Chapter 1012 - 1012 998 Deserted Island
Chapter 1012: Chapter 998: Deserted Island Chapter 1012: Chapter 998: Deserted Island He didn’t know how long he had slept when the sound of waves crashing onto the beach woke him.
Ye Chen was roused by a Red Demonic Spirit, indicating they had made it ashore, but where exactly? He scanned his surroundings, finding everything enshrouded in darkness save for the dim light of a half-moon.
The seaside wind rustled the coconut leaves, sounding like wind chimes. Next to him, the girl lay sleeping like a child. He quickly checked her pulse to make sure she was still alive. Fortunately, she was breathing, albeit weakly. She didn’t require CPR, but her wounds needed immediate attention to prevent further danger to her life.
Carrying her, he entered a pine forest.
Both the Red and Black Demonic Spirits had already leapt out.
“What place is this?” the Red Demonic Spirit asked, sounding like a young girl.
“It’s obviously a deserted island,” the Black Demonic Spirit observed as it looked around.
“No way, we’re trapped on a deserted island? That’s not what we wanted.”
“Surviving the sea is already fortunate,” the Black Demonic Spirit commented coldly.
“Hey, you two, come over and give a hand, will you?” Ye Chen called out.
The Red Demonic Spirit wandered over, pondering how to leave the place.
“Fetch a couple of coconut leaves to lay down, alright?” Ye Chen requested.
The Red Demonic Spirit brought over two leaves and laid them on the sandy ground where Ye Chen set down the pale-faced Nangong Yan.
“Do you need to take off her clothes?” the Red Demonic Spirit queried.
“How else can I treat her wounds? Unless you want to do it.”
“Sure, I’m great at that,” he replied, showing a hint of eagerness.
Ye Chen shouted, “Can you be serious for once? Do you want to stay on this island forever? If you don’t want to die here and wish to gain a body, find some food. Maybe with a full stomach, we can think of a way off this island. I don’t want to spend my life here.” He pushed the Red Demonic Spirit away.
“You’re not as skilled at treating wounds as I am. It would be better if I do it,” the Red Demonic Spirit declared, wanting to show off its skills.
The Black Demonic Spirit laughed out loud at the side.
Ye Chen called out again, “Hurry up,” and directed the Black Demonic Spirit to build a fire.
Ye Chen treated Nangong Yan’s wounds and continued feeding her Yang Tao’er’s medicinal pills, then channeled his energy to regulate her condition further.
Before he knew it, more than two hours had passed.
The Black Demonic Spirit built a large fire, while the Red Demonic Spirit caught a couple of rabbits and several crabs, now roasting on a rack. From afar, Ye Chen could smell the aroma of roasting meat, which made his stomach rumble.
Having weathered the storm, Ye Chen approached the site.
“We don’t even know where Sacred Spirit Island is; what should we do now?” complained the Red Demonic Spirit.
“Who should I ask if you’re asking me?” countered the Black Demonic Spirit bluntly.
“Surely we’re not going to spend our lives on this island.”
“Haven’t we spent enough days living on an island already?” answered the Black Demonic Spirit coolly.
It reminded the Red Demonic Spirit of their time on Earth Demon Island, causing it to say, “I hate islands.”
“At least we’re not locked in a small room. Be grateful for that,” Ye Chen interjected as he walked over.
The Red Demonic Spirit looked at him and then said, “This guy gets a woman for company, while we can only keep each other’s company.”
Ye Chen gave a faint smile, “Then I’m a bit luckier than you two. Who knows, maybe I’ll get married and have children here.”
The Red Demonic Spirit scoffed, “Don’t get too happy too soon. If you don’t remove the magic power from your body, you will eventually suffer magic deviation, and I’ll see if you can still laugh then.”
“Well, at least for now, I have a fine-looking woman for company.” Ye Chen sat down, tearing off a piece of meat. It was surprisingly well-cooked. Surviving this ordeal was a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
“I bet even if you had a boat, you wouldn’t know where to sail it. Besides, right now we have nothing, and we’ve gained a burden,” the Black Demonic Spirit remarked.
The Red Demonic Spirit, swaying slightly, said, “Who would’ve thought, in the end, we might spend the rest of our lives on Gu Island.”
Unaware of how long she had slept, Nangong Yan was drowsily awakened by voices. Opening her eyes, she felt a sharp pain on the right side of her abdomen. Upon touching it, she realized she was injured, but the wound was already bandaged.
Even though it still hurt, she wondered where she was. Was she dead? She couldn’t be; the dead don’t suffer from wounds. If this were hell, it should be far more terrifying, which clearly it was not.
Looking around once more, she spotted a dim light. Just as she was about to call out for help…
She froze suddenly, spotting three figures nearby. One was human, but the other two didn’t seem human, appearing as dark shapes, one tinged with red and the other completely black. She couldn’t be seeing ghosts, could she?
Indeed, they weren’t human. They conversed with the man who had carried her, “Ah… ghosts…” She was certain this was hell; where else would there be ghosts?
Ye Chen, who had been eating, was startled by her exclamation and turned around.
The injured girl was ready to flee.
The Black and Red Demonic Spirits turned their heads as well, each flashing a frightening grin.
Nangong Yan attempted to crawl away, but her injuries prevented her escape. Ye Chen quickly caught up to her, calling, “Hey, girl, it’s me,” and he waved for the Red and Black Demonic Spirits to hide.
Ye Chen crept over and grabbed Nangong Yan’s clothes, allowing her to see him clearly. “What are those two things?” she exclaimed.
“They’re my friends.”
“Is it a person or a ghost after all?”
The Black Demonic Spirit hopped over, appearing in front of her, and said, “Of course, it’s a ghost.”
On the spot, Nangong Yan fainted away.
“Hey, if you don’t get up, I’m going to get on your body.”
Nangong Yan hurriedly opened her eyes again.
The Red Demonic Spirit came over too.
“You’re not a ghost, too, are you?” Nangong Yan glanced at Ye Chen supporting her.
“He’s definitely a ghost, and even more ferocious than us.”
“Black Demonic Spirit, Red Demonic Spirit, my two friends, they are not really ghosts, they just lost their bodies,” Ye Chen explained, propping up the injured Nangong Yan.
“Without their bodies, aren’t they still ghosts?”
The two guys were jumping around, pretending to be ghosts.
Nangong Yan shrank beside Ye Chen, and finally getting a good look around, she exclaimed, “Where is this?”
“An isolated island,” Ye Chen replied.
“An isolated island, how did I end up on an isolated island?”
“The Three-Headed Monster sunk the Cang Qiong, we were drifting on a plank, and ended up here.”
“What about the others?”
“How should I know? I guess most of them ended up in the monsters’ stomachs.”
“What?”
Ye Chen then said, “Don’t think about it too much. At least we’re still alive right now, just be thankful for that.”
“What about Qi Xue and Eldest Senior Brother?” Nangong Yan started to get anxious.
“Maybe they’re waiting for the rescue ship, they might not die.”
With a worried face and not knowing what to do, Nangong Yan had finally adapted to the two spinning things and asked, “Is this really an isolated island?” It was clear there were only her and him, plus two blobs of indiscernible shapes.
“Yes, it seems to be an isolated island, with just a few of us,” Ye Chen guided her towards the fire.
“Then what should we do?” Nangong Yan asked.
“If you don’t mind, I’d be quite happy to marry you and have kids right here.”
Nangong Yan pushed him away upon hearing this and sat across from him, but she was still very scared of those two indiscernible figures. She felt incredibly hungry, so much so that she could barely stand.
“Don’t be afraid of them, they’re not scary, except that they like to peep at girls changing clothes.”
This reminded Nangong Yan, and she asked, “My wound just now…?”
Ye Chen hurriedly explained, “This place is deserted. It’s just you and me who are human. I’m the only one who could treat your wound. Could I possibly do nothing?”
“Then did you see it?”
“I must have seen it. How could I squint my eyes with such a nice body in front of me; it would be such a waste,” said Ye Chen.
Angry, Nangong Yan glared at him fiercely and exclaimed, “I knew you were a bad guy.”
“I’m not that bad. If you had let the Red Demonic Spirit do the treatment, they would’ve been worse. I bet they wouldn’t have dressed you until they had their fill of looking,” he said.
“I’m warning you, you absolutely must not speak of this to anyone.”
Ye Chen nodded slightly.
Only then did Nangong Yan realize how tight her stomach felt. She hadn’t eaten anything all day; how could she possibly not be hungry?
“Don’t pay attention to those two guys, they’re not bad people, and they can still be a great help to us.”
Nangong Yan said doubtfully, “When I saw you the other day, why didn’t I see these two blobs?”
“Because they’re too scary. They’ve always been hiding on me, seldom coming out to see people.”
The Red Demonic Spirit and Black Demonic Spirit played around beside them. They were like children, and ever since the Black Demonic Spirit got rid of the viciousness, it hadn’t been as irritable as before. Although the fiery temper was hard to change, it had gotten much better.
“If this is a deserted island, how do we leave here, and how do we get to Sacred Spirit Island?” Nangong Yan, biting into some roasted meat, was very worried.
“Heh, I also don’t know what to do. I’m still figuring it out, and I don’t even know which direction Sacred Spirit Island is in,” Ye Chen said.
“No, I must get to Sacred Spirit Island.”
“Are you going to see the one you love?”
“I’m going to save my friend.”
“You’re talking about Ouyang Yue, aren’t you? Then I advise you not to go. I’ve seen that girl’s skills on the ship; you would be courting death,” he said.
