Chapter 1074 - 1074 1060 Flesh Worms

Chapter 1074: Chapter 1060: Flesh Worms Chapter 1074: Chapter 1060: Flesh Worms Nangong Yan stumbled over to him without standing firm, and Ye Chen quickly propped her up. The door of the room burst open, and Li Mo ran in, having heard the monster’s roaring.

Li Mo said, “It must have been discovered by Qiandu Xiang, they released the monster.”

“What, he sure knows how to pick his moment,” Ye Chen could hardly believe it.

The roaring monster, as huge as a mountain, stood upon the sea, towering dozens of feet, its whole body covered with hexagonal scales, with a phoenix head.

Nangong Yan murmured, “Phoenix Monster.”

“What Phoenix Monster?” Ye Chen turned and asked, hastily reabsorbing the Red Demonic Spirit and the Black Demonic Spirit.

“One of the three giant beasts of the Sacred Spirit Sect,” Nangong Yan answered.

Ye Chen seemed to have seen this creature before; it had fought the finned Water Dragon last time, ultimately leading to the Water Dragon not returning—undoubtedly killed by this very beast.

“It’s all because of you, you cursed girl,” the Black Demonic Spirit said.

Enraged, Nangong Yan yelled, “How is this my fault? Be careful with your words.”

The Black Demonic Spirit said, “How can it not be, last time, if it weren’t for you releasing the finned Water Dragon to attack Qiandu Xiang and his people, how could they possibly release such a large Phoenix Monster to deal with us? It’s obviously for revenge.”

The Phoenix Monster smashed into the ship; it was nearly a third the size of the vessel, but it was enough to scare someone to death.

Staring at the monster, Ye Chen’s eyes widened as Shao Hengjiang fiercely fought the beast.

Countless lightning bolts, charged with energy, struck towards the Phoenix Monster.

The Phoenix Monster, as if crazed, slashed with a claw, creating a large hole in the cabin as rain poured in.

If not stopped, the ship would be torn to pieces.

Ye Chen definitely wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen, especially since he had not yet landed. He turned to Nangong Yan and said, “Stay here, don’t come out.”

He tightly clenched both fists, forcing out a wave of energy, which he directed at the caterpillar-like creature. The caterpillar’s attention had been on Shao Hengjiang, not expecting an energy wave from the side, and it was struck by several bolts of lightning.

The Phoenix Monster staggered, originally intent on dealing with Shao Hengjiang with a single swipe, but this sudden surge of energy disrupted its attack.

Seeing the Phoenix Monster hit by several of Ye Chen’s energy bolts, Shao Hengjiang swiftly took the chance, unleashing an Illusion Blade, creating a booming sound as it struck the creature’s arm. However, its skin was as hard as steel, seemingly protected by an energy, making it nigh impossible to penetrate.

With energy whirling out, Ye Chen somewhat incredulously saw that Shao Hengjiang’s Illusion Blade was no joke—it was a lifetime’s ultimate skill. It seemed the caterpillar-like creature really had some ability. He hastily gave a loud shout and sent out a palm thrust, releasing a phantom dragon at the monster.

With a bang, it struck the creature’s chest, but it didn’t pierce through. Although it didn’t break through, it still sent the unsteady Phoenix Monster toppling backward into the sea behind.

Ye Chen hurried upward as the rain poured down densely, at the height of the storm.

Shao Hengjiang wiped the rain off his face.

Ye Chen gazed at the sea surface, certain that it couldn’t be over just like that—there had to be a catch.

Shao Hengjiang, aware of the Phoenix Monster’s ferocity as one of the Sacred Spirit Sect’s three great beasts, knew it wouldn’t be easily dealt with. It was a pity the finned Water Dragon was already dead, or it could have fought against it for a while.

In a flash, the Phoenix Monster abruptly resurfaced. Ye Chen prepared a lightning attack, but before he could strike,

The Phoenix Monster opened its mouth wide, and seawater from its belly gushed out like a deluge, sweeping Ye Chen off his feet and almost overboard.

He heard a voice, “Catch the rope!”

Thank goodness there was still faint moonlight, else he would have been fumbling in the dark. In the urgent moment, Ye Chen quickly grabbed the rope, and just as he was about to fall into the sea, Shao Hengjiang pulled him back.

Sea water from the belly of the Phoenix Monster flooded into the ship.

Shao Hengjiang couldn’t let this continue; with several holes in the cabin, the ship would surely sink if this kept up. He leaped up, suspended mid-air, and roared, “Power covers mountains and rivers!” He transformed into a dragon and directly blasted the Phoenix Monster in the head.

But the beast was like a mountain, hardly something to be thrown by a single punch. The punch, however, did divert the flow of seawater coming from its mouth, preventing it from flooding into the cabin.

This punch also enraged the Phoenix Monster whose eyes glowed blue as lanterns, glaring at Shao Hengjiang. Before Shao Hengjiang could launch his second attack, the deluge was directed at him.

Shao Hengjiang quickly dodged, lest he too would be swept away like Ye Chen.

Several planks and pillars of the ship were washed away.

Ye Chen had finally clambered back, fearing he’d be pushed out again, he tightly grasped a rope. With a step on the deck, he leaped out and threw a punch, soaring like a dragon taking to the skies, transforming into a bolt of lightning, hurtling towards the neck of the meaty worm.

The Phoenix Monster’s attention was all on Shao Hengjiang, failing to notice that Ye Chen could still make it back. It was hit squarely by that punch, which knocked out two of its teeth with a loud bang.

The creature was dazed, totally unprepared for the blow, and took a brief pause to recover.

But the storm continued to rage, pouring more rain inside.

Ye Chen’s clothes were already soaked through; he had no concern for his attire now.

The meaty worm shook its head, and Ye Chen glanced at Shao Hengjiang in the distance. He was thankful that Shao was still on the ship; otherwise, what could he do? Alone, it was very difficult to deal with. He asked, “Don’t you have a Three-Headed Monster? Why not release it to deal with this one?”

Shao Hengjiang said, “The Three-Headed Monster is on the Breeze Ship, not this one.”

Ye Chen was stunned and said, “Then what do we do? Its skin is just too thick, it’s not easy to handle. Such powerful energy has no effect, we need to think of another way.” Now the wind and rain were increasing severely.

Shao Hengjiang looked ahead and said, “Hang in there.”

“What, hang in there? I can hardly stand, how am I supposed to do that? I can’t even concentrate on attacking now.” The ship was rocking violently.

But Shao Hengjiang knew the storm would eventually pass. He knew it was a matter of time and said, “Once we’re out of the storm zone, it should be a bit easier.”

“Is that your solution? Can’t you think of something better?”

“I don’t have any other ideas for now.”

Roused by that punch from Ye Chen, the Phoenix Monster let out an enraged roar. It gave them both a glance, then, crazed, lunged with its two claws, attempting to snatch him up.

Ye Chen threw another punch, filled with streaks of lightning. However, his arm was swiftly blocked as it raced towards the creature’s face.

Shao Hengjiang’s Illusion Blade struck towards its head, but the monster quickly spewed out a huge wave, which came crashing down with a thunderous roar.

Shao Hengjiang quickly conjured a sword and pierced through it, splitting the massive wave.

Little did they know a wooden plank was flying their way.

Shao Hengjiang flipped over, narrowly avoiding it, but was unaware a punch was bearing down on him. He managed to evade, and just as the fist was in front of him, he pushed both palms out, performing a Lion’s Roar. Yet, despite the energy in his palms, he could not penetrate the meaty worm’s fist.

Moreover, the fist, carrying energy fiery like flames and exploding like a meteor, had evaded the wooden plank. Shao Hengjiang wasn’t prepared and the blow reached his chest. Although he had launched his move, only managing to exert forty percent of his energy, it was decent.

However, his forty percent energy was simply no match for the meaty worm’s fist.

With a bang, the fist hit right on his palms and struck his chest, sending Shao Hengjiang, who was mid-air, crashing back down into the cabin, life or death uncertain.

Ye Chen was shocked; he hadn’t expected the worm’s punch to be so formidable. After a dozen or so moves, he realized that to truly defeat this monster, they needed a well-thought-out plan. This was no child’s play; it was a matter of life and death.

Gathering his energy, two balls formed in his palms and then merged into one. Following a loud shout from Ye Chen, he charged ahead, transforming the energy into a Green Dragon, with lightning and whirlwinds accompanying its roar as it dove straight at the meaty worm.

He refused to believe that the creature was impervious to sword and spear. He was determined to give it a good fight. The energy this time was more than ten times stronger than before, incomparable to his earlier efforts.

The blast hit, no, it missed. That damned meaty worm, how did it unleash a flame that blocked the attacking Green Dragon? Ye Chen was shocked.

A crackling noise erupted, creating a shockwave.

Dammit, the Green Dragon hadn’t even gotten close before it was destroyed by the emitted energy, turned to ash.

Right after, the energy emitted from its mouth pressed towards Ye Chen. He immediately conjured a Light Wave to protect himself.

The incoming flames engulfed him, as if he was an ingredient in an alchemical process, with Ye Chen as the pill.

Ye Chen tried to escape, but as he moved left, the energy followed to the left; when he went right, it shadowed to the right.

He tried to force the energy back but found his own power insufficient. What should he do? He was about to die.

Just as he was nearly turned to ashes, a dark shadow burst forth. From the rubble, Shao Hengjiang launched forward with a punch, unleashing a move full of domineering spirit. The energy targeted the meaty worm’s head. Clearly, this energy surpassed all previous attempts by a notch.

Ye Chen had already braced himself for the end. He considered using the ring but remembered Divine Doctor Zhu’s warning: better not to use it unless necessary, for the more it’s used, the quicker one goes insane.

This attack came just in time, with a dense flurry of sword shadows turning into a rain of blades, descending upon the meaty worm.
