Chapter 36: Encountering another Abyss mark holder

Dawn hurriedly shook his head to deny this thought.

Surely she wouldn’t be so reckless and compromise his safety. After all, his parents had entrusted their precious son’s safety to her hands.

Just then, he heard her mutter in a low voice.

"Rage of the Demonic Barbarian."

Her voice sounded very light but seemed to be filled with indescribable strength. Hearing her words, Dawn felt an almost irresistible sense of madness envelop him.

His blood seemed to boil; just what sort of skill was this?

Dawn didn’t know if he was hallucinating or not, but after Fiona finished her words, a purple flame seemed to emerge from her body, quickly covering her entire form.

While Dawn was thinking, the three men holding the girl in their arms came to his side and hurriedly expressed their thanks.

They had long noticed the arrival of Dawn and Fiona, but earlier they didn’t care as the situation wasn’t as severe as it is now.

"The house of Bright Moon would like to express..."

The man holding the girl opened his mouth to say something, but Dawn quickly cut him off.

Internally, however, his eyes flashed with recognition—wasn’t the spiritual strengthening elixir supplied by the Bright Moon family?

Not just the Elixir, even the Divine Doctor who came to check up on him when he was young was from the Bright Moon family.

Dawn’s thoughts flashed like lightning, but he didn’t let them show on his face. On the surface, his expression remained unchanged; from the perspective of the three men, Dawn even looked slightly foolish.

"There is no need to be thankful; it is the duty of every member of the Skylar family to protect the innocent."

"Besides that, we have more important matters at hand."

The expression of the three men immediately changed upon hearing his introduction.

"Skylar family..." The man’s eyes flashed with understanding.

Dawn also smirked, realizing the man wasn’t stupid as he understood the hidden implications in his words.

He had used his family name so they wouldn’t try anything funny later. And given how their expressions had turned slightly solemn, his strategy seemed to have worked.

"So young and so intelligent." Joseph eyed the young boy in front of him and couldn’t stop himself from commenting internally.

Next, his eyes landed on the young miss, and he couldn’t stop himself from chuckling.

In the next moment, his gaze shifted from the young Skylar boy to the young woman whose figure was drenched in blood.

"Such strong spiritual force..." Unconsciously, Fiona seemed to be releasing spiritual waves that hit Joseph’s face like a slap.

Immediately Joseph’s expression turned dignified. This woman was definitely a talented Silver grade fighter; if he managed to play his cards right, the situation could still be saved from the worst.

After saying those words, Dawn solemnly glanced at the monster that had emerged from the black fog.

A monstrous python coiled before them, its ten-foot-long body as thick as a tree trunk. Its obsidian-black scales glossed with a toxic sheen, shifting under the light like liquid metal. Sickly green veins pulsed beneath its hide, leaking an unnatural energy.

Its eyes, twin orbs of molten gold, held no pupils—only hunger. Each breath exhaled a thick, acrid mist that curled through the air, eating away at the earth itself.

Saliva dripped from its fangs, hitting the ground with a sharp hiss. Where it landed, the soil melted into bubbling, green sludge.

The intense pressure radiated by the monster made it difficult for the people present to even breathe properly. The monster didn’t seem to be in a rush to attack as it silently eyed Joseph and his group with its yellow eyes.

The three men beside him swallowed hard, and one even cried out in despair.

"A peak Silver rank monster!"

"It’s over. No one can save us... cough, argh."

The man stopped midway and started to cough profusely. In no time, blood-red liquid mixed with crushed internal organs started to pour from the corner of his lips.

Seeing this scene, the faces of the remaining two turned extremely ugly.

Joseph, who was the eldest and most experienced, suddenly frowned as all the hairs on his body stood up.

With a horrified face, he quickly shouted and rushed to grab the young miss.

"Quick, everyone stop breathing... the air has turned poisonous!"

Dawn was the first to react, not even needing the old man’s warning; he had realized something was wrong.

So he immediately stopped breathing.

The main question on everyone’s mind was how the air could suddenly turn poisonous.

But this was not the main issue... They had to think of something fast, as the important thing was how they were going to finish the monster quickly since they couldn’t hold their breath forever.

Thinking about all these things, Dawn’s eyes flashed dangerously.

"Should I take action..." Dawn weighed his options. The sudden threat had pushed him to the edge; he was just a moment away from unleashing his real power.

But it was only with sheer will that he managed to stop himself.

He couldn’t expose himself now; being a genius was fine, but if he showed his true power, he wasn’t sure how his father would react.

And the second reason why he didn’t take action...

However, before he could continue thinking, a loud sound of something cutting through the air at high speed echoed.

Dawn turned his head up, only to witness the monstrous python’s gigantic tail move toward Fiona’s figure like a sledgehammer.

The air itself rippling from the sheer force. A deafening boom shattered the silence. Leaves were torn from branches like paper in a storm. The earth split open beneath Fiona as the impact sent a shockwave through the ground.

The ground beneath Dawn’s feet shook as if it had been hit by an earthquake.

Not to mention the Blood Moon family members; Dawn himself wasn’t able to react in time.

"Fiona!"

Dawn called out in worry as he tried to find Fiona’s figure amidst the smoke and dust flying in every direction.
