Chapter 1386 - 1386 1372 Abandoned
Chapter 1386: Chapter 1372: Abandoned Chapter 1386: Chapter 1372: Abandoned The short one spoke again, “This way, we don’t have to deal with those cheap goods, nor will we alert Meng Xiuluo, and we can neutralize the threat of the Wolf King’s Ring.”
The burly man behind added, “Of course, without any boats, they won’t be able to leave this deserted island that no one visits. By the time they figure out something, we will have already conquered the Demon Domain.”
The short one said, “It’s not a matter of if, but when. They won’t be able to leave, not even if years pass like days. They can’t build a large boat, and this is the Dark Sea Territory, where no ships will enter.”
The burly man questioned, “But what if Meng Xiuluo finds out about it? She’s kind-hearted, do you think she might send a ship to rescue them?”
The short one replied, “Then we absolutely cannot let that happen. Can’t we just say they left the Dark Sea Territory and jumped into the sea?”
The Barbarian tensed up and said, “You lot, keep it from me as long as possible. You must keep it from me.”
“Don’t worry, we will definitely find a way to keep it secret. We won’t let the boss find out.”
The burly man said, “As long as we keep it secret until we reach the shore, we’ll just say they snuck away.”
The short one said, “Hmm, that’s not a bad idea. We won’t have to worry about the boss being softhearted.”
“So make sure you keep it a secret from me,” the Barbarian confidently stated. “Hurry up and don’t let anyone get suspicious.”
Ye Chen arrived at the mountain peak and felt even more that something was amiss.
Everyone had gone down the mountain; how could they possibly leave Guo Yuyun behind by herself? It made no sense for Guo Yuyun to not know how to get down the mountain. There must be something wrong, but by the time he began to suspect, he had already reached the peak.
Yet, indeed, Yu Yun had not gone down the mountain with them. What could he say? It couldn’t be that she had been killed by those people just now, Ye Chen worried.
It was impossible for Yun’er to just stay at the top and dutifully wait while everyone else descended the mountain.
Ye Chen called out Guo Yuyun’s name.
It couldn’t be that Yu Yun had already gone down and he just didn’t see her.
After a few shouts, just when he was extremely disappointed, he suddenly heard a faint response. He was certain he hadn’t misheard.
He called out several more times, and there was no doubt, it was Guo Yuyun’s voice. He followed the sound and it seemed to be coming from inside the cave entrance. It was from inside the cave; Ye Chen hurried towards it.
He walked into the Pangu Beast’s cave.
The sound grew clearer, and soon he found Guo Yuyun.
“You really came up here?” Guo Yuyun had figured out what was happening.
Ye Chen rushed over to untie her.
But Guo Yuyun said, “It’s a conspiracy, those guys plan to leave us on the island and leave by themselves.”
“I know, I also just realized it. I thought you had been killed by them.”
“Why would you foolishly run up here?”
“You weren’t at the base of the mountain, they told me you were up here waiting for me.”
“Didn’t you doubt their words?”
“I did, but only after I reached the mountain top.”
“The ship is about to depart, we must hurry down the mountain.”
But before they even reached halfway down, Ye Chen stopped because from halfway up the mountain, he could see the ship setting out to sea.
Guo Yuyun was completely dumbfounded, crying out, “No, if the ship leaves, we’ll be stranded on this solitary island.”
“I see it.”
“How could you not think at all and just run up the mountain? Why didn’t you tell them to wait for us?”
“I asked the Barbarian to wait for us.”
“It’s the Barbarian who planned this; how could he possibly wait for us? Are you stupid?” Guo Yuyun sprinted down towards the mountain base with all her might, shouting, “Wait for us, we haven’t boarded the ship yet.” If the ship left, how would they leave this cursed island?
“Indeed, why didn’t I just throw you down and leave myself,” Ye Chen lamented.
“Do you want to die?”
“But I really was stupid. At least I should have found Meng Xiuluo and told her. How could I have believed that Barbarian?”
“You realize how stupid you were, right?”
“How could I have believed that you were waiting for me alone on the mountain? I should have suspected there was a problem.” Ye Chen was too anxious at that moment and just thought about rushing up the mountain.
“We are going to be stranded on the island; how are we going to leave?”
“It’s okay; we will still have a big monster here to keep us company. It won’t be too lonely.”
“Monster my ass, you can keep that monster company all you like.” Guo Yuyun was nearly jumping up and down in frustration, still shouting, “This is the Dark Sea Territory; no ships come around here at will. How will we leave in the future? It took over one hundred people more than a month to build a ship. Even if we wanted to build one ourselves, it would be impossible even if our hair turned white and there’s a monster out there licking its lips waiting to gobble us up.” She kept crying out relentlessly.
“Stop shouting; your voice, no matter how loud, won’t make them hear us,” Ye Chen said.
“Are you even listening to me? We’re going to be thrown onto the island and left to become wild men,”
“Of course I know, but panicking now is useless. I can’t just sprout wings and fly there, can I?”
“You’ve definitely eaten too many sweet potatoes recently; your brain has turned into one. How could you not suspect a thing? I really don’t get you.”
Ye Chen explained, “At first, I believed it, but as we kept running, I grew suspicious. By the time we reached the mountaintop, I was completely sure something was off. How could you possibly stay there alone on the mountaintop, foolishly waiting for me?”
“Yeah, you believed such a stupid story.”
“What I feared most was that you had been killed,” Ye Chen said.
“Damn that flounder, I’m not done with her. If I get out of here, I’ll definitely find a deserted island and make her stay with a monster.”
“It has nothing to do with that girl.”
“How do you know it’s unrelated?”
Ye Chen analyzed, “If that girl wanted to deal with us, she wouldn’t have made things so complicated. She could have found a hundred ways to do it. Clearly, this has been the Barbarian acting behind the flounder’s back.”
Guo Yuyun thought there was some sense in that and stopped being angry. She then said, “But why dump us on the island instead of just trying to snatch the ring away?”
“Leaving us on the island means we can’t get away on our own. Even if we were to get away by some stroke of luck, it would be an eternity away. I probably won’t make it to that eternity, so the Wolf King’s Ring won’t threaten Longhun anymore. It’s like they’ve completely dealt with me without a fight. He also knows how formidable my martial arts are. If it came to a fight, Meng Xiuluo would definitely try to stop it, so he came up with this plan instead.”
“What should we do now?” Guo Yuyun was nearly crying.
Ye Chen murmured, “I hope that girl still has some humanity and, realizing I’m not on board, comes back for me.”
“You’re daydreaming, thinking she has feelings for you. You’re delusional. Come back for you? You’re really overthinking it.”
“Then we’ll just have to live out our lives silently on this island.”
Guo Yuyun was speechless.
Ye Chen went on to say, “I don’t really care. If I lose my mind to demonic possession, then it’s as good as if I’m gone. Once the magic power takes control, I won’t be myself anymore. It’ll just be you left with a big monster and a madman. You better think about how you’re going to spend your life on this deserted island.”
“Just gone like that, huh!” Guo Yuyun kicked out furiously.
Ye Chen quickly dodged and said, “So you’ve got it the worst. My troubles won’t last long, but yours will. You’ve got decades to go! When the time comes, you’ll really be playing the beauty and the beast.”
Guo Yuyun knew the monkey was talking nonsense.
“Maybe that nine-meter long creature won’t eat you, after all, you’re the only human here. It’d be boring without you. Maybe for that reason, it will spare you, as you’re its only toy.”
When they reached the base of the mountain, it was indeed empty; everything that could be moved had been taken away, and the ship had long since disappeared into the vast sea.
Ye Chen crouched at the seaside, in a daze.
Guo Yuyun pushed him hard and cried out, “What are we going to do now?”
Ye Chen shook his head and said, “You’re not expecting me to jump into the sea and swim after the ship, are you? Even if I had the ability to dive that well, it’s not like I could catch up with a ship.”
“Can you be serious for once and tell me what we should do next?”
“I really don’t know what to do next.” Then Ye Chen added, “It seems we can only wait for death.”
“Your head is dead.”
“Then we can only wait to go insane.”
Seeing Ye Chen as if nothing mattered, Guo Yuyun bounced around like a mother monkey.
“Stop jumping. Save some energy. We need to start thinking about food. From now on, we have to fend for ourselves.”
“Fend for….” Do we really have to live out our lives alone on this damned island? Guo Yuyun couldn’t stand the thought. But what could she do, what could she possibly do?
“Stop jumping. It looks like it’s all up to us now.”
Several sharks swam by—it must be a school of them. They had set their sights on the ship. Outside the Dark Sea Territory, encountering a school of sharks would be almost as likely as getting struck by lightning, but here, it was all too common.
Meng Xiuluo heard the impact and stepped out, asking, “What exactly is going on?”
“A school of sharks. We’ve run into a school of sharks.” The reason he chose to leave during the day was precisely because of this; encountering a school of sharks at night would be even more dangerous.
“Are there many?”
“Quite a few. We haven’t determined the exact number yet. But don’t worry, we’re completely prepared to handle them. Give me one hour, and I’ll have it sorted out.”
The Barbarian called his men out. He wanted to show off some good performance. They had been ready for a while; though the ship was not big, they had prepared enough bows and arrows and hands to deal with a school of sharks.
Whoosh whoosh…
Several had already been hit; fresh red blood stained the surrounding waters.
Just as he was feeling pleased with how easily the sharks fell, a roar came through, thunderous like a great peal of thunder, startling everyone on the ship.
