Chapter 872: Chapter 882: Falling into the Plan (Five Updates)
"Who are you, sir? Acting like this, are you not putting Lucao Kingdom in your eyes?" The Captain addressed Tang Zhong as soon as he appeared.
A large group of people surrounded Tang Zhong, enclosing him, the old man, and Xiao Jiu in the center.
The old man, who already looked distressed upon seeing several crew members approach, became even more terrified upon seeing the Captain. "Captain, we didn’t do it on purpose. We’ll never sit in your seats again. Please, spare us!"
After all, they were fishermen. They didn’t have the courage to stand up to these kinds of people.
But the Captain didn’t even glance their way, focusing solely on Tang Zhong.
Tang Zhong looked relaxed at the moment, not caring how the others perceived him.
He increasingly felt that something was wrong with the people on this ship. The Captain didn’t seem like a passenger ship captain at all—more like a General. And those crew members and passengers seemed even stranger.
"This old man is my uncle. You insulted him, so there’s no way I wouldn’t hit them!" Tang Zhong said.
The Captain appeared mildly startled by Tang Zhong’s words.
Someone nearby shouted, "Captain, don’t let this guy get away. He attacked our people; he should be handed over to the authorities!"
But the Captain clapped his hands to quiet the crowd, then said to Tang Zhong, "Well, we were wrong this time. It won’t happen again!"
The surrounding people froze at the Captain’s words; they hadn’t expected their Captain to say such a thing.
"Captain..."
"Alright, let’s not disturb the other passengers. Let’s go. This was just a farce, so let it end here now." After saying this, the Captain turned and left.
The people who had followed the Captain over, bristling with aggression, could only glare at Tang Zhong before turning to leave.
Soon, they exited the cabin.
The other passengers sat down again, acting as though nothing had happened moments ago.
As the Captain walked out of the cabin, his expression became inexplicably gloomy.
Someone beside him immediately asked, "Captain, are you really letting that Xuan Country man off the hook?"
"That guy is not simple. Don’t provoke him for now. We have a mission to complete this time, and the mission is more important. Once we’ve reached the North Sea, that guy’s end will come!" the Captain replied.
"Absolutely correct. Just hold out until the North Sea." The person next to him chuckled as well.
Back inside the room.
"Are you okay?" The old man held Xiao Jiu tightly as he asked Tang Zhong, his expression filled with deep worry.
"I’m fine," Tang Zhong replied.
"That was really close earlier. These crew members are usually vulgar, each one worse than the next in terms of manners. But today, it’s like their behavior has changed—they’ve all become so proper. That’s truly odd!" the old man remarked.
"You’re saying these people aren’t acting like their usual selves?" Tang Zhong asked.
"Exactly, they’re completely different!" the old man responded.
This made Tang Zhong begin to ponder. Earlier, judging by the demeanor of those crew members, it seemed unlikely they were ordinary sailors.
It seemed these people were up to something. He decided to wait and see.
The ship was getting closer and closer to the North Sea. Tang Zhong could see numerous islands in the distance, most of them deserted, with few inhabited.
Looking out the window, Tang Zhong observed the scene outside.
Everything outside was blanketed in fog—white and dense, blocking any view.
"That’s strange; why is there so much fog here? I didn’t notice this much fog when I left earlier this morning," the old man muttered, scratching his head.
"Also, this ship’s sailing direction is incorrect!" The old man added in astonishment.
"Could it be a mistake?" Tang Zhong asked.
"Absolutely impossible! I was born and raised in the North Sea, for nearly seventy years now. I know the flow of the sea here like the back of my hand. This ship is definitely headed the wrong way!" the old man asserted.
Tang Zhong furrowed his brow. Just then, he noticed the other passengers deliberately standing up, leaving the cabin, and gathering on the deck—as if assembling.
This made Tang Zhong even more suspicious.
Suddenly, his ears perked up as he caught some unusual sounds.
The sounds were coming from outside.
He heard people arguing noisily. With his exceptionally strong soul, he could easily perceive sounds within a hundred-meter radius.
What he was hearing now was not originating from this ship but from other ships.
Could it be there were other ships nearby?
If there were other ships here, it wouldn’t just be one or two; there must be a fleet.
Could it be that Lucao Kingdom’s vessels were intentionally gathering here?
Narrowing his eyes, Tang Zhong thought to himself: If that’s the case, then the Lucao Kingdom people must be up to something shady.
It was best to observe for now.
A thunderous rumbling sound echoed, and the massive metal ship suddenly jolted. It should be docking!
The old man heard the sound and exclaimed, "I know where this is! This is the North Sea Valley. Why would the ship come here? This is far off the usual route—a serious deviation. How could Lucao Kingdom’s sailors possibly make such a mistake? This is absolutely deliberate!"
"Perhaps it is intentional," Tang Zhong suggested.
There was definitely something suspicious about this Lucao Kingdom ship.
"What?" The old man’s face darkened. "The Captain said earlier he was letting us off the hook. Could it be that now he intends to kill us? These bastard dogs! All this because we sat in their seats? Is this necessary?"
"No... It’s not about that. I think there’s more to it. Grandpa, take Xiao Jiu and be careful. Don’t let yourselves get caught!" Tang Zhong advised.
He finally figured out earlier why the Captain seemed familiar—it was because he resembled a General. Those crew members appeared to be soldiers, and the passengers on the ship displayed uniform behavior, as if they could only be part of a military unit. In other words, aside from the three of them, the rest of the crew and passengers likely belonged to Lucao Kingdom’s military.
Moreover, he had picked up on the cacophony of noises earlier. Judging by the sounds, there were multiple ships nearby, meaning several military vessels from Lucao Kingdom were approaching.
Lucao Kingdom definitely had some unspeakable secrets here.
Sure enough, at that moment, shouting erupted from outside the cabin.
Soon, the Captain—now fully dressed like a General—strode in confidently.
Standing beside him were soldiers, each bluffing boldly as if they owned the place.
The Captain-General approached Tang Zhong, sneering coldly. "Well, kid, we meet again. Are you surprised?"
"Indeed, I’m surprised," Tang Zhong replied. With so many Lucao Kingdom soldiers gathered here, there had to be some hidden agenda. It was best for now to keep his identity concealed and continue observing.
