Medeia ignored the system announcement because her mind thought about Lucian’s words over and over again.

He asked me on a date?

Really?

Did she hear it wrong?

No, there was nothing wrong with her ears and she was sure she wasn’t dreaming after pinching her hand.

"Yes ..." Medeia was still confused, but she didn’t want to lose her chance to have a date with Lucian. "Do I have to change my clothes?"

Lucian smiled and led her to one of the clothes shops. "Celestine likes to fill the clothing stores with clothes every week for people to take. Maybe there’s something here you’ll like?"

Medeia’s jaw dropped as she entered the shop. The racks were filled with beautiful women’s clothing, dresses, jackets, shoes, and even bags.

It really felt like a normal clothing store, an expensive brand of clothing store to be exact.

"I can take whatever I want?" asked Medeia in disbelief.

Lucian smiled. "Of course, take as much as you want."

The corner of her mouth lifted so high that the grin could have rivaled the Cheshire Cat. "Don’t mind if I do!" she exclaimed, darting toward the racks like a kid in a candy store.

Medeia used to have hundreds of collections of pretty clothes and jewelry in Hell. That was why she felt so tormented by having to wear ugly clothes all the time.

Medeia ran her hands over a row of pastel tops, her hand immediately grabbing a light pink blouse with white embroidery along the neckline. She held it up and then turned to Lucian. "What do you think?"

Lucian smiled. "It’ll look good on you. Try it on."

Without hesitation, Medeia grabbed a few more clothes and disappeared into the dressing room. She looked at herself in the mirror, her excitement growing with each outfit she tried on.

The clothes made her feel beautiful again after so many weeks of wearing nothing but practical clothes for survival.

One by one, she emerged from the fitting room, showing off each piece to Lucian as if he were the one paying the bill. Each time she struck a dramatic pose, twirling or doing an exaggerated runway.

"Well?" she asked after stepping out in a light pink blouse and short white skirt, paired with a pink bandana, beige-heeled boots, and a small white bag slung over her shoulder. "What do you think?"

"Beautiful." Lucian’s emerald eyes scanned her from head to toe, then walked over to her. "As always, but right now ... you look truly stunning."

Medeia bit her lower lip, a little embarrassed by his praise. "I’ll wear these clothes then."

It never occurred to her that a demon queen would act like a teenager in love when standing in front of her human crush.

"You don’t want to take any more clothes?" Lucian asked.

"We can come back later." Medeia jumped up and held his arms. "I want to see the mall first."

Lucian chuckled and let her take his arm. "All right then. Let’s take a look around."

They strolled through the mall, hand in hand, the echo of their footsteps blending with the faint sound of pop music. Medeia’s eyes sparkled with curiosity as she pointed out various shops, some still stocked with remnants of the world before, others empty.

Her feet suddenly stopped walking when she saw a bookstore. The shelves were covered in dust, but that didn’t matter as long as they were filled with novels and other books.

She immediately rushed to the novel section and almost cried when she smelled the familiar scent of paper and ink. She pulled a novel from the shelf, hugged it tightly, and showed it to Lucian. "Can I take everything in here?"

"Of course, you can," Lucian leaned against the door and spoke in a warm tone. "Take whatever you want. Forget it, I’ll just tell Richard to give you these bookstores to you."

Medeia smiled broadly and clapped her hands, too excited by his answer.

If someone asked her what was the definition of heaven, then Medeia would answer confidently that Lucian was her heaven.

In Hell, she couldn’t let anyone see her weakness, she had to be strong to maintain her image as Queen of Hell. Sometimes she got tired of being strong and wanted to be spoiled by someone.

Unfortunately, her ex-husband was a bastard, so she hadn’t been able to fulfill this dream for more than thousands of years.

Lucian was the first person who made her feel safe like she could finally be herself. The way he always understood her, without her having to explain, were things she’d never experienced before.

In Hell, power was everything and vulnerability was weakness. But with Lucian, she didn’t feel the need to pretend.

Medeia then took ten more novels from the shelf, from the fluffy romance to the spicy one, and placed them on the cashier’s table. "Remind me to pick them up when we get back."

"I will." Lucian held her hand and led her to a small restaurant near the bookstore. The sign above the door was faded, but the restaurant looked surprisingly like it was still in business.

"What is this?" Medeia asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

Lucian opened the door and motioned for her to enter. "Your next surprise."

Medeia couldn’t believe her eyes as she entered the restaurant. In the midst of overturned furniture, a table was immaculately set with soft candlelight and a bouquet of fresh flowers in the center of the table.

How could Lucian find beautiful flowers in the middle of the apocalypse? Did he go into the forest just to get flowers for her?

Plates of food were already set on the table, and the delicious aroma filled the air. The dishes looked as if they had been carefully plated, making them look like they were in a fancy restaurant.

"You did all this?" she asked, her voice softer than usual.

Lucian smiled. "Well, I had some help from my cousins, but yes. I just want to take you to a fancy dinner."

Medeia bit her lip, trying to suppress the grin that wanted to take over her face. "You’re really like spoiling me, aren’t you?"

Lucian pulled out a chair for her. "You deserve it."
