Chapter 41: the Last dance
Suddenly, the darkness in front of his eyes twisted and distorted, and a few windows appeared before him.
"I knew it."
Hidden beneath the mask, a wide grin appeared on his face.
[Brave warrior, the threat of Nether Wraith’s king grows stronger, forcing you to make one ultimate choice.]
[1 - Quickly leave and abandon the members of Unity Awakeners Alliance, keeping the bigger picture in mind.
Reward - Two unique class skills and One Gold rank stat crystal.]
[2 - Realizing this might be your only chance to leave this place, you decided to take the risk for freedom.
Reward - One Unique class skill.]
"Does the absolute order want me to run away..." Dawn thought while choosing the second option.
Without hesitating, Dawn ignored the silent warning; according to him, the situation might not be that bad.
The choice was obvious – he didn’t want to be trapped in the Nether Wraith colony forever.
....
"What happened?"
Mira Silverfire muttered while looking at the Red-Caped Demon’s figure.
His iconic fiery-red cape burned behind him, filling her heart with strange confidence.
Although she had insisted on escaping this place, deep in her heart, Mira also wanted to fight and avenge her comrades.
And when she saw Red-Caped Demon, a strange sense of calm seemed to have emerged in her heart.
Her instinct told her Red-Caped might be able to do it – he might be able to defeat that beast.
A woman’s instinct was dangerous!!
Mira didn’t know why, maybe she was being delusional and utterly foolish, but she chose to believe her gut feeling.
She silently followed behind the demon who seemed to be the only source of light and warmth in this cold world.
Dawn continued to move ahead without caring about what the girl thought.
As he moved deeper, the darkness around them grew deeper and stronger like a black hole that seemed to swallow all light.
The fiery cape fluttered intensely, but its light seemed to have no effect on the darkness.
At this time, Mira, who had silently followed, opened her mouth.
"Stay alert, the Nether Wraith king is just ahead."
Her voice was filled with extreme warning.
Without looking back, Dawn nodded his head wordlessly.
Mira was too tense to care about his lack of response.
As they moved, the sound of air vibrating and ground shaking came from time to time.
"The leader is still alive!" Mira suddenly yelled in joy.
Listening to her words, the face of a stone-cold woman appeared in Dawn’s head.
He never thought that he would one day rescue that woman.
"Tch! Our grudge still hasn’t settled," Dawn clicked his tongue and thought. Although he was saving her but he wouldn’t let her go easily.
She would have to pay for trying to control him.
.....
Dawn’s steps halted as he finally reached the heart of the Nether Wraiths’ domain. The air grew heavy, dense with an ominous pressure that crushed down on his chest like a mountain.
In the distance, silver and darkness clashed against each other in mid-air. In a few minutes, they clashed dozens of times, appearing as if they were on par, but Dawn could feel the silver glow was slowing down.
"Stop resisting, woman, and I might grant you a painless death."
A sinister chuckle echoed in the cavern.
The two figures suddenly came to a stop, revealing their forms.
Dawn recognized the leader of Unity Awakeners at a glance, the woman’s almost seductress like face was dovoid of all color as if all the blood had been sucked out of her body. Looking at the woman’s condition, Dawn sighed. There were numerous gaping wounds all over her body oozing blood. However, before it could fall to the ground, the blood turned into numerous tiny particles of light and evaporated.
After assessing her situation, Dawn’s gaze shifted.
"Nether Wraith king."
In front of her, was a middle-aged man with ruthless and almost maddening glint in his eyes.
Suddenly, the eyes of the Unity Awakeners Alliance leader narrowed; she turned to look in Dawn’s direction – to be more specific, in Mira’s direction.
"Tch! How arrogant..." Nether Wraith’s king smiled in disdain. "To ignore this king’s presence."
The moment of carelessness cost her heavily. Before she could react, the darkness in the cave moved like a mighty wave and collapsed on her figure like a slap.
Mira, who was watching this scene, suddenly cried out, "Jasmine...!"
Boom!
Her words seemed to have no effect. Jasmine’s body flew out like a cannonball and struck the cave’s rough wall.
The wall immediately caved in with numerous spider web-like cracks spreading in all directions like waves.
Mira, ignoring everything, rushed in her direction; her reaction was surprising for Dane but for the members of the Unity Awakeners Alliance such a behaviour from Mira was expected, almost everyone knew how close the two of them were.
Spit!
Jasmine wiped the blood leaking from the corner of her mouth and looked at the figure running in her direction with burning anger in her cold eyes.
"Why did you come back? Why don’t you listen to me?"
As if reacting to Jasmine words, the silvery glow around her flickered intensely.
Listening to her blaming tone, Mira’s figure halted.
Suddenly she looked slightly guilty and muttered with a shaking tone.
"I... Red-Caped Demon..."
Jasmine seemed to have understood what Mira wanted to say, and her eyes flashed with disappointment.
Looking at the disappointment in Jasmine’s eyes, as if an arrow had pierced her heart, Mira’s figure immediately deflated.
"Do you really think he could defeat the king, whom even I struggled against?"
Jasmine sighed and said, although she didn’t know how Red-Caped Demon was able to escape her control, there wasn’t any chance he could defeat the Nether Wraiths king.
Listening to her leader’s words, Mira stayed silent.
Although she wanted to agree with Jasmine’s words, her instinct told her the Red-Capped Demon was different.
Looking at stubborn and firm look in Mira’s eyes, Jasmine’s face turned cold.
....
The Nether Wraiths King didn’t even glance at the figures of the two girls; his vertical pupils were focused on Dawn’s small figure.
Dawn took a deep breath and calmly met the King’s gaze. The pressure brought by the Nether Wraith’s king was immense.
The Nether Wraith king didn’t immediately attacks but scanned Dawn’s figure up and down before saying in a peculiar tone filled with hidden meaning.
"So, you finally come. Tell me, Abyssal Bearer—does it haunt you yet? The whisper in your dreams? The pull toward oblivion? It always starts like this... and it always ends the same."
At those words, Dawn’s expression immediately turned ugly.
"Could it be..... How did he know?"
