Chapter 72: Monstrous
Chapter 72: Monstrous
The Poisonous Swamp station was less of a settlement and more of a purgatory. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the land itself seemed to resent those who walked upon it.
Only warriors of Peak Iron rank or stronger could last more than a few hours here. Any weaker, and the swamp would claim them—if not the monsters, then the toxins in the air or the parasites lurking beneath the mud.
And if you wanted to venture out and farm stats crystals or skill crystals, you needed to at least have the power of Silver rank.
When it came to dealing with Two-headed Anacondas, not only did you need to have the power of at least Peak Silver rank, but also a complete team armed to the teeth.
Coming alone to the Two-headed Anaconda area was just suicidal.
The Two-headed Anaconda area was one of the most dangerous places beside the Poisonous Swamp station; very few teams of warriors with extremely strong capabilities would come to this region.
Dawn understood the risk. He just didn’t care.
To him, the threat of the Flowing Swamp organization was far worse than any beast lurking in this region. His hatred burned brighter than his fear. If it took a hundred anacondas to prepare him for what was coming, then so be it.
Dawn gripped the Original Wind Sword tightly, took a deep breath, and resolutely moved forward.
His figure cut through the misty fog like a hot knife cutting through butter.
The fiery cape fluttered like a banner of war, challenging all the abyssal monsters of the region.
Dawn looked at the fluttering cape behind him and sighed.
"This damned cape never lets me do things in peace."
After vigilantly traveling for a few kilometers, he officially entered the outer part of the Two-headed Anaconda Area and soon encountered Abyssal monsters.
Under a tree ahead were two yellow-headed fishing cats about 1.3 to 1.6 meters long. These two fishing cats had mouths full of terrifying sharp teeth. Unlike normal fishing cats, both of them had unusually large tails shining with great sheen.
"Iron-tailed big-toothed cats, huh?"
He immediately remembered the information about this monster.
Iron-tailed big-toothed cats were rare monsters, mostly at Peak Iron rank, possessing a simple skill: ’Steel Whip.’
Although they looked completely ordinary, there was something very special about these monsters.
Dawn’s eyes had narrowed to a dangerous degree as he looked around his surroundings.
These Iron-tailed big-toothed cats shared a symbiotic relationship with Two-headed Anacondas. Most of the time, two-headed anacondas swallowed their prey whole. As a result, there would be something which couldn’t be digested, for example, a treasure made from Divine metal. In such a situation, these cats would enter the Anaconda’s stomach to clean up the mess.
Dawn almost sneered. Even the ecosystem here was monstrous
His acquired skill Nether wraith blood sense was still active in his head, but it was useless as there were no Nether wraiths in this region.
Dawn realized just how important an investigative skill really was.
While Dawn was observing them, the two Iron-tailed big-toothed cats also noticed his presence by the fiery glow of the cape. Without hesitation, they bared their teeth and charged at him.
"They are really quite fast, huh!"
Dawn’s breathing slowed to a dangerous level, almost like an instinctual reaction. His ocean blue eyes locked onto the two Iron-tailed big-toothed cats. Original Wind was already raised in an attack posture, the purplish Aura of slaughter wrapping around its sharp edge.
Cats were already known to be highly agile and fast, and Iron-tailed big-toothed cats were not slow either. In just a moment, a faint mana fluctuation arose; the cats’ tails turned metallic silver-gray, becoming solid and metallic.
Skill: Steel Whip!
At this moment, the two Iron-tailed big-toothed cats performed somersaults in the air, their tails moving toward him like two divine hammers carrying unstoppable momentum.
Dawn didn’t move. Not yet. He let them think they had the advantage.
The moment they lunged, he struck.
A blur of motion—a flicker of steel.
His sword arced upward with surgical precision, severing the first cat’s throat before it could even register what had happened. The second, mid-attack, lashed its steel-infused tail straight at his chest
The second Iron-tailed big-toothed cat never expected Dawn to ignore its attack.
A flash of cold light and a spray of blood later, the first Iron-tailed big-toothed cat head flew upwards, without even a chance to scream.
At this time, the second Iron-tailed big-toothed cat’s attack also landed on his chest. The attack failed to achieve anything as his Suit had absorbed all the damage without transferring it to Dawn.
Seeing its attack ineffective and its companion dead, the Iron-tailed big-toothed cat meowed fiercely, baring its sharp teeth.
Meow!
Its feline eyes looked into the distance in desperation, as if waiting for someone or something.
Meow!
The Iron-tailed big-toothed cat cried out in desperation and charged at Dawn with force.
However, Dawn was already prepared. Seeing the Iron-tailed big-toothed cat bravely charging, the corner of his lips turned upward slightly, forming a small smile.
Sizzle!
Dawn’s eyes turned dangerously red like two burning embers.
The Iron-tailed big-toothed cat’s figure stiffened, its instinct screaming, warning it to escape.
At last, the cat managed to turn around, but the Iron-tailed big-toothed cat didn’t expect two flying spears emerging from Dawn’s eyes, piercing its back and coming out from its chest, hitting the swamp water.
Detecting the danger was one thing and evading it was another.
The wounded cat fell into the swampy water, almost drowning. Just as the swamp was about to swallow it whole, its body turned into particles flying into the distance.
Looking at this scene, Dawn cried out, "My stats crystal! No, come back, my stats crystal!"
Panicked, he turned to look in another direction only to find his first crystal had also been swallowed by the swamp.
He had fought for those.
The bitter frustration boiled in his chest, but he exhaled sharply, forcing himself to focus. Complaining wouldn’t bring them back.
There had to be a way to prevent this.
"Wait a minute... let me ask that bastard."
Dawn immediately asked Jack.
And indeed, as he had thought, there existed a solution for this problem.
The problems that Dawn faced weren’t something unique. Such situations were faced by almost every high ranker.
