Heh heh." He Fang laughed smugly, stealthily pecked his cheek, "Ours, just the two of us."
"Cough..." He Shan coughed lightly, displeased, "Cheng is still here."
"Cheng, did you see anything?" He Fang asked nonchalantly.
"I saw you gnawing at my uncle’s face, aunt. Are you trying to eat him up like a rabbit head?"
"See?" He Fang shrugged her shoulders at He Shan. "Even if he sees it, he wouldn’t understand."
Qin Guanglin shifted uncomfortably and moved a bit farther from her, "Well... nothing, I’ll be heading back now; it’s already dark..."
Being intimate at his girlfriend’s home always felt off, as if it was somewhat impolite, so he had been deliberately keeping some distance, even though He Fang would actively move closer.
Better to head back.
"It’s still early..." He Fang glanced at her watch, not wanting him to return alone so early, and stood up, suggesting, "Let’s go out for a walk; it’s pretty stuffy staying inside."
"Go on, you always tease Cheng all day, not even knowing how to be an aunt," He Shan shooed them away impatiently.
"Come back early," Zhao Qing instructed, "don’t wander around too late at night."
"Got it."
"I’ll make sure she gets back."
...
Once downstairs, Qin Guanglin obviously breathed a sigh of relief, "Can you be a bit more restrained at your house, you see those looks your brother and the others are giving me..."
"I can’t help it," He Fang said with a teasing smile and pecked him again, "Want to go for a run? Haven’t done it in two days."
"Let’s continue some other time when we’re back; I’m not familiar with the area in the dark."
"I’ll show you around."
After getting two milk teas to-go from a nearby store, they strolled in the night breeze, occasionally swapping sips under the street lights, their shadows merging together, symbolizing their close bond.
"Your dad talked to me about some things today, and I guess his attitude seems to be neither approving nor disapproving, which is good. It’s a positive start for the first visit."
"I’ve already pushed you to him; what can he disapprove of? Even if he’s not in favor, he has to be."
"Do you think he knows about us..."
"He can probably guess a bit, my brother definitely can. He even had my sister-in-law give me a lesson on the birds and the bees for a good half hour, sheesh..."
"When?"
"Last night, what did you think we were talking about in the room?" He Fang took a sip of her milk tea, looked up, and smiled at him, "Afraid I’d turn out like them."
"Uh... your brother is indeed quite impressive," Qin Guanglin admitted with respect for his potential future brother-in-law, "We shouldn’t follow their example."
"Definitely not."
He Fang swung their interlocked hands back and forth, nodding toward a roadside food stall, "Want to grab some more food?"
"No, I’m quite full from your house."
"Really?" He Fang suspected he was just being polite and hadn’t actually eaten enough.
"Really, didn’t you see me have two bowls?"
"The bowls at my house are small..."
"But I packed it in tight," Qin Guanglin winked at her, "I’m really full."
To avoid feeling hungry, he had pressed the rice down firmly with his spoon, and with plenty of dishes too, he truly was satiated.
"Alright, then let’s walk a bit more and then I’ll take you back to your hotel room to stay alone."
"I’m taking you back, not you taking me..."
Just then, Qin Guanglin suddenly stopped, spotting a group of five or six youths that looked drunk eyeing them. His heart skipped a beat, and he turned, saying, "Let’s leave, go back now."
Better to be cautious in an unfamiliar place.
"Dude, do you think I’m ugly or something?" a man with a choppy haircut called out to him, grinning as he came closer, "Why did you turn back on seeing me?"
"Don’t pay attention to him, let’s go fast," He Fang whispered, pulling Qin Guanglin to quicken their pace.
These antisocial youths loitering around drunk late at night were often trouble; no telling what kind of idle misbehavior they could get into.
As if it had all been planned, two garishly dressed young men appeared ahead, grinning at them.
