Time passed unnoticed in idle chatter, and even though both were reluctant to end the conversation, it was already after nine o’clock in the evening.

"Sorry. I just got a call; I have to attend a meeting at the division headquarters tomorrow! So I probably won’t be able to accompany you," he said.

"What?" An Hao felt utterly disappointed, "What about the day after tomorrow?"

"I don’t know. The vacation’s been canceled," Qin Jian said, feeling terrible seeing his wife’s disappointment, "How about I ask mom to go with you?"

"No way!" An Hao sat disheartened on the bed, looking at the full suitcase of clothes, feeling her eyes sting with the urge to cry.

"There, don’t cry," Qin Jian hurriedly embraced her, speaking softly to comfort her, "The place I wanted to take you isn’t far from here. Why don’t you go with mom first, and in a couple of days when I’m not busy, I’ll sneak over to see you, okay?"
