Blueprints?
That was such a useful item!
With the blueprints, Medeia didn’t have to think and draw the building plan from scratch.
Furthermore, she could impress Lucian by pretending to be a great architect.
"Hehe," she laughed at herself before closing her eyes and falling asleep.
In the morning, Matilda and Naomi had brought so many ugly clothes for her. But no matter how many times Medeia changed her clothes, it wasn’t enough to hide her beauty.
From baggy to shabby clothes, patched dresses, a bare face to smudges of dirt on her cheeks, none of it worked.
Matilda and Naomi, who helped her find ugly clothes, began to feel that Medeia’s beauty was out of the world. She could just wear a sack of potatoes and everyone could still see there was beauty underneath.
"Why do I even bother?" Medeia threw the clothes on the floor and rubbed her face. "No matter what I wear, a man with bad intentions will still attack me."
It was because the problem wasn’t her, but those horny men’s minds. If they had high integrity like Lucian, even if Medeia was naked, they wouldn’t dare put their dirty hands on her body.
But, Lucian’s standards were too high after all.
"You don’t understand." Matilda’s face was filled with disgust as she spoke about the leader of the Junk Garden. "Richard Black is the most disgusting, degenerate and ugly man alive. I’ve heard from Red Beard that as long as you’re a woman, Richard will immediately force you to warm his bed."
Fortunately, Richard had never set foot in the Stormclad base, so Matilda had never met him in person.
"Someone also said he had 10 wives, even before the apocalypse began."
Medeia knitted her eyebrows, that sounded more like gossip than truth. "Okay, he’s creepy. But would he steal another man’s wife?"
Matilda paused for a moment before saying, "I don’t know, but maybe? Isn’t it easy to steal a helpless man’s wife?"
"Then I’ll be safe," she said confidently, "My husband will break his arm if he touches me."
Naomi furrowed her brow. "Who? Since when are you married? Am I the only one who doesn’t know?"
Matilda leaned in and whispered, "It’s Mr. Lucian. She always said he is her husband."
Naomi scoffed at her, "Say someone who’s only in the hugging phase."
"Hey! We’re taking baby steps!" exclaimed Medeia.
She clicked her tongue and picked out an oversized black leather jacket, a white tank top, and black cargo pants.
"I’ll wear these." She decided to wear whatever she wanted because being ugly wasn’t an option.
After changing into her chosen outfit, Medeia stepped outside. Her eyes glanced at Lucian, who was casually leaning against the side of the jeep.
Lucian straightened when he saw her. "Ready to go?"
Medeia approached him. "Yes. Oh, by the way, Matilda said the leader of the Junk Garden is a hardcore pervert, so you have to pretend to be my possessive husband."
Lucian raised an eyebrow. "Possessive? Do I have to get angry every time you stare at other men?"
That sounded a little ridiculous.
If a man was that possessive, it might be better if Medeia gauged her eyeballs so she couldn’t see anymore.
"I guess?" She thought about it for a while and said, "Just ... stay close to me and look like you’re going to punch anyone who gets too friendly with me. That’s all."
Lucian chuckled softly. "I can do that. Should I cut off someone’s hand if they try to touch you?"
"That would be great, but let’s tone it down for now. We are going there to cooperate, not to start a war."
"Just break their hands, then." Lucian murmured, but Medeia could hear it.
Sometimes Medeia suspected that Lucian was a bit psychotic.
"Lucian! Miss Medeia! We are ready to go!" Simon tapped the water tank several times to get their attention.
Simon and Tian were responsible for preparing the water tanker and bringing it to the Junk Garden. The truck was loaded with 1,000 gallons of water, a lot of water for the apocalypse.
Lucian gave them a thumbs up as a sign that they would be leaving soon.
"Are you sure we’ll make it? There are only four of us," Simon asked as he got into the truck. He had been learning to drive for the past few days, so he volunteered to help.
On the other hand, Tian followed them to Junk Garden because he had drawn the short straw.
"I don’t know." Tian put the sunglasses on his eyes to avoid the sunlight. "If we die, I will haunt Ren for the rest of his life."
"Tian, you’re really vengeful." Simon nudged his elbow. "You’re the one who swapped your schedule with your brother."
Tian sighed deeply, adjusting himself in the passenger seat, his arms crossed as he leaned back. "His chance to survive without me is zero." He murmured, "Now shut up and wake me up when we arrive."
Simon started the engine as Lucian drove their car out of the base.
Medeia hung the mystical compass on the rearview mirror so Lucian could easily see the directions.
Junk Garden’s base was located in City H, or as people used to call it. After many of its citizens turned into the Lost, City H had been a dead city for many years before Richard used it as Junk Garden’s base.
As their car rolled into City H, the sight of ruined buildings and wrecked cars scattered everywhere.
Overgrown vines wrapped around the remains of buildings, and the streets, once full of life, were now eerily quiet.
"This city is no different than a ghost city." Medeia rolled down the window, breathing in the scent of dust and humidity. "At least moss can grow here."
