Chapter 57: Visiting Aunt In School
Unknowingly, it was already early October. Some companies had already started their holidays, and the sales department of "Shigella" also gave each employee four days off, though they were staggered.
Jake was lucky enough to get the first half of the holiday. He had originally planned to go out with Mia, but unexpectedly, the girl went on a trip with her parents. Since his future father-in-law and mother-in-law rarely had the time or mood to accompany Mia on vacation, Jake wasn’t the type to ruin their fun, so he resigned himself to sacrificing his own plans.
Two days ago, after parting ways with Manager Mina, the latter had also begun investigating the mole in the sales department before the holiday. Presumably, results would come soon.
On the first day of his holiday, Jake finally had some free time. After his usual workout, he cleaned his rented apartment, took a shower, and lay idly on his bed with nothing to do.
Bored, he scrolled through his phone. Mia was probably traveling abroad with her parents, and due to the time difference, she hadn’t replied to Jake.
As for Cabel and Lily, the two of them had gone completely silent since the holiday started. Who knew what they were up to?
His recent WhatsApp exchanges with Manager Mina had been frequent. For some reason, he had awkwardly "acknowledged" her as [Sister Min]. At the time, Jake had been embarrassed, but now that he thought about it, it didn’t feel so bad.
It was just that Jake not only had a young and beautiful girlfriend like Mia but also a charming and gentle older woman like his Little Aunt, not to mention his future mother-in-law, who was an absolute top-tier beauty.
For an ordinary man, being treated so warmly by Manager Mina—a mature yet youthful, wealthy, and sexy beauty—would have been enough to lose his mind. Falling into her tender embrace would only be a matter of time.
"Beep... beep..."
Only his Little Aunt’s WhatsApp messages kept coming one after another. As long as Jake responded, he would always receive an immediate reply from her. Even if she was in the middle of class, she would apologize for the delayed response afterward.
"Little Aunt is so good." Jake thought happily, especially remembering how she had gone from disliking him to accepting him, that gradual shift in her attitude.
"Respected Teacher Taylor, what are you doing?" Jake mischievously sent the greeting.
After a short while, he received his Little Aunt’s reply: "In a makeup class."
Following the brief message, his Little Aunt must have been in the middle of teaching, so she didn’t respond further.
"Oh right, Little Aunt’s MCB No. 12 School is a prestigious junior high. Holiday makeup classes are unavoidable. Ah, poor kids."
Jake sympathized with the students. Having gone through school himself, he understood the sweat and tears they shed all too well.
"Maybe I should go see Little Aunt. It’s been quite a few days since we last met."
After Thanksgiving, their relationship had progressed rapidly. Perhaps neither of them had realized it yet, but seeds of affection had been planted in each other’s hearts.
If not for his busy schedule and having to consider Mia, Jake would have visited his Little Aunt at her school long ago. Not only did he miss her, but he also felt a strange nostalgia for the school environment. He had been there once before because of Jian’s incident, so he still had the school’s navigation saved on his phone.
Glancing at the time and then at the sky outside, he saw that it was still early before his Little Aunt got off work.
Over the past few days, aside from that dinner with Manager Mina, there had been two or three colleague gatherings, as well as Lily’s belated treat. Now, Jake’s stomach was full of greasy restaurant food.
If he took his Little Aunt out to eat again, he wouldn’t be able to handle it. So, taking advantage of his free time, he went to a nearby market, bought some fresh ingredients, and prepared to cook a meal to bring to her.
Since joining "Shigella," a series of headaches had come one after another, as if tailor-made for Jake.
He hadn’t had many chances to cook, but his skills hadn’t dulled. Having honed them since his days in the orphanage kitchen, his culinary abilities were practically engraved in his bones.
Timing it perfectly, he heated the oil and started cooking. After two or three hours of work in the kitchen, a delicious, aromatic dinner was ready. He dug out a long-unused thermal lunchbox—something he had bought back when he worked at his previous company to save money by bringing his own meals.
After carefully washing it, he packed the food neatly. Since he hadn’t given his Little Aunt any advance notice, he worried she might have already arranged to eat at school, so he left early.
In the October autumn, the days were slightly shorter. By the time Jake arrived at MCB No. 12 School, the sky was already dim.
It happened to be dismissal time. Students in blue-and-white uniforms poured out of the school gates in groups. Not far from the entrance, numerous food stalls were crowded with students, filling the street with the mixed smells of various snacks.
Jake bypassed the students and headed straight for the security office.
Greeting the guard, he politely offered him a cigarette.
"Brother, I’m here to see someone."
The guard, swayed by the cigarette, replied casually, "Who? You look unfamiliar. Strangers aren’t allowed in MCB."
Jake understood perfectly. Smiling, he handed over the entire pack of cigarettes and said, "Brother, please help me out. I’m here to see a teacher named Taylor. I’m bringing her dinner."
He laid everything out clearly at once, emphasizing that he wasn’t some random person but a friend of the school’s staff.
This was the skill of a salesman—reading people and adapting.
The guard’s shrewd little eyes swept over the bustling crowd of students. When no one was looking, he discreetly pocketed the cigarettes. Hearing Jake’s explanation, his attitude shifted from cold to friendly.
"Teacher Taylor? You’re Teacher Taylor’s family?"
Teacher Taylor, that peerless beautiful mature woman, was famous throughout the school. There wasn’t a man who didn’t secretly admire her.
The guard might not know other teachers, but he was extremely familiar with Teacher Taylor. Sometimes, when handling deliveries, he would go out of his way to be extra diligent with her packages.
"Yes, she’s my Little Aunt."
Hearing that Jake was Teacher Taylor’s family, the guard’s eyes lit up. This was another chance to curry favor with her! He immediately told Jake which building Teacher Taylor was in and even offered to escort him there.
Jake gratefully declined. The guard pointed him in the right direction and watched as Jake walked off.
Strolling along the paths of MCB No. 12 School, the lush greenery on either side added a vibrant, youthful energy to the campus. Breathing in the evening breeze, Jake felt as if he had stepped back into Sunshine School. The rich, scholarly atmosphere stimulated his mind, filling him with deep emotion.
Walking on the small path of MCB No. 12 School, the lush green plants on both sides added a lot of youthful vitality to the school. Smelling the scent of the evening breeze in the air, Jake felt as if he was in Sunshine Middle School. The humanistic atmosphere stimulated the thin layer of his brain, making Jake deeply moved.
Passing by rows of teenagers, Jake’s appearance also attracted some junior high school girls who were just beginning to experience puppy love. The desire for beauty is innate in everyone.
Compared to them, Jake could be considered a mature uncle.
As he walked past them, Jake faintly heard the girls discussing him, saying things like how handsome he was.
"Youth is wonderful," Jake smiled and shook his head, quickening his pace as he headed toward the teaching building where his aunt was.
At MCB No. 12 School, the three grades of junior high were separated into different teaching buildings. Class 6 was located at the corner of the stairs on the second floor.
Jake came up from the stairs on the other side. Class 7 of Grade 9 was already almost empty. Jake calmly walked through Class 7 and headed toward Class 6.
Gradually, a tall, elegant, and dignified beautiful figure came into view.
It was his aunt. At this moment, nearly half of the students were still in her class. His aunt stood on the podium, looking scholarly.
Her beautiful face was adorned with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, and her black hair was tied into an elegant bun, making her appear even more intelligent and refined. Unlike at home, the usually gentle aunt wore a stern expression, her almond-shaped eyes filled with focus and seriousness.
Among the students below, some were confident, while others were nervous. His aunt was checking their recitation of ancient poems.
A few mischievous boys, clearly not paying attention to their books, took advantage of their aunt’s diverted attention to sneak glances at her without restraint.
