Chapter 78: The Rightful Leader

"Miss Medeia has returned!" a villager announced to the others as she and the twins appeared in front of the gate, right in front of Nico’s impenetrable shield, even with teleportation.

Naomi immediately ran to the gate. "Hey, why didn’t you come back for two days? We thought something bad happened to you and we planned to catch up with you!"

Medeia waved her hand. "It’s a long story. Let us come inside first."

Nico gave them the way through the gate. As they stepped inside, Medeia noticed the unusual activity within the base. There were more people than usual bustling around the base.

"Is it just my imagination, or is the base getting more crowded?" asked Medeia, glancing at Naomi.

Naomi pointed to a group of unfamiliar faces standing near the tents. "They’re from Junk Garden. After making a deal with you and Lucian, they wanted to see the site before planning the construction."

Medeia narrowed her eyes. "So you just let strangers into the base?"

Naomi quickly raised her hands in defense. "No, of course not! They gave me a Junk Garden token first, and Matilda confirmed that they were indeed from the Junk Garden."

"Good." Medeia’s expression softened. "I almost hit you in the head for letting strangers in."

"Come on, I wasn’t born yesterday." She nudged Medeia’s arms. "I didn’t know Lucian and the leader of Junk Garden were cousins. He’s so handsome, but how can his cousin look like an old mop?"

Medeia furrowed her brow. "Who said Richard looked like an old mop?"

"Matilda and the girls call him that."

Poor Richard.

His bad reputation had been so deeply engraved in everyone’s hearts that they all imagined him to be a disgusting, perverted old man.

"I think he’s a good mop." Medeia patted Naomi on the shoulder, then went into the base. "How’s the crop?"

Naomi got excited after Medeia asked her about the crops. She pulled Medeai’s hands and led her to the farm. "Come on, you have to see for yourself."

Medeia waved to Tian and Ren before following Naomi. She had only been away from the base for two days, but some new things had suddenly appeared there.

As Medeia followed Naomi to the farm, her eyes caught sight of a modest building near the center of the base. It was a temporary church, hastily constructed from old wood and metal.

"When was this built?" Medeia asked, pointing to the church.

Naomi looked at the building. "Oh, that’s Sister Jeanne’s doing. She said the people wanted a place to pray again, so she asked them to build it together while you were gone. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s nice to have a church again."

"We can go there after." Naomi smiled. "Sister Jeanne is open to hearing our confessions, too."

"I’ll pass." Medeia shrugged. "Not a fan of religion."

The last time she woke up in a church, a spider monster destroyed it immediately. If she went into another one, who knew what bad things would happen?

"Here we are." Naomi spread her arms wide and showed off the farm. Rows of green sprouted from the ground, thriving under the makeshift irrigation system. "I found a lot of old books about farming in the base, so I tried a lot of methods to plant the seeds."

She had collected seeds from fruits and vegetables. "Some didn’t seem to sprout, and others died as soon as they grew. However, I learned to improve the soil with compost and to water them just enough without drowning them."

The quality of the seeds was no better than the packaged seeds Medeia had given her, but with her skill and patience, Naomi managed to make them grow.

Her explanation convinced Medeia that she should buy the good quality seeds from the system again for the junk garden.

The system was indeed a jerk.

It deliberately made the packaged seeds easier to plant than the seeds taken from the growing plants and fruits.

Medeia bent down to touch the green sprouts. "You’ve done a good job here."

The farm only lacked medicinal herbs. The dry medicinal herbs she found in the base could no longer grow, and they also needed permafrost soil to grow.

Perhaps Medeia could collect some of the medicinal herbs after she met Lucian.

"So what happened?" Naomi crouched down beside her as well. "What have you been doing the last two days? And where are Simon and Harry?"

Chief Eldric was surely interrogating Tian to find out his son’s whereabouts.

"In short, a bad guy sent Ren to a dangerous place, so I, Tian, and Lucian have to rescue him. While Harry and Simon stay at the Warstock." Medeia continued, "Oh, the Warstock is under our command now because Lucian has put the leader in jail."

Naomi raised her eyebrows, feeling overwhelmed with so much information in one explanation. "H-how did that happen?"

Medeia rolled her eyes. "He tried to kill my future husband, so of course he deserves to be in prison forever." She said, "I almost forgot something, from now on I’m the leader of the Red Star Alliance."

"Wait, what?" Naomi looked at her in disbelief. "Are we already discussing that role?"

"Discussing what?" Medeia patted her pants before standing up. "If it weren’t for me and Lucian, none of you would have the luxury of living in this heaven. Why should I give that role to others?"

Except for Lucian, no one had the right to be the leader of the Red Star Alliance.

Naomi also thought she was right about that part. Therefore, she would support Medeia with all her heart.

"Well, I have to go now," Medeia said as she walked away.

Naomi, "What are you going to do? Shouldn’t you rest first?"

"A leader is not someone who can sleep every day."

That was what she did in Hell.

Even though a demon didn’t need to sleep, the Demon Queen also needed time to relax for even a minute. Unfortunately, humans were becoming more rotten each day, so the demons in Hell had to work hard.

Medeia sighed. She truly hoped to be reborn in the body of a spoiled young lady who didn’t have to work to earn money and could read romance novels every day.

Well, a dream was just a dream after all.
