Chapter 60: Siblings meeting together
Early morning.
Gentle morning rays of the sun entered the room through the half-opened window, lighting the room slightly.
The atmosphere in the room was cozy and bright. From time to time, a voice of the young woman would reverberate in the room, followed by the forceful laughter of a child.
"Younger brother, don’t be like this, or else the Elder sister will not love you anymore."
"Eat this Divine medicine quickly, it will strengthen your bones."
"Hear this, you have to wear this necklace all the time, it will protect you from evil spirits."
"I heard from the seniors of the sect..."
Elizabeth Skylar was a force of nature.
Her words tumbled out in an endless stream, a mix of teasing, lecturing, and pure affection.
She moved like a whirlwind, placing trinkets, adjusting Dawn’s clothes, and ruffling his hair—all while talking at lightning speed.
Her long, crimson hair cascaded past her shoulders like a river of fire, shifting with every exaggerated gesture. Bangs partially veiled her deep blue eyes—oceans brimming with untamed curiosity and unwavering love.
Right now, those eyes held only warmth as she practically drowned Dawn in gifts.
This young woman was none other than Dawn’s eldest sister, the firstborn of Theodore and Athena Skylar.
Dawn looked at his elder sister Elizabeth and sighed non-stop in his head, but outwardly he tried to act like an obedient younger brother.
He also felt a little amazed by his sister’s ability to take things out of thin air, he had counted in his heart she had taken no less than one hundred one thingswnd yet she showed no signs of stoping.
Around Dawn’s body lay scattered numerous odd-looking trinkets and some cute-looking clothes radiating powerful aura.
All of these items were the meeting gifts prepared by his elder sister Elizabeth.
Dawn couldn’t stop himself from feeling a little overwhelmed. Although he wasn’t that well-versed in human emotions, he could instinctively feel that his sister’s feelings for him were genuine.
Fiona stood silently in the corner, her fingers tightening around her sword’s hilt.
She shouldn’t feel this way. It was childish. Petty.
And yet, she couldn’t stop the slow burn in her chest as she watched Elizabeth shower Dawn with gifts and laughter.
It wasn’t hatred—it was longing. A hollow ache that whispered, That should have been me.
A warm family. A powerful lineage. Love that came without conditions.
Fiona exhaled sharply, forcing herself to look away.
’What am I doing? Getting jealous of a child... I need to focus.’
Some time had passed since Dawn had last been to the Eternal battlefield.
During this small period of time, both of his siblings had returned to the family.
He had expected cold indifference. A family of calculating, power-hungry warriors.
Instead... they were like this.
Dawn exhaled softly, fingers brushing against one of Elizabeth’s gifted trinkets.
He didn’t fully understand love. Nor he wanted to understand it, after all love wasn’t going to...
Just at this moment, the gate of the room opened and a young man walked inside.
Lucas Skylar, who just turned eighteen this month, looked like a cool and confident young man who could make everyone relaxed just by his presence. He was a natural-born leader.
Lucas watched his elder sister Elizabeth pampering the youngest of the three with all sorts of weird treasures and couldn’t stop himself from smacking his lips. His two blue eyes filled with vigor seemed to say you didn’t treat me like this when I was young.
Of course, Lucas could only internally complain; he didn’t dare to voice these thoughts out loud.
The eyes of everyone present, including Dawn, turned to the dashing young man with an inquisitive look in their eyes.
Wondering why he was here all of a sudden; didn’t he leave saying that he needed to train alone?
Dawn thought with his eyes narrowing into two slits.
However, Lucas opened his mouth to speak, and his words cleared Dawn’s doubt.
"Father has asked you to quickly get ready. Envoys from the Flying Sword Empire could be about to reach our city."
’Ahhh, so the envoys are finally here!!’ Dawn’s eyes flashed with understanding.
"Tch! Don’t disturb me... I am trying to spend some quality time with my younger brother."
"I have no time to deal with these envoys."
Elizabeth said with slight annoyance in her tone.
So what if there were envoys coming from the Flying Sword Empire; could they be more important than her younger brother?
Elizabeth didn’t care about envoys or whatnot.
Hearing her words, a forced smile appeared on Lucas’ face. Even after all these years, nothing seemed to have changed; his elder sister was still as stubborn as a rock.
He didn’t know why, but this scene filled Lucas’ heart with relief. He had thought she would change after leaving the family.
Elizabeth saw the foolish grin on Lucas’ face and plainly said:
"Little nose picker, why are you smiling like an idiot? Did you hit your head on a pole or something?"
As soon as he heard her words, Lucas’ face turned green as if someone had exposed his darkest secret.
He stealthily glanced in Dawn’s direction and sighed once he noticed that his younger brother didn’t seem to focus on her words.
Thankfully my dignity as a big brother is still intact.
In the next moment, he immediately rebuked in protest.
"Sister, don’t call me by that name. I am all grown up now, and yes, I wasn’t picking my nose at that time. It was just an insect that had entered inside it, so please stop calling me by that name."
Some years ago, Elizabeth had caught Lucas picking his nose, and ever since then she would tease him whenever she got the chance.
"Yeah, yeah, as you say, little N~nose picker."
Elizabeth calmly nodded at his words with an understanding expression on her face.
Witnessing this interaction, Fiona found it difficult to control her expression. It was only because of her immense willpower that she was able to control herself.
On the other hand, Dawn was unable to hold it any longer and let out a soft giggle.
Hearing the small giggle, both the elder siblings turned silent and turned their heads to look in Dawn’s direction.
Watching him giggling with a foolish smile on his face, the two elder siblings exchanged glances and smiled at the same time.
