Chapter 40: Tragic situation of Unity Awakeners Alliance
Next Day.
Dawn sat in a cross-legged position, taking a deep breath to calm his heart.
In his hand was a glass bottle handed to him by Joseph yesterday.
"Huff!"
Suddenly his eyes split open. Without hesitating any longer, Dawn opened the bottle cap.
Immediately a strong alchemical smell wafted out of it. Dawn took a slight whiff and his eyes flashed with a sharp glint.
"Such high quality..." he muttered in joy. The elixir was undoubtedly of high quality.
Every single pore in his body seemed to cry out in joy; his heart was filled with a strong sense of anticipation.
Elixirs were normally divided into various categories depending on their potency and effectiveness, starting from Low, Mid, High, and finally the Superior grade.
Finding Superior grade elixir in Mesarith city was a pipe dream, and even getting one’s hands on High grade elixir was incredibly rare.
Dawn slowly brought the elixir close to his face and swallowed the whole thing in a single mouthful, then immediately sat down cross-legged.
His throat burned as the elixir released potent energies. Before the raging energies could begin to cause chaos inside his body, he started circulating his meditation techniques.
Dawn’s body started to turn scorching hot, and even the temperature in the room seemed to have considerably increased.
His brows were scrunched up together in intense focus. Wring! The air around him vibrated and the phantom of Ancestral Origin appeared behind him like a guardian.
With the appearance of the river, the temperature in the room immediately fell and Dawn’s eyebrows also relaxed.
His body let out a slight popping sound and the muscles all over his body writhed like a snake, before slowly contracting.
Dawn had once again grown taller by a few inches.
Just at this time, the air distorted and blue windows appeared in front of his vision.
[High grade Elixir of Body Nourishment consumed.]
[All stats increased by +2.]
[Warning! Some of your stats are already at the limits and can’t be increased.]
[Congratulations Brave warrior, you have reached the absolute limits of Iron grade.]
[Proceed with the rank up process?]
Dawn paused when he looked at the last window. Will it take time?
Immediately, as if to answer his question, another window popped up in front of him.
[Brave warrior, as you have already reached the limits of Iron Grade, the process will be instantaneous.]
He immediately sighed in relief but, thinking of something, he decided to wait.
....
Shadows moved like flood water; the cold damp walls of the Nether Wraiths colony were even more sinister than usual.
"I need to move fast," Dawn muttered as he silently floated deeper into the darkness. The fiery cape was fluttering wildly behind his back as if it was protecting Dawn from the resentful ghosts.
Suddenly, Dawn’s blue eyes hidden behind the mask narrowed dangerously – someone was moving closer to him.
Without even needing to think about acting, the air in front of his pupils started to distort as if it had been suddenly heated to a great degree.
While remaining vigilant, Dawn continued to stare ahead.
From the distance came the sound of rapid footsteps, as if someone was running for their life.
The wind howled like a resentful banshee and, in time, under Dawn’s watchful eyes, a figure drenched in crimson blood appeared in the distance.
"Mira Silverfire..."
With a single glance, Dawn immediately recognized her. If she was here, that would mean...?
"The attack of Unity Awakeners Alliance failed."
He immediately took a deep breath; the situation was bad. If such an elite unit failed to defeat the Nether Wraiths king, then there was no hope.
Some days ago, he had heard rumors: the Unity Awakeners Alliance was going to launch one final battle to defeat the Nether Wraiths king and escape.
Would he forever remain trapped in this colony?
Dawn took a deep breath to calm his heart.
"Hold on... don’t be too quick to judge. First understand the situation."
Mira had also noticed Dawn in the distance and quickly rushed in his direction.
"Red-Caped Demon, you..." Mira spoke through gritted teeth with some resentment in her tone.
"Why didn’t you join.... Sigh! Even if you had joined, the result would still be the same."
"Quickly escape while you still have the chance."
Mira had numerous things that she wanted to say and even blame Dawn for not joining the raid, but she realized it didn’t matter now.
Everything had been perfect; they had meticulously planned everything. If it wasn’t for that incident, they would have definitely slain the Nether Wraiths king.
"Damn! You plunderers, I will kill all of you one day, I swear," Mira hatefully spat.
Just one hour before, the plunderers had attacked their headquarters and killed most of the members.
As a result, their attack was brutally crushed by the Nether Wraiths king.
To honor the sacrifice of her comrades, she had to escape.
Contrary to expectations, Red-Caped Demon barely blinked his eyes and treated her words as thin air.
Dawn ignored her and continued to walk deeper into the distance.
After understanding the situation, the decision to fight the Nether Wraith’s king today became firm; today was the golden opportunity to end this farce once and for all.
As a result, the look in Dawn’s eyes became even more determined.
"Didn’t you hear my words? Are you deaf?"
Mira Silverfire’s face turned red in anger. Just now she had told him how terrible the situation was, and yet he still walked towards the tiger’s den.
"Turn back immediately, you bastard, don’t throw your life away!"
Mira quickly tried to catch up to him and said while fuming.
Dawn completely ignored her words while rolling his eyes. Did this woman think he was stupid or what?
She should be worried about herself. If the situation was really dangerous, he would just call it quits and leave.
"Could she also leave like me? I guess not." Dawn smirked while glancing at Mira who had fallen completely silent.
She had stopped persuading him some time ago, and the air around her had also changed.
