Chapter 67: Backgrounds noise

"Kane, hold still, just a few more beast waves and you will be fine."

Mrs. Jenkins was standing on an elevated platform observing the small battlefield around her.

Each of her actions caused the battlefield to move left and right.

Dozens of newbies dressed in armor provided by Truth seeker organisation moved like headless chickens among the writhing snakes; each of these snakes was as big as an anaconda shown in horror movies back in Dawn’s previous life.

Today these newbies were brought to the battlefield by the Truth seeker organisation to power level them.

The horrifying snakes hissed as they eyed the tender newbies with a ruthless glint in their eyes.

"Arg!"

A newbie who was staring towards the sky in a daze was unable to react before a snake coiled around his body. In no time, the newbie’s face turned ugly; he felt as if all of his internal organs were going to burst at any moment.

"Help!"

With a heart filled with despair, he turned to look in Jenkins’ direction.

However, Mrs. Jenkins was too busy to pay attention to a random noob; her eyes strained with tension looking into the distance.

The snake tightened in a single, merciless jerk—bones cracked, flesh ruptured, and a sickening squelch echoed through the battlefield. A red mist burst into the air as the body collapsed into a heap of twisted limbs.

Today another newbie died before his journey could even begin.

No one paid attention to his death. Numerous tiny veins had popped in Mrs. Jenkins’ eyes like worms slowly writhing deeper; she, however, looked completely unaffected.

At some point, a beautiful smile appeared at the corner of her lips as she gazed at one particular newbie in the distance.

...

Kane moved through the battlefield like a slippery rat; the marshy soil seemed to be able to do nothing to stop his advances.

With a sword in hand, Kane moved like a divine sword saint riding a hurricane, cleaving through the tide of Marshy anacondas that dared to cross his path.

His sword flashed once more like a ray of divine light, and the snakes that dared to attack him split into two equal parts.

Puchi!

With a thud, the two equally cleaved body parts fell on the ground, splashing water everywhere.

Kane watched this scene with a ferocious look in his eyes.

Just at this time, he felt something moving toward him at fast speed.

Kane’s heartbeat suddenly came to a standstill.

Not just him, even Mrs. Jenkins seemed to have felt something and looked upwards.

"What is this...?"

The poisonous sky seemed to have lit up by a ball of fire moving through the sky at fast speed.

Witnessing this strange scene, the battlefield came to an abrupt stop, with all the newbies watching this strange scene.

After a moment of lapse.

Mrs. Jenkins quickly reacted like a seasoned warrior.

"Everyone quickly move away..."

Her words were like a clap of thunder on a loud clear day, forcing everyone to come out of their daydreaming.

In no time, everyone quickly disappeared; even the Marshy snakes seemed to have felt the danger as they too quickly escaped.

Diving into the water one after another and quickly escaping.

Kane held his breath, anticipating a gigantic explosion.

Under his watchful gaze, just as the fireball was about to hit the marshy surface, it came to an abrupt stop, revealing the figure of a short but heroic person exuding chaotic aura.

Their gazes unconsciously met; feeling the sharpness in Dawn’s gaze, Kane immediately wanted to turn his head away.

However, he gritted his teeth and persisted.

If the condition of the top performer was like this, then the situation of the rest of the noobs couldn’t even be imagined.

When the aura of slaughter unconsciously radiated by Dawn landed on their bodies, their eyes dilated to the back of their heads, and some even fainted, falling on the ground like sacks of potatoes.

Witnessing this scene, Mrs. Jenkins’ eyes narrowed dangerously.

"What is the meaning of this, Red-caped Demon?" Jenkins’ cold voice sliced through the air and hit Dawn’s face like a storm.

Tension immediately rose; the newbies and veterans who were able to remain standing watched this exchange with a strange look in their eyes.

After Dawn’s short fight with Flowing Swamp Organisation, he had become slightly famous in the city.

His notoriety spreading far and wide.

Dawn barely acknowledged Jenkins’ words. He didn’t spare her a glance, his gaze locked elsewhere, as if she were nothing more than an irritating background noise.

"Was I too late..?"

Just a moment when Dawn was contemplating his future course of action, he received a class mission in which he had to save a person; as he had nothing better to do, Dawn accepted the mission, but it appeared he was too late.

It was now that he noticed the strange gazes of the people surrounding him.

Dawn immediately felt something amiss; the eyes of all the people surrounding him were filled with strong greed, as if he was not a cold-blooded killer who killed without blinking his eyes but a wooden chest filled with gold coins.

The feelings immediately filled his heart with strong disgust.

Just at this time, the cold voice of Mrs. Jenkins rang once more.

This time it sounded a little forceful.

Although she appreciated Red-caped Demon’s talent, the way he completely ignored her words in front of her subordinates greatly humiliated her.

Mrs. Jenkins gritted her pearly white teeth, her face also turning red in anger.

Caught by surprise by the biting coldness, Dawn threw a cursory look in her direction and ignored her.

Such a haughty woman wasn’t worth paying attention to.

Dawn ignored her and focused his attention on Kane, the young man holding an iron sword soaked in the monster’s blood.

He felt as if his gaze had pierced through the curtain of time; once again, the figure of a lonely young man swinging his sword appeared in his mind.

"Ancestors’ aura..?"

However, in the next moment, Dawn shook his head.

He must be hallucinating; there was no way someone could match the aura of the ancestor.
