Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband -
Chapter 82: First Kiss
Chapter 82: First Kiss
The food tasted so delicious that Medeia wasn’t able to put down her utensils.
"Medeia," Lucian called to her.
She raised her face and suddenly a blinding light appeared before her eyes.
Click.
Medeia blinked in surprise, squinting as the bright flash faded from her vision. She moved her eyes to see Lucian holding an old Polaroid camera. Within seconds, the image slowly appeared.
"Is that a camera?" she asked in disbelief. "How long have you had that?"
Lucian chuckled softly, glancing at the developing photo in his hands before meeting Medeia’s eyes. "I got it from Richard," he said casually. "I’ve been taking pictures of you without your knowledge."
Medeia raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What? You’ve been secretly taking pictures of me?"
He took a mini album out of his pocket and handed it to Medeia. She opened it immediately and looked at a bunch of her pictures that she didn’t know existed.
Lucian had taken many moments of her, her laughing from a distance with Naomi, her sleeping in the car when they traveled, and there was even a picture of her arguing with Tilly.
How cuteb... but wait, didn’t that look like stalker behavior?
Oh, who cared? Lucian could stalk her every day and Medeia would still find it adorable.
"Unbelievable." Medeia turned the page. "You’ve only had this camera for a few days, but you’ve already taken so many pictures. Am I that pretty?"
"You are." Lucian answered casually, but he managed to make her cheeks blush.
"Well, then your face should be in this album too, because your handsome face needs to be memorize." Medeia grabbed the camera from his hand and took a snapshot of him.
When the picture came out of the Polaroid, Medeia gasped. She had taken the picture from a bad angle, but he still looked as handsome as ever!
Really ... Medeia would believe him if he said he was a model.
"Shall we take a picture together?" asked Medeia.
She wanted to experience taking a selfie with her boyfriend like in a romance novel, but since they didn’t have a phone, using a Polaroid wasn’t a bad choice either.
"How do you want to take it?" Lucian approached her. "Maybe we can put it on the table."
"No need." Medeia pulled him down to kneel beside her. She circled her hands around his neck, pushing his head until their cheeks touched.
Medeia held her breath, slowly moving her eyes toward him. They were so close that she might have stolen a kiss from him.
But it wouldn’t count as completing the mission if Lucian didn’t take the initiative.
The mission was really ridiculous.
"We can take it like this," Medeia muttered.
She positioned the Polaroid over their heads, angling it to capture both of their faces. Before she clicked the shutter, Lucian’s arm rested gently on her waist.
Click.
The flash momentarily illuminated their faces and Medeia blinked, trying to shake off the brightness. As the photo slid out of the camera, Lucian took it carefully and began to shake it slightly, watching as the image slowly developed.
Medeia leaned over his shoulder. "Let me see!"
The picture was a bit blurry because of the defect, but it still captured the joy in their faces.
After observing the picture further, Medeia noticed that Lucian’s eyes kept on her face all the time, as if he were worshipping her.
"Let me save this." Medeia kept the picture in her bag.
As the night wore on, they took more pictures until they ran out of paper films. They wandered around the mall, running from floor to floor.
For a moment, in the middle of a broken world, they created a small, perfect memory together.
When they reached the top floor, Lucian said, "I want to show you something."
It turned out Lucian took her to the movie theater. The projector and speakers were still working despite some minor defects, so they could watch the movie without problem.
"You fixed this too?"
Lucian chuckled. "No, not me. Vivienne loves to watch movies, so Richard makes sure this theater works well."
They sat in the middle row, the best place to see the big screen. The screen showed an old romance film, slightly grainy but still watchable.
In the dim light of the theater, Medeia couldn’t concentrate on the movie in front of her.
Her eyes kept wandering from the movie to Lucian’s face.
A movie theater was a perfect place to kiss, right?
Medeia knew about these things from the sinners. They told her that couples liked to go to the movies because they were looking for a dark place to make out.
She had held Lucian’s hand, leaned on his shoulder, but something was missing.
They hadn’t kissed, not even a peck on the cheek.
It wasn’t that she wanted to kiss him because of the mission.
She just wanted to kiss him because she wanted to.
Would it be all right if she kissed Lucian first? If it was a gentle kiss, the system wouldn’t count it as harassment, would it?
Maybe a peck on the cheek ... just to see his reaction.
Medeia brought her face closer to him, leaving the movie that was starting to have a big conflict.
Lucian suddenly turned his head to face her. "Do you—"
Medeia widened her eyes. Her lips accidentally touched Lucian’s lips instead of his cheeks.
Lucian seemed as stunned as she was, but he didn’t move. Time stood still between them, the sound of the movie fading into the background.
"I-I didn’t mean to!" Medeia immediately pulled her head back. "I-I just wanted to kiss your cheek-no! That’s not what I meant, I-"
Medeia was lost for words as Lucian leaned forward and kissed her lips softly.
She held her breath as Lucian’s lips pressed against hers. He pulled back slightly before kissing her lips again and again, as if he didn’t want to stop kissing her.
Medeia’s chest felt heavy and her heart was beating too fast. "Lu..."
Lucian pulled her closer, silencing her words with his lips. Each touch of his lips sent a warm, strange sensation through her body.
They were only kisses, but how could her body suddenly feel scorching hot?
