Chapter 497: Chapter 295 Hill Also Has Unlucky Times
William almost spat out his wine. He had intended to savor the fragrance of the fruit wine a bit longer, but now he hurriedly swallowed it, fearing he might feel the sensation of hiccups after decades.
He couldn’t help but look at Hill, who was muttering curses. Although the child perhaps thought he was sincerely blessing them.
William’s curiosity was piqued. He had long heard about how incredibly lucky Hill was, a guy living on Europe’s highest peak.
William decided that if anything significant happened, he must have the God of Time and Space keep a close watch on the Gate of the Divine Nation of the Elven God King, preferably with a 24-hour camera.
After all, the divine artifact used by the undead tribe was in the Divine Kingdom of the God of Time and Space, with a very high storage capacity.
This was a divine power server built by the God of Time and Space, mimicking the intelligence brain of the undead tribe’s world.
Hill suddenly craned his head, looking to the right front: "She really wants to go to the rear hall?"
William was stunned for a moment: "The passage is completely cut off. That corridor leads to the front porch of the main hall now."
Space-Time Magic was indeed useful! Hill looked at William with some envy. If he didn’t want to see someone, they would get lost for ages.
Hill soon saw the Elf Princess walking back into the hall from the front porch.
She looked gloomy as she glanced in Hill’s direction, then walked over.
Hill felt an itch in his hand, but William’s watchful eyes made him give up the impulse to undo the spell.
Druciya gracefully walked over alone, standing for a moment in front of Hill’s erected isolation shield. Realizing the mage inside had no interest in interacting, she playfully blinked her eyes, holding a fan in an enticing manner at the window.
Watching this elf princess striking a pose through the veils, both men fell into temporary silence.
"Has she considered you a backup lover?" William was astonished. "She knows you overheard her! Why would she think you’d take on an elf planning to seduce other men?"
"His Majesty the King, seems not too adapted to our world yet!" Hill said coldly, "She thinks I’m a member of the Saral family. By the common knowledge here, only royalty with the closest blood ties would have this high level of authority in the palace.
In the Saral royalty, only three Archmages exist; the youngest of them was determined not to possibly become a Magister.
They must have memorized the royal members’ information by heart, so it’s normal to guess wrong.
And for an Archmage unable to progress further, the favor of a legendary elf princess is exceptional, disregarding other issues.
It’s no secret that elves can make mages legendary without following the usual legendary path.
Though they’re weak enough to be killed by a few Magisters, they still live up to 3000 years.
His Majesty the King, look at that half-elf demigod Enniaris. Initially deemed the most useless legend, he was said never to become a demigod.
To gain the favor of the Elf Deity System, he ventured into the wilderness for over a hundred years, deceiving Virginia in the process. Unfortunately, he failed with his conspiracy against the Earth Bear.
Then he offered his wife to the Elven God King. According to elf tradition, the woman would part ways if she loved someone else.
However, he didn’t and left her an escape route.
As a reward, he finally became a demigod.
And that’s even with the longevity of elves!
Power and strength can make one overlook all deficiencies."
William couldn’t help scratching his head: "It’s not incomprehensible. In my world, some people’s will can resist such temptations. Of course, ordinary people indeed cannot."
William sighed: "I’ve been on top for so long, I’ve almost forgotten how ordinary people think. I need to pay more attention in the future; I mustn’t turn into the God of Nobility."
Hill couldn’t help but curl his lip. William dared to speak this boldly only because the God of Nobility completely blocked Saral’s side; otherwise, he’d have to eat his words eventually.
Just looking at the miserable state of Greenberg, one could gauge the breadth of the man’s heart.
What he needed most now was to heal and recuperate. The Noble Church suffered heavy losses too but still invested significant willpower in Greenberg, with no intent to bide their time before seeking revenge.
Hill and William didn’t mind watching the elf princess’s coquettish displays. Her goal was clear but aimed at the wrong person.
If she had focused on an Archmage from Saral, he might have fallen for it.
"Her primary intention is to silence me," Hill lazily reclined on the sofa, "If I stay silent and she fails to seduce His Majesty, she would likely marry someone close to the court, and an Archmage with spell-casting authority in the palace would be a fine choice.
Not wanting to marry the elf princess doesn’t mean the King of Saral isn’t open to having a princess lover.
Her many gestures imply that the unfortunate Archmage has a good chance to become her husband if he keeps quiet."
William observed for a long time without understanding: "How do you know? I thought you were like me?"
"Uncle Adrian told you, right? I’m indeed not very sensitive to these things." Hill sneered, "But he taught me all this! A mage’s memory won’t let me forget!
This princess didn’t think much of me, using universal hints.
She almost flung that fan away."
William scrutinized for a few moments: "Is this the fan language noble ladies often use?"
Yet he still didn’t comprehend: "What does it mean? Is this really used in court universally? Even by elves?"
"When the human nobility first emerged, they were valiant professionals. They had no such tricks, doing everything very straightforwardly.
They learned it all from elves. But nobles spread such things fast. Later on, humans refined it somewhat." Hill thought for a bit, then took a small pamphlet from his ring. "Here you go, Your Majesty, read it for fun! Uncle Adrian taught me all this basic noble knowledge when he stayed with me.
The Mental Sea of a legendary warlock ensures I forget nothing."
So, if any Legendary Mage claims a poor memory, they’re either feigning ignorance or cursed.
William happily picked up the pamphlet: "Adrian wrote this himself! He sure was thoughtful. Oh look, he even drew pictures! No wonder he received a comprehensive noble education.
Let’s not mention Spencer; he knows even less than I do. Why didn’t anyone teach me?"
Before William meddled with the undead tribe affair, he rarely attended court banquets to avoid the strife between Edward and Charles, meaning no proactive women approached him.
Back then, he was known to insist on becoming a Sky Knight before marrying. What woman would approach him?
Many people didn’t know if he planned to emulate Charles, who became many noblewomen’s nightmare before becoming a Sky Knight.
Charles being an invisible crown prince for many years had only a small number of great noble followers, much to his own fault.
Noblewomen attending court balls didn’t all seek high-status lovers; some simply gauged the crown prince’s attitude toward their family.
Charles was always a ruthless man, so William, rarely participating in court balls, was often treated similarly.
Later, when William’s status dramatically elevated, people no longer dared discuss such matters with him. Otherwise, as a king, he would have had cronies teaching him.
But William wasn’t just a king, he was also the Pope, the future deity.
Saral’s nobles maintained a facade of elegance before him. Even Spencer was kept at arm’s length by many.
Druciya frowned, halting her actions. As an elf princess, making these hints to a junior mage was beneath her status.
She coldly glanced at the unreceptive isolation spell, looked around, and leapt out of the window.
"Did you cut off the corridors outside too?" Hill couldn’t help standing up to check.
"Not until now." William replied blankly, unable to anticipate the audacity of the elf princess named Lia.
"In the future, Your Majesty can study fan language alongside the princess’s poses." Hill leisurely sat back on the sofa.
William looked up, amused, as an undead maid stealthily ran from a corner of the hall, peering out of the window.
"I just saw her filming across from here." Hill remarked slowly. "This undead lady has been quite attentive. Their forum will likely soon have a fan language tutorial collection."
William shook his head and stood up: "I better wrap up this tedious banquet soon! They’ve met who they needed to; the rest isn’t my concern.
Thankfully, no other country’s princess is this bold, but she’s setting a precedent. Sooner or later, others will follow suit."
Hill laughed, watching William leave directly from the corner.
The half-elf demigod had not approached but was watching from a distance, now with a wonderfully amusing expression.
As for Princess Druciya, who had just walked back in through the front door, she probably hadn’t noticed.
William indifferently bid everyone goodnight.
By tradition, the court banquet was nearing its end, wrapping up within an hour.
Those who found a match needed to quickly arrange their next meeting.
Hill fixed his attire, heading directly for the main hall door; it was time to leave.
As Natural Consciousness’ warning came through, Hill’s foot was already at the doorway.
"Hill! Watch out!" William’s voice echoed from behind.
The main hall doors suddenly turned into a portal.
