Chapter 68: Only Beauty and no brain
"Red Caped Demon—are you out of your mind?"
"To disregard all the rules and act like an animal, is this the only thing that you are capable of, you fucking lawless animal."
Mrs. Jenkins erupted, her body trembling like a volcano on the verge of an earth-shattering explosion. Mana surged around her, crackling through the air like an unseen storm.
Dawn had ignored her multiple times in the span of a few minutes. To Mrs. Jenkins, who was always the center of attention, this situation felt completely disregarding and humiliating.
Her words, filled with Gold rank mana, caused the surroundings to shake. Some newbies felt their eardrums shake as if they were about to explode.
Even Kane felt his heart shake as if he had been struck by a powerful force.
Hmmm? Dawn finally came out of his thoughts and looked in her direction with puzzlement.
His gaze flickered with mild amusement, as if watching a child throw a tantrum over spilled milk.
Of course, he had heard her words loud and clear from the start, but did he really have to respond to her words immediately?
Did she think he was her servant or what? Ready to wag his tail in front of her just at a single shout.
He was slightly annoyed by her attitude.
"Good. Good. Good."
The word left her lips like a slow, grinding knife. Her smile was anything but warm—it was the kind a predator wore before ripping its prey apart.
She could clearly tell Dawn didn’t care about her at all.
There was even a hint of open disdain in Dawn’s ocean blue eyes when he glanced in her direction.
"Did you really think just because the trash from the Flowing Swamp Organization allowed you to escape, you can do whatever you want?"
Mrs. Jenkins’ voice sounded slightly subdued, as if she was trying to control the rage in her heart.
Members of the Truth Seeker Organization who were familiar with her had already started to back away silently.
They could tell the boss was very angry and might unleash a storm at any moment.
Just some years ago, Mrs. Jenkins was known to have a violent temper. It was only when she became a high-ranking official did her tendencies to violently explode reduce.
Gulp!
Kane also swallowed his saliva while backing away. This was his first time seeing the somewhat perverted Mrs. Jenkins acting like this.
"Shut up, mad woman, only beauty and no brain, fucking fifty years old and acting like a child."
Dawn ruthlessly spat while glancing at her jiggly bosom in disdain. He was in no mood to entertain a clown.
With a roll of his eyes, he turned to leave.
Anyway, the poor guy that he was here to save was already dead, so there was no point in staying here any longer and wasting his time.
He gave one last look to the guy whose aura resembled his ancestor. He had to keep an eye on this guy... maybe in the future this guy might give him a big surprise.
Without another word, Dawn shot into the sky like a crimson comet, leaving behind a fiery trail that burned against the poisonous clouds.
"Stay here, you fucking midget!"
Jenkins finally exploded in anger. A shout filled with bottled rage sent the muddy waters around her flying into the distance.
Sadly, her words weren’t loud enough to reach Dawn’s ears. Maybe she should try a little harder, then Dawn might be able to hear her shout.
...
Dawn’s body drew a beautiful arc in mid-air and started to descend downwards.
Poisonous winds rushed past his face, lightly caressing his cheeks like a lover.
Dawn watched the scenery blur past him without blinking. In no time, the tiny Poisonous Swamp station grew bigger.
His body finally came to a standstill when he was just a few meters away from the ground.
While silently floating, Dawn focused inwards.
"Tell me where I should head next."
Immediately following his words, a voice came from inside.
"Ohh! You are here."
"Hmmm... Just move a few meters to the North and you will see a two-story building."
Dawn followed Jack’s instructions and soon found himself standing in front of a run-down mansion.
"Yeah, this is the place..." came the slightly pained voice of Jack from inside.
Hearing those words, Dawn grinned and quickened his pace, his body turning into a blur, leaving a couple of afterimages behind.
.....
Inside the "Great Universe is Within."
One of the walls had transformed to turn into a large 4K screen that displayed the scenes of Dawn walking inside the mansion filled with dirt and spiderwebs.
Jack watched the scene with a look of absolute despair. Never in his life did he imagine one day all of his savings, which he fought for with his life, would be taken by someone else, and that too right in front of his fucking eyes.
Huff!
Unable to watch any longer, he finally took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
There was nothing that he could do now.
Just at this time, Dawn’s voice responded in the space like a god, reverberating across the length and breadth of ’Great Universe is Within.’
"...Everything is in this box?"
Jack was forced to open his eyes and watch the despairing scene once more.
An old, worn-down wooden box was popped by Dawn from under the tiled floor.
With great difficulty, Jack nodded his head and said in an almost choking voice:
"Yeah... this is the box."
"Good."
.....
The air in the room was filled with dust particles. A little bit of sunlight was able to enter the room through cracked windows that lit up the room.
Without worrying about getting dirty, Dawn went down and pressed the lever.
Click!
With a satisfying click, the box opened, exposing the contents inside.
So many stat crystals and even some skill crystals lay silently in the box.
A grin slowly spread across Dawn’s lips.
"Jackpot."
Dawn’s eyes flashed with burning intensity, feeling as if he had almost won a lottery.
He completely let go of all restraint and quickly started crushing the crystals one by one.
[Soul power crystals absorbed x2]
[Soul power increased by +2]
[Physique increased by +4]
