Chapter 430: Cravings

Even though Alexander was with Rain most of the time, it didn’t stop him from giving instructions and closely monitoring the situation.

He trusted William to handle things well, but knowing how cunning Carla was, he preferred to have a backup plan. She had already pulled too many stunts to escape the consequences of her actions, and he wasn’t about to let his guard down now.

"I’m sorry about this, Clifford. I know you’re busy with your honeymoon, but I couldn’t think of anyone better for the job," Alexander said apologetically over the phone.

"It’s fine. I would’ve stepped in even if you hadn’t called," Clifford replied without hesitation. "Anyone trying to harm Rain and her family is my enemy too. Thanks for keeping me updated. Don’t worry, I’ll intercept everything on my end and get back to you as soon as I have something."

The two men discussed the situation further before Alexander finally ended the call.

He remained on the balcony for some time. He still had a few more calls to make, but he didn’t want to wake Rain. As much as possible, he wanted to shield her from all of this, especially when it involved Tim and Carla.

Once he was done, he quietly stepped back inside their private suite. His gaze softened as he walked toward the bed, where Rain lay sleeping peacefully. A small smile tugged at his lips.

He hadn’t told her yet, not wanting to worry her unnecessarily, but fragments of his lost memories were starting to return. Tomorrow, he planned to see a doctor to ensure he was in good condition before sharing the good news with her.

Alexander sat on the bed and leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to Rain’s lips. "Thank you for not giving up on me," he murmured, a contented smile tugging at his lips.

Their journey together had been unexpected, full of twists and turns, yet somehow, everything had fallen into place. There had been challenges, moments of doubt, but the love they shared, and more importantly, their unwavering commitment to each other, had kept them strong.

Rain stirred, her lashes fluttering open as she gazed up at him sleepily. "You’re still awake?" she mumbled, her voice drowsy. Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer into a warm embrace.

"I’m sorry I woke you," he murmured against her hair.

She buried her face in the crook of his neck, her breath warm against his skin. "I woke up because I’m hungry," she admitted in a sleepy whisper. "Pull me up."

He chuckled softly before shifting her into his lap, cradling her effortlessly. "Hungry, huh? What do you want to eat at this hour?" he teased, knowing full well this wasn’t the first time she had woken up craving something.

Rain pouted, rubbing her eyes as she thought for a moment. "Something warm... maybe soup?"

Alexander glanced at the clock, it was well past midnight. "Soup? At this hour?" he asked, amused.

She nodded sleepily, snuggling closer. "Mmm-hmm... and maybe something a bit sweet taste on soup too."

"You’re really something, you know that?" He kissed the top of her head before calling room service. Rain grinned against his chest, feeling his warmth and steady heartbeat. "You love me anyway," she teased.

"I do," he admitted without hesitation.

A few minutes later, the soft knock at the door signaled the arrival of their late-night request. Alexander carefully shifted Rain off his lap and went to retrieve the tray. He set it down on the small table before returning to scoop her up effortlessly, carrying her to the couch.

She giggled. "I can walk, you know."

"I know," he said smugly, "but where’s the fun in that?"

He set her down gently and uncovered the dishes, hot pumpkin soup, fresh bread, and a slice of chocolate cake. Rain’s eyes lit up.

"This is perfect!" she exclaimed happily, picking up the spoon.

Alexander sat beside her, watching as she took her first bite. "You do have the strangest cravings," he mused.

Rain took a sip of the warm soup, sighing in satisfaction. "Mmm... this hits the spot." She dipped a piece of bread into the broth before taking a bite.

Alexander watched her with an affectionate smile. "You know, your cravings keep changing. First, it was all about sour soup, and now you suddenly want something sweet. Is our little one in there messing with your taste buds?" He rested a hand gently on her stomach, his touch warm and protective.

Rain chuckled, placing her hand over his. "I think so. One day it’s sour, the next day it’s sweet... our baby is already unpredictable."

Alexander smirked. "Just like you."

She playfully nudged him. "Hey! Are you saying I’m difficult?"

He laughed. "I’m saying you’re full of surprises, and I love that about you." His thumb gently stroked the back of her hand. "Do you think it’s a boy or a girl?"

Rain’s eyes sparkled as she placed a hand over her stomach, feeling the warmth of his palm against her. "Maybe... both," she whispered with a soft smile.

Alexander’s grin widened. "You mean two little surprises?" His voice was full of awe, as if he still couldn’t believe it.

She nodded. "The doctor said there are two sacs... We’re having twins, Alexander."

He let out a breathless chuckle, shaking his head in amazement. "Two babies in one shot. I still can’t wrap my head around it." His excitement was undeniable, and he couldn’t help but imagine two tiny versions of Rain, one just as fierce, the other just as gentle.

Rain bit her lip, watching the emotions flicker across his face. "We haven’t told anyone yet... I wanted to be sure everything was okay first."

He cupped her face, tilting her chin up so she could see the pure adoration in his eyes. "No matter what, we’re in this together. And when we tell them, it will be the best news ever."

She exhaled softly, leaning into his touch. "I hope they’re as excited as we are."

Alexander smirked. "Oh, they will be. But first, let’s focus on making sure their mom gets everything she craves." He reached for another bite of food and brought it to her lips. "Here. Our little ones need their strength."

Rain smiled, her heart full. "I can’t wait to meet them."

"Me neither," Alexander murmured, resting his forehead against hers. "But until then, I guess I’ll have to deal with your midnight cravings."

She giggled. "You love it."

"I love you," he corrected, before stealing a quick kiss.
